Overview

They don't play for the same team. Or do they?

Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wise-cracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were eighteen? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.

Ryan Wesley's biggest regret is coaxing his very straight friend into a bet that pushed the boundaries of their relationship. Now, with their college teams set to face off at the national championship, he'll finally get a chance to apologize. But all it takes is one look at his longtime crush, and the ache is stronger than ever.

Jamie has waited a long time for answers, but walks away with only more questions-can one night of sex ruin a friendship? If not, how about six more weeks of it? When Wesley turns up to coach alongside Jamie for one more hot summer at camp, Jamie has a few things to discover about his old friend...and a big one to learn about himself.

Warning: contains sexual situations, skinny-dipping, shenanigans in an SUV and proof that coming out to your family on social media is a dicey proposition.

Can't really recommend. These boys were too young for me to relate. And having to read about them having sex with others...well no thanks. I must not be their target audience.

Yeah, this was good. I am so glad that I finally got around to reading it. I have seen so many glowing reviews for this series for the past couple of years but for one reason or another, I never made it a priority. Once I got started with this one, I didn't want to stop listening and fell in love with both Jamie and Wes before I even knew what was happening. I really enjoyed my time with this audiobook. What is it that just seems to make romance and hockey go together? Jamie and Wes are college level hockey players at the start of this story but they have known each other for a long time from their years at hockey camp. I really liked the fact that they had a history together and it was fun to piece together what exactly happened during their teen years. These two were best friends until they weren't but it was obvious how much they missed each other. Jamie and Wes were such great characters. I really liked both of them immensely from the start of the story and my love with them grew as the story progressed. They were both really good people and I loved watching them deal with everyone in their lives. They were very careful with each other especially at the start because neither one wanted to mess up their relationship again. These two were just so much better together and watching them figure things out was a joy. Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan did a fabulous job with this story. The story is told from alternating points of view and each of the narrators read their character's chapters. I just thought that they were able to bring these two to life. I felt so many emotions in their reading and wanted to listen for hours at a time. I think that these narrators were able to take a great story to the next level and I think my decision to listen to this story was the right one. I would highly recommend this book to others. I don't read a lot of MM romance but I found a lot of magic in Jamie and Wes's love story. It was just wonderful to watch this pair fall for each other and I cannot wait to listen to the rest of their story!

If you're looking for a steamy New Adult MM romance I would definitely recommend this one. I had fun reading it, but in the end felt slightly disappointed because my expectations were so high as I heard so many good things about this book. And I was looking for more talking/ caring/ being close in the romance, that was lacking in this book in my opinion. The chemistry between these two is quite obvious from the start, although I felt Wes's side of it more than Jamie's at first, but I struggled feeling their love for each other. And only in the last few chapters I felt like I really got a glimpse at that closeness and caring that I had wanted to see for most of the book. It also annoyed me that these two rarely really talked about things. There are plenty of sex scenes and quite the variety of scenes too. I liked how most of the book took place at camp as it made for a fun backdrop and the hockey aspect was well done too.

HIM Book One. Jamie Canning and Ryan Wesley have been inseparable since they first met at summer camp. However, before going to college Wes bets Jamie for something more personal than money. After that night, Jamie doesn't hear anything from his best friend again. Wes cannot forgive himself for manipulating Jamie, but when they are soon to be pitted against each other in the Frozen Four Wes knows he has to break the ice. Can their friendship heal over another summer at hockey camp? If you're looking for a hot summer with hockey and two pro players, this is the book for you!

My first MM romance and I loved it. Hot hockey players, steamy sex, you can't go wrong. But what is really well done here is the heart-felt love story. It's really good.

Listened to the audio Now this is how I would like my audios to be narrated; two main characters and two narrators…finally, a performance that separates the names with the voices. As is fast becoming a habit of mine, I did not read this book before I bought the audio, and I’m finding that if the performance is spot on, then I lose nothing in skipping the actual book. Both Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton did an outstanding job in staying in character throughout the audio. They each have a distinct voice that fit the persona portrayed and both gave an excellent performance. The only thing that could possibly increase my enjoyment as a listener would be if a third person narrated, read the filler, and let the character-narrators only voice the main characters lines. But then again that’s me being picky, and I know it’s probably asking for a lot. I’ve seen this book around for a while, and the reviews were pretty decent…and the cover is just plain pretty, so I thought I would give it a try and see what all of the hubbub was about. I was not disappointed. Jamie Canning and Ryan Wesley were both amazing characters and both were performed in a way that I had no problem distinguishing between the two. My only issue, and this is probably all me, but I wish that an author would stick with a name throughout the book and not use last names intermingled with first names, especially when said last name could realistically be a first name. Let me explain. Ryan goes by Wes or Wesley, and it took a bit for me to realize that Ryan and Wesley was the same person. I guess that is an issue with audios over actual books. But, that is my only complaint and not really much of one. Otherwise, the story is solid, the characters likable, and the performances were spot on. This one ended so well, I am afraid to read the next book. I think I will wait for the audio and hope that the authors choose the same format and the same narrators. This one is a winner and highly recommended.

This was my first dip in the m/m pool if you will, and I think I made good choice. It’s sweet, funny, sexy as hell, and has zero drama—basically everything I look for in a light romance—only with dudes. Wes and Jamie became best friends while spending their summers together at an elite hockey camp. Wes begins wrestling with a growing attraction to Jamie, who he is fairly certain is straight. The summer before college, a bet goes too far and Wes abruptly ends their friendship without explanation. Jamie and Wes meet again four years later when their respective college teams make it to the Frozen Four Hockey Tournament. Memories of that summer come rushing back: all the happy times, as well as Jamie’s pain and confusion and hurt, and Wes’s guilt. Wes is finally ready to come out to Jamie and give him the apology he feels he deserves. But when Jamie and Wes return to summer camp as hockey coaches, the boundaries of their renewed friendship are tested. This book is nothing like I expected from a NA m/m story. I figured Jamie would be denying his attraction to Wes for half the book, but instead he quickly comes to terms with his sexuality. I kept looking for major drama, mind games, and miscommunication. Guess what? Never happened. The friends-to-lovers progression feels natural. The obstacles they face are real and handled with maturity, but also a healthy dose of humor. The book blurb says it contains sexual situations but what it doesn’t prepare you for is just how steamy it is. Don’t let the fact that it’s NA fool you. This is some really hawt, top-of-the-line erotica that, for this m/m virgin, is a little educational too. Just keepin’ it real. Anyway… I loved tattooed bad-boy Wes. "I’ll give him every f*cking part of myself, serve it to him like a feast at a banquet. Jamie Canning has no idea the kind of power he has over me." But I truly adored laidback California boy Jamie. "It’s not an exaggeration to say I’ve always felt a little more alive when he’s around. Life is just a little brighter, a little louder wherever Wes is." The chemistry is phenomenal, the humor is fantastic, and I got a huge kick out of Jamie’s wacky family. The epilogue is just delicious icing on an already tasty cake. Major kudos to the two authors who seamlessly blended their writing styles. A solid 5 stars.

Great story of two friends finding love.

HIM managed to be sexy without compromising character development, and hilarious in spite of its frequently serious subject matter. One of those rare books where the ending is so perfect and self-contained that I'm not actually sure I will pick up the sequel.

Jamie Canning and Ryan Wesley have been best friends since they met at Hockey Camp in their middle school years. After a drunken episode, they stopped being friends. Now, with both of them at the Frozen Four, they rekindle their friendship and start over. Ryan "Wes" Wesley is just devastated about what happened the last time they were alone. He has been in love with his best friend and hurting. Now, with a fresh start he tries to make Jamie proud of him as the best friend he can be. Only Jamie is not sure he wants to be just friends anymore. He went out to a bar with his buddy and got pretty jealous when some other guy was making the moves on him. So he kisses him. It was pretty hot. Jamie now knows he is interested in more. The question is will Wes go for it? Wes is scared out of his ever loving mind. This is the love of his life, how can he say no? When he touches him - he loses all control and any remnant of sanity. After spending the summer with the person you love the most, how do you move on and go your separate ways again? Such an incredible love story! I was laughing and crying right along with the main characters They are charming, honest, loyal, and talented.

bookshelves: college-guys, gfy, m-m, made-me-smile, made-me-think, mc-to-love, sports, steamy Read from November 23 to 24, 2015 Two teenagers are good at hockey. They live a continent apart, but spent every summer as roommates at an elite hockey camp. They are headed to the pros, but first they are friends. Then as they are finishing High School and ready to go off to college something happens. They do not see each other until their senior year at the college hockey championships. Wes has never forgiven himself for what he did to Jamie. He just could not face him. He could never share his secret with Jamie. I've spent four years riddled with shame over what I'd done, and now it turns out I should've felt ashamed about something entirely different...(Jamie) cared that I'd abandoned him. And knowing I'd hurt my best friend much more deeply than I'd realized twists me up in knots. They have one last summer to repair their friendship before the Pros separate them again. Wes is gay and has known that fact since he was a teenager. His college coach and teammates know but they won't out him. Going to the pros means the closet. It is a lonely place. Of course the world is lonely to Wes without Jamie. I liked all of the supporting characters especially Coach Pat. I loved Jamie's family and their crazy facebook entries. I felt for the young hockey player with his Ah father. I just liked this story.

"As I admire the grace and deadly precision with which he moves. My weakness is him." Jamie and Wes - sigh. I love an unrequited love story. I love sports romance especially if it's hockey. For M/M romance, I love a GFY storyline. Check. Check. Check. Got all the necessary elements I need for a one day, binge read. And duo Bowen and Kennedy did not disappoint. The authors take you through their journey of friendship as young teenagers where one realizes that the love they feel for the other is not just friendship to their eventual reconnection as adults. Bowen and Kennedy give you great insight into both the heads and hearts of the characters that you can't not root for their HEA. I loved how they wove the back story with present day. Both male characters were completely relatable. I loved that Wes was the one that was easy to judgement whereas Jamie was the more accepting one. Need more detail on that last sentence. Well, I recommend you read for yourself. The epilogue is epic - loved the Facebook conversation. If anything, I wish the last quarter of the book had more messiness to it. Yes, me the angsty/drama hater wants them not to have it all fall nicely into place. I guess that why they call it a HEA. I love Crossroads and Bend or Break series to death. If you loved those books, this book will definitely be a win for you. If you are new to the M/M genre, this is a great story to get hooked on. 4.5 stars out of 5.
