Hill 'n Holler Expressions is a right fun way of explainin' how we talk here in the Mountain State. Even some folk in some of our neighborin' places use Mountain speech.

Here is a way for folks who love West Virginia but can't speak it to grab a copy and stop complainin' that they can't translate Mountaineer speech. We mountain folk have been relatively isolated over the years. What resulted is a clinging to old speech patterns and some we just plain created oursleves. You know the kinda stuff. Fer instance:

Far - Used for cooking and heating. "I like to cook over an open far."

Cain Chair - When someone can't hear. As in, " I cain chair very good atall."

There is no one whose ancestors come from the hills of Appalachian that won't relate to this little book on some level. Perhaps you know several people who need it as a gift to help understand us hill 'n holler folk? Send one the next time a city friend deserves a gift, or maybe before they come to visit!
