His Counterfeit Campfire Bride by Gwen Hayes

Forget Netflix and chill...campfire and thrill. The second book set in the Camp Firefly Falls world with stories so hot, you can roast marshmallows on your ereader.

Meet Miguel Castillo and Seraphina Worth. Two advertising office enemies sent to a corporate retreat at a sleepaway summer camp to work out their differences. With strict orders to come back with whatever trophies and ribbons are awarded for best team or come back unemployed, they are stunned to find out their boss sent them to the wrong camp session. Instead of corporate team building, they are signed up for Rediscover Your Marital Intimacy week.

She thinks he's unpredictable, unreliable, and unstable. He thinks she's stuffy, stilted, and square. They can barely work together and now they have to pretend to be married for a week at summer camp-sharing a cabin with one bed, doing tantric yoga, and thwarting the advances of a couple interested in a wife swap.

Trouble is, the one thing they both excel at is marketing. And the more they sell themselves as the perfect married couple, the harder it to remember it's an ad campaign and not a love match.

3.75 stars---HIS COUNTERFEIT CAMPFIRE BRIDE by Gwen Hayes is the second installment in the multi-authored Camp Firefly Falls romance series. This is co-workers Miguel and Seraphina (Sera) Worth’s story line. HIS COUNTERFEIT CAMPFIRE BRIDE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Told from dual third person perspectives (Miguel and Sera) HIS COUNTERFEIT CAMPFIRE BRIDE follows our leading couple as they embark on a seven day corporate retreat only to discover that their boss at the Martin and Lewis Advertising Group has accidently registered (or maybe not) the couple into a Rediscover Your Marital Intimacy week. What ensues is the building relationship between Migeul and Sera who pretend to be a happily married couple in spite of their frosty relationship at work. The relationship between our couple is contemptuous. Both had survived a vicious and bitter campaign for the same advertising position that resulted in a shared co-director position where neither won or loss-depending on the perspective. A cantankerous working relationship with Sera found Miguel considering how best to proceed with the future when their boss Mr. Martin sent them on a mandatory business trip to work out their differences or both were out of a job. Sharing a cabin and expected to work together as a married couple was the start of something new. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive. There are a number of secondary and supporting characters including Camp Firefly Falls owners Michael and Heather Tully (Winning Back His Wife #1), and an assortment of couples in various stages of marital bliss. HIS COUNTERFEIT CAMPFIRE BRIDE is a quick, sweet and fun read. A story about two people who must overcome their emotional dislike for one another in order to succeed in both their personal and business lives. The premise is enjoyable; the characters are colorful and spirited; the romance is sensual and uplifting.

Fun love story. The books description gives you the basics, but it doesn't tell you how much you'll be pulled into the story to root for Sera and Miguel. The telling of how the two got to this place in their individual lives was well told, and not drawn out. We get a hint early on with Sera, but I didn't expect Miguels history. I especially appreciate the overall story isn't "I hate you, then instant I love you", it's a learning story for each about themselves as well as each other. The last few chapters gives us good spacing of time to really know this couple will have HEA.
