Hey Where's Your Brother?

On the classic 1972 live album Roadwork, Edgar Winter immortalized the words, when introducing brother Johnny: "Everybody asks me...where's your brother?" It's a question that fans have besieged both Winters with for over two decades, and now Johnny gets a chance to return the tribute with his latest. Edgar does in fact guest on the sessions, blowing sax and tinkling keys on a few tracks, and dueting with big bro on a superb, seasonal rendition of "Please Come Home for Christmas."

This is a killer album - killer songs, killer playing, killer sound. I have had this for years and have never tired of it. It blasts off with 'Johnny Guitar', one of the best opening songs you'll ever hear. Great solos! The album moves through a clever collection of humour (Check out her mama), tasteful, inventive licks, grooves that compels you to get up and dance - listen to the jumping 11-bar "Boogie down low". This album is full of fun and endlessly listenable. The production is great - some of Winters albums are a bit rough and ready and his playing can get a bit too frantic. This one proves he has all the finesse of Clapton and the excitement of Stevie Ray, and a creative song-writer to boot.
