I thoroughly loved and enjoyed reading the intriguing and mesmerizing historical romance written by the amazing, talented author Jennifer Haymore. I received an ARC from Random House PublishingGroup Loveswept through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Lady Emilia Featherstone escapes from her father Lord Pinfield to Colin Stirling's house, one of the Highlands Knights. Emilia has been severely whipped, found incriminating evidence regarding her father's activities, and barely left before she lost her life. Colin and his friends tend to her wounds and try to extract the information from Emilia but she is not ready to share it with them. Colin plans to leave with Emilia in the morning to Scotland to get her away from her father. While on their way to Scotland, Emilia and Colin's attraction and feeling for each other soon turn to love. Both of them find themselves protecting each other against the past trying to tear them apart. Read the wonderfully written, engaging story line, highly recommended, must read love story of Colin and Emilia.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. This is the 3rd book in the Highland Knights series by Jennifer Haymore. I have read all of the books so far and can say that this book can be read as a stand-alone book -- but -- the others are great, so I would suggest you read those as well. The first book tells how the Highland Knights came to be formed. This book tells the story of Sir Colin Stirling and Lady Emilia Featherstone. In the last book, the Highland Knights had been assigned to watch over Lady Emilia's father for over a year. During that time, Emilia had watched Sir Colin and admired him more than the other Knights. She had also run into him once or twice in the months between the last book and the beginning of this book. So, the attraction was already there, this book just let it grow -- although there is a bit of the insta-lust. Sir Colin has many demons from the wars -- he suffers from nightmares and basically daymares as well. When he's alone the darkness (as he describes it) reaches out to pull him under and he just knows it will kill him. He's at a really low point at the beginning of this book and feels that his death is near. Lady Emilia has been extremely abused by her father -- who whips her with a cat-o-nine-tails among other things. One evening her father catches her reading through some very damning papers in his desk and viciously beats her and tells her if she ever tells anyone what she's seen, he'll kill her. So -- she waits until he goes to bed and then escapes to the only sanctuary she can think of -- the Highland Knights house. When the Knights answer their door they find a limping, bloody girl that they hardly recognize standing there asking for their help. They take her in and the adventure begins. There are many hazards, escapes, kidnappings all sorts of dangers in a trek to Scotland and back to London. Colin and Emilia are both very likeable and definitely deserve their HEA -- and I love that that their is a lovely epilogue.

And corny. They are the only words I can think of to describe this book. I won't be reading anymore books from this author.

Lady Emilia is whisked away to the protection of the Colin Stirling and thus starts the adventure of finding the answers to her father's schemes and healing. This is the first book I've read from this series and will be investigating the other books . Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are my own.

I was given a gifted copy by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Lady Emilia Featherstone has been abused by her father for ages and that made her believed she was weak and not worthy. Sir Colin Stirling is one of the Highland Knights who suffers a lot from the horrors he saw during the wars he fought in. The book is well-written, and the characters are very well developed. I liked how, from the very beginning, Lady Emilia just went for Colin because her heart knew what she wanted even if she hadn’t realized yet. I also liked the relationship between the Knights and their wives: they are like a big family, loving and helping each other. Both, Lady Emilia and Colin, suffer from past experiences but they do trust each other unconditionally, no doubts, no hesitation. I like this series and I would like to read the other knight’s stories.

Jennifer Haymore has written another sweeping historical romance that pairs a War veteran with a survivor of an abusive father. Sir Colin Stirling survived he Napoleonic wars and returned home to continue serving with the Highland Knights. He has noticed Lady Emilia Featherstone from afar bu never believed he was worthy her attention. Emilia seeks protection from Colin when she escapes her abusive father after discovering a treasonous plot against the crown. Colin and Emilia flee to Scotland in an effort to evade her father and his co-conspirators. Soon, both learn that they have a lot in common and that is developing feeling for the other. Will Emilia and Colin be able to overcome their past to find a happy ending? I liked the balance of romance, history and suspense. The characters were well written and I liked how they developed throughout the novel. If you like a sweeping historical romance featuring a hero with a heart of gold and a plucky heroine, this is the book for you. I was given a free copy for and honest review.

Lady Emilia runs to the house of the Highland Knights after her father beats her when she finds out about his treasonous plan. Sir Colin is still suffering from the horrors of war be is sworn to protect Emilia as they head north to Scotland to keep Emilia safe their connection grows closer, can they help to heal each other? This is a really good historical read. I loved both the hero and heroine and the story really holds your interest throughout. If you are a fan of historical reads it won’t disappoint.

Excited...did I tell you how excited I am! I have wanted a story on Lady Emilia and Colin since I read and reviewed Highland Awakening (The Highland Knight Series, Book 2).This book did not disappoint me. Colin is very tortured and as the story continues you discover the full truth to the things that are haunting him and driving him to the edge of crazy. There is one thing that he thinks of constantly and if you read book 2 to the series you will know what it is. That he will protect at all odds. I like his honorable character that has the hidden element of caring. At first glance the reader will think he is too hard and seasoned for a warrior and impossible to open up enough to love. The author takes the reader through his journey of protecting Emilia and opening up to her in a way that he never had before. Emilia starts out as a kind honorable person if somewhat timid due to her overbearing father. She is an admirable woman who is strong of character, a loving daughter and dedicated to doing the right thing but I am glad that she became less fearful as the story went on and she didn't allow Colin to make all her decisions for her. I found it refreshing that Emilia didn't allow her abuse to keep her fearful and she found her backbone to stand up against Colin trying to overprotect her and her father trying to get her back. This is a person who takes adversity and turns it around and she makes a great heroine. The reader will love this book it is chocked full with caring and evil people, brokenness, healing, love, family and suspense. I give it 5 STARS. A copy was gifted in exchange for an honest opinion via Netgalley.

Another good one in the series. Two people have their own demons to battle, and together, they are strong enough to win some of them. Emilia is running for her life from her father and his violence. Colin is dealing with his war memories. They already have feelings for each other, although each believes it is impossible for them to be together. It is a bumpy journey with danger, violence, and madness. I have enjoyed this series this far and was not disappointed with this book. I look forward to more from Jennifer Haymore. I highly recommend this book and the series. I received a copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. 'Highland Temptation' by Jennifer Haymore is book three in the "Highland Knights" series. This is the story of Lady Emilia Buchanan and Colin Stirling. I have read all book in the series so far, but I would easily say this is a standalone book. The series is so good, so I really wouldn't want you to miss any of them. Emilia has been abused by her father since she was younger...he also abused her mother. But one night Emilia is trying to find some damaging information on her father to help bring him uncontrolled... when she is caught by him. Emilia runs to the house of the "Highland Knights' were Colin is staying. Colin had been a protector to her family once and he had said if she every needed to be protected/help come to him there. Colin was shocked to see Emilia and the condition she was in. They knew her father to be a very bad man but never thought he would hurt his daughter. Colin has always liked Emilia and quickly takes over her safety. Colin decided that it was better to head to Scotland than stay in London where her father might find her. So Colin and Emilia head to Scotland trying to out run her father. Colin has issue of the past that he is trying to deal with too but aren't seeming to go away. Can Colin and Emilia both survive their past issue and find a safe place to love in their hearts. I don't think I can say enough about this series....I have really enjoyed it!

I saw this book on NetGalley and it intrigued me. I did not realize it was part of the Highland Knights series but that did not affect reading this as a standalone book. When I finished it, I did go buy the previous ones. Lady Emilia Featherstone is caught by her very abusive father reading some documents that prove he's plotting against the Crown. She fears he will kill her and flees to the home of the Highland Knights, who at one time protected her father and home. The Knights believe she is in danger and decide to hide her at a safe house in Scotland. Sir Colin Stirling was one of the Knights who guarded her home and she feels safe with him. Colin has his own nightmares from being held and tortured as a prisoner of war. He is attracted to Emilia but fears he will harm her during one of his nightmares. They travel to Scotland as a married couple and fall in love along the way. But her father has sent men to track them down and he does catch up with them. They survive and decide to return to London, handfasting themselves before leaving Scotland. They, along with the rest of the Knights are on her father's and the rest of the conspirator's trail. There's a lot more going on that I won't spoil, especially the ending chapters because I hope you'll read this book. I enjoyed it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.

A steady pounding on the door, had Sir Colin opening the door to find bloodied, sobbing Lady Emilia! She clung to him, weeping and begged him for help! Someone beat her badly! Lady Emilia met the Knights when they were protecting her father. Now she is the one needing their protection. Harrowing, dark historical romance suspense. Physical and emotional abuse and the demons of war are examined. Standalone, good read. 3 1/2 stars, 1/2 star for mystery element. Book free for honest review.

When Lady Emilia Buchanan discovers her father has been scheming against the crown, she turns to the Highland Knights for protection. Highlander Colin Stirling takes her to a safe house on the outskirts of London. Haunted by visions of his past, Colin has to find a way to defeat his imagined enemies while protecting Emilia. After discovering their mutual attraction, they will find the strength to defeat all of their foes one by one. This is a very exciting historical romance. I liked how Colin, after nearly sacrificing his sanity for his country, still believed in hope and true love. I liked how Emilia, who always thought of herself as meek and a coward, found her strength and will to survive a tyrannical father. What I loved the most was the message that true family is not always by blood, but by relationships. I will definitely read another book from this author. An Advanced Reading Copy was received in exchange for an honest review.

4.5* What a wonderful tail of two wounded souls that find strength in each other's arms, Sir Colin Stirling and Lady Emilia Featherstone. Colin is fighting the demons of war that threaten to consume him and Emilia has escaped a treacherous father that beat her every little infraction. On one of the most horrific night of Emilia's life she runs away and straight to the Highland Knights and into Colin's arms. Begging of Colin's help and protection, Amelia has found out what her father and his friends have planned. She knows she must tell Colin, after all that has happened she still feels she's being disloyal to her father but he must be stopped. Colin knows it's a bad idea to travel alone with Amelia to Scotland for he's admired her since the Highland Knights served as guards for her father. He should never touch her, he knows he's going mad from his demons. Colin must protect Amelia not only from her father but himself. Amelia has other ideas. This is by far the best of the series and I highly recommend you read the series and do it in order.

A sexy Highland Knight and the woman he falls in love with, but must protect at all costs? What is there not to love in this wonderful story of Sir Colin protecting Lady Emilia from her own father? Sir Colin was the strong Knight in this story, but Lady Emilia showed her strength in ways that just drew you to her. It was enjoyable to read how they helped each other and became stronger while falling in love.Although a stand alone book, this is the 3rd book in the Highland Knights storyline and it is just as good as the others. Jennifer Haymore writes an intriguing story of the Knights and the women they protect and fall in love with. Each can be read as its own storyline, but if you are a lover of historical romance, you will want to go back and read the other books before "Highland Temptation" as well and see how the other couples had their HEA. I would like to thank NetGalley for gifting me with a copy of "Highland Temptation" and asking for my honest opinion. This is mine. 4.25 Stars!

A thoroughly wonderful Regency romance with a touch of intrigue! The hero, Sir Colin Stirling, is one of the Highland Knights, a group of Scottish knights sworn to protect England’s crown. Colin is suffering from what we today call post-traumatic stress syndrome as a result of the ghastly horrors of war. He is sought after for protection by Lady Emilia Pinfield who has run away from her father because of his abusive brutality and treasonous plans against the crown. During Colin’s and Emilia’s flight to Scotland to escape her father so that she can heal and ready herself for testimony against her father, they fall in love. The chase and capture—and chase again--made for a very thrilling, historical and adventurous love story. A copy of the book was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
