Highlander's Castle (Highlander Heat, #1) by Joanne Wadsworth

New York Times Bestselling Author Joanne Wadsworth brings you her bestselling Highlander Heat time travel series. Readers are loving it!

Traveling through time…for a Highlander.

Anne MacLeod’s identical ancestor has made a wish on the Fairy Flag at Dunvegan Castle, one which sees the two young women swapping places in time and leaving Anne set to handfast with the very man her ancestor wished to escape. Only Anne sees the possibilities, because now she could change the future and ensure her parents never perished in the inferno which took their lives.

Highland warrior Alex MacDonald has made an agreement to handfast with Anne in order to bring a halt to the feud raging between their clans. The last thing he expects though is a woman claiming to come from the future, a woman who stirs him on a physical and emotional level to protect, and to even believe.

When Anne finds herself in her MacLeod chief’s presence, she chooses to go with him in order to leave a message for her parents. In full pursuit, Alex wages a battle of the heart, and of the very essence of time. Can he defy the odds as Anne is taken from him…to work his own magic and get her back?

This was such a fun and entertaining story. I love highlander stories and this one did not disappoint. It also had romance and to add to it a little faerie magic to make the time travel exciting.

A Scottish wish come true! I love reading time-travel romance! I started reading HIGHLANDER’S CASTLE and couldn't put it down until it was finished! This is the second book, of the Highlander Heat, written by Joanne Wadsworth! I loved her characters in this romantic novella, Anne MacLeod and Alex MacDonald. Annie’s identical ancestor, back in Scotland, wishes on the fairy flag, to be sent somewhere else because she doesn’t have to marry Alex. The switch works but Anne from the future is sent back in time to Scotland and in Alex’s arms. You will enjoy following their journey filled with love, fun and humor…love the scene that she explains she was a girl scout! This story is centered on Dunvegan Castle. This is the second book that I read by Ms. Wadsworth and I have to say that I really enjoyed it very much. She skillfully blended romance and intrigue weaved her characters Anne and Alex into her story! The story line was very well written. You will enjoy every minute with the captivating Scottish time travel adventure. I will definitely be reading more books by this author and watch for her next book in this series HIGHLANDER’S MAGIC. I strongly recommend HIGHLANDER’S CASTLE!

Amazing!! I could not put Highlander's Castle down. It was a fun adventure of love, lose and time travel. I loved Anne and Annie MacLeod and their time travel adventure. They are identical ancestors who meet because Annie MacLeod wishes on the fairy flag at her cousin's castle that she will not have to marry Alex MacDonald. It seems fate believes that Anne and Alex should be husband and wife, so Anne is transported back in time to meet and handfast with Alex. The connection between Anne and Alex was almost instant and you can almost see the sparks fly. You could feel all of the character's emotions as if they are your own. As I read each word I watched the story unfold in my mind. I love Joanne Wadsworth's writing and her ability to capture your attention from the first page. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Wadsworth but it sure will not be the last! Thank you for such a wonderful book.

Time travel with a twist. Anne's identical ancestor from the 1500s has made a wish and the two swap places in time, leaving Anne now set to handfast with a delicious Highlander. A highly recommended read, particularly when this is book one in a seven book series. Just delightful.

Anne MacLeod from the past and Anne MacLeod from the future each have a wish they greatly desire. Both women are determined and independent in their thinking and actions. Alex McDonald living in historical Scotland is a determined warrior about to be handfast to Anne MacLeod for a year and a day. He also has a wish of his own which is to end the feud between the clan McDonald and the clan MacLeod so he will honor the contract his father brokered for him and he will not become overly attached to the woman he will be handfast to. The night before the handfasting Anne McLeod is swept into the past and her world is turned upside down while Anne MacLeod of the past is sent to the future. Each will face an adventure I won't give any really spoilers here though needless to say each persons wish/desire impacts others and possibilities for each families future. Read about each stubborn unbending warrior and the various women in their lives. This was a very enjoyable and easy read with sweet sentiments, feisty women, unyielding men, a little steamy sex, sweeping landscapes, family, and just a touch of magic to make you smile. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a historical/highlander romance and is 18+.

I went to Scotland many years ago! The men tug at their hats as you pass them with a slight bow as they say, "good day mlady!" Hense my gmail is "mlady Lou!" I loved the Country and hope to again go back before I die! Louise McKichsn yes I'm married 36 years to a American Scotsman!

A little rushed. The characters are okay but the story plot could have been filled out to give the characters a little more depth.

Story was ok but a bit unbelievable in the quick happy ending. The characters need to be a little deeper. Why the hero would like the heroine, Anne, is the bigger mystery to me. She is easy but she is also stupid, obnoxious, "headstrong" in a bad way that is inconsiderate of anyone else, and pretty much lacking in redeeming qualities. Why would any man from any era want to spend his life with her when he could just have sex with this pretty dimwit? Obviously I didn't like Anne and could go on about her flawed character and personality.
