Have you ever seen a really deep fog? In this beautifully illustrated story the entire town becomes enveloped in one that just won¿t go away. As the book begins a lobsterman hurriedly checks his last traps due to the fog he sees rolling in. Other activities that are also cancelled due to the immense fog are the sailboat race and the fun that all the tourists were having on the beach and in the ocean. Although everyone in the town believed the fog would be gone the next day, it wasn¿t. Everyone tried to go on with their daily lives but the fog was so bad that people would even bump into each other while doing their shopping. Everyone began getting really sick of the fog, would it ever go away? The author of this book, Alvin Tresselt was born in New Jersey, but today he lives in Connecticut. Tresselt has held many professions in his career ranging from author and editor to teacher. He has said that nature is very important to him and tries to convey this in his children¿s books. Such as this book, which he won a Caldecott Honor Medal for, he is telling the children about fog. He also enjoys writing children¿s books because he loves the share with children the fun and beauty of language.
