Suborned by Rhyme Vol 6, Hiatus I These are the journal entries completing the second year of my literary journey as habits and changes settle into a workable life style. A hiatus of longer poems develops as I struggle dealing with early childhood memories of fundamentalist religion and the mental scars from those days. The collecting of memories with a view to rhyming those early days also continues. It is also a bit of a rest and a bit wider focus from the intensity of the last year's rhyming.

About the Author

I am a mountain boy, fundamentalist escapee, 'Nam' vet, and had a fairly active life style having lived in 5 states and in 5 countries on 3 continents and spending about 13 years overseas until retiring as civil engineer. Raised two kids and now as a grandfather, voracious reader and morning walker, my life has morphed into a decided literary bent.

I have enjoyed reading/hearing action poems, especially Robert Service and Richard Kipling, as long as I can remember. I had never considered writing poems until about 5 years ago.

My kids had gotten me back on the net via Facebook and I was bored at the quality of the comments, including or especially mine. While attempting to pep up a lawn mowing story I accidentally produced a rhyme. I like the result and tried a few others, it snowballed, and then got completely out of hand. I now have the compulsion somewhat under control, although it still consumes significant amounts of time. I now self-inoculate with daily rhyme production. I have reduced my major efforts to every couple of weeks or so as the Muse, interest, or anger strikes.
