From HIDE AND SEEKThe walls were lined with crystal formations that glowed and reflected in the shallow lake that covered the cave floor. Water cascaded down the glittering crystal columns in perfectly smooth sheets. The ceiling was a huge sand-colored dome mottled with black and brown."Wait," Henry said, a wary edge in his voice. "Am I dizzy, or is that ceiling moving?"Sofia took a step farther into the room, and a cloud of bats exploded into motion from the wall nearby, their wings whooshing and fluttering. Henry squeezed both hands into fists at his sides, and Jose could practically see the thought bubble bursting out of his head. I will not run away. I will not run away.Sofia paused and held a finger to her lips, then clicked off the flashlight. "Did you hear that?" she whispered.Jose listened. Over the rush of the bats' wings and the squeaks of their echolocation searching for one another in the dark, were splashing footsteps, coming from the opposite side of the cathedral.
