His Lady Peregrine by Ruth J. Hartman

Percy Radcliff has gone mad. At least that’s what his family thinks. Simply because he adores birds to distraction. If only there were someone with whom he could share his great love. Perhaps he’s found her in the woman he happened upon at the Bird Sanctuary?

Widow Georgiana Ollerton has finally met her match. In love and in admiration for everything avian. Percy, though odd, has a sensual quality Georgiana can’t quite explain but definitely wants to explore further.

The problem is Percy has once again gotten himself into a pickle. How is he to romance his lovely Georgiana when another woman believes him to be her long-lost husband? Will Percy be able to disentangle himself from the other woman before he loses Georgiana for good?

About the Author

Ruth J. Hartman spends her days herding cats, and her nights spinning sweet romantic tales that make you smile, giggle or laugh out loud. She, her husband, and their three cats, love to spend time curled up in their recliners watching old Cary Grant movies. Well, the cats, Maxwell, Roxy and Remmie, sit in the people's recliners. Not that the cats couldn't get their own furniture. They just choose to shed on someone else's. You know how selfish those little furry creatures can be. Ruth, a left-handed, cat-herding, Jeep driving, farmhouse-dwelling romance writer uses her goofy sense of humor as she writes tales of lovable, klutzy women and the men who adore them. Ruth's husband and best friend, Garry, reads her manuscripts, rolls his eyes at her weird story ideas, and loves her in spite of her penchant for insisting all of her books have at least one cat in them. Or twelve. But hey, who's counting?

BIRDS OF A FEATHER WILL FLOCK TOGETHER I was laughing out loud at the antics in this story! Percy Radcliff is considered rather eccentric with his love of birds, who would dream that he would meet his lady love at the Bird Sanctuary. The Widow Georgiana Ollerton loves birds and collects and sorts her feathers, decorating hats. These two individuals both hold a special love and endearment for all things about birds. Just when it appears they have a chance at happiness, deceit, lies, and trickery comes between them in the form of a dowager. Can Percy and his Lady Peregrine survive a conniving woman? You can't help but enjoy the characters, the witty dialogue and captivating story.  Can these two love birds nest together with a happily ever after.

3 out of 5 stars, two bird lovers meet under unique circumstances and quickly fall for one another. However, an acquaintance of Percy’s has set her sights on him too and will go to great links to snare him as her own gentleman whether Percy likes it or not. Will she succeed or will the two “love birds” find happiness together? This is the first time I’ve read a novel where the main couple were older than forty years old and really enjoyed it. Well written with intriguing characters. It has a sweet romance between a quirky pair. Along with a truly conniving woman trying to keep Percy all for herself, while I really didn’t like her as a character, I have to say her ingenuity was undeniable. In addition, though I like Percy with Georgiana and was rooting for them the whole way through, I found Percy’s naiveté over falling for the other woman’s scheme a little disappointing. I guess I wish he could have stood up for himself a bit more than this novel shows. Nevertheless, I DO recommend this novel to those looking for a fun, and bird, loving sweet historical romance! Cute but it is hard to believe that one could be so guilty ridden as to believe the drama that was unfolding in his life. Disregarding whether this is period specific or the fact that this author can write; I would ask can she tell a good tale. My honest answer is" meh!". The book was 70 pages approximately and I had to skim. It just wasn't captivating enough!

What an enchanting tale of two bird lovers coming together in a romance truly unique. This book made me laugh and gave me true happiness that even the older generations managed to find true love. The theatrics that Perry got into made me laugh and although he was definitely naughty it was hard to get angry at him. Georgina while seeming crazy is crazy enough to be a perfect match for the crazy Perry. This love story was definitely one you dont want to miss out on.

A nice, warm-and-fuzzy short story. I really liked the style and the change of perspective the writer used. It was quite entertaining and definitely plausible as a story. I'll be looking for more of this series and her other storylines as well.

Mr. Percy Radcliff, age 51, has always loved birds and has even thought he might like to be a bird, which has made his family question his sanity. Lady Georgiana Ollerton, age 42, is the widow of Albert, the Earl of Graverly.  Unfortunately, their union produced no children, and Albert experienced some financial difficulties before he passed away.  Thus, Georgiana has had to trim the staff and lives as simply as possible.  Oh, but she loves to indulge her passion for birds.  Her favorite place to visit is a local bird sanctuary where she collects the feathers of different birds. One day, both Percy and Georgiana are both at the bird sanctuary and Percy is quite taken with Georgiana’s looks comparing her to a peregrine falcon.  When she suffers a minor fall, Percy is there to help her up.  (It so happens that Georgiana is a bit of a klutz.)  As they chat, Percy finds himself quite smitten with her and asks to see her.   While at a get together with some of Percy’s relatives, evil begins to form in the heart of one of the attendees.  It appears that Miriam Crome, Dowager of the Lofton estate, has discovered that Percy has awakened some long-forgotten feelings in her heart and body and she is determined to get him away from Georgiana and have him all to herself. Will the Dowager be able to destroy this budding relationship between Percy and Georgiana?  Just what does she have up her sleeve? I loved this book.  It was so cleverly written and humorous that I found myself laughing out loud.  It’s not a long book and can be read in an evening.  I hope readers will grab a copy and sit down for a fun time.

I search for this author's histiorical witty romance stories. The love interest is not perfect with heaving bosoms like in so many other novels. These characters are human and so much fun to read about.

FUN GREAT ONE SITTING READ I enjoy reading Ruth J Hartman books as they allow a short escape into an adventure and seemingly join the characters. His Lady Peregrine is book five in the Love Bird Series. The hero simply adores birds, which his family thinks is very weird, therefore they thing he has gone absolutely mad. All Percy Radcliff wants is to find someone to share his passion about birds with. He meets a widow at the Bird Sanctuary and thinks maybe his time has arrived. Georgiana shares his passion for birds and becomes interested in Percy. But, Percy is once again tripping over himself as another lady thinks he is her long lost husband. So how in the world is he supposed to romance Georgiana as he wishes to when the other lady thinks he is already taken? He has his hands full, so to speak, trying to romance one lady while he desperately tries to escape another lady. The story captures your attention from the beginning and holds through to the end of the book. It is a fun, pick me up action humorous read. The hero and heroine is a little older in this book than other romances, but that does not detract from the story. I highly recommend this author and this series to anyone who enjoys reading fun filled romance.

story was not that good and being a novella made it rushed.
