His Million Dollar Risk by Robin Bielman

Determined to make his latest preservation project on Route 66 a success, Connor Gibson will take any good press he can get. Even if it means spending a week with a reporter. Charlize Beckett is in deeeep trouble. This is her one chance to prove to her publisher dad that she's a serious journalist, even if she has to pretend she's someone else. Worse though, is trying to maintain any objectivity with the way too charming Connor. She can't help but get into all kinds of sexy trouble with him. But by going off the record, Charlie is putting both her reputation and her heart on the line...

My Thoughts: Another winner from the Entangled Indulgence line! This is my second book by Robin Bielman, and I loved this one more than the first. It's engrossing from the start and it keeps you hanging on right until the end. Charlize, otherwise known as Charlie, is taking over for her friend Ashley on this job. It's a sticky situation for her since Connor isn't a fan of her father, but she's willing to risk it. Unfortunately (or fortunately), they hit it off. Pretty soon they're in so deep that Charlie knows it won't be long until her cover is blown, and she's afraid of what she'll lose now that she knows how much she cares for Connor. His Million Dollar Risk was a sweet little road trip love story. I loved seeing both Charlie and Connor getting to know each other and watch their romance grow. Definitely one of those books you can't help but adore. My Rating: Very Good

Years ago, his mother was publicly crucified by the press. Despite this issue he had with the press, Connor Gibson would do anything to get Route 66, his latest preservation project some press. Even though it means spending time with a reporter. To top it all up, it’s with the publication he hated the most. But the reporter wasn’t what he expected to be… Charlize Beckett would do anything to prove herself to her father. But she got herself in a very deep trouble when she posed as her best friend in order to get the interview with Connor. She tries to maintain the professionalism between the two of them, but he was just way too charming. Will she be able to tell him the truth without ruining them? What I love most in this novel is that this is one heck of a road-trip. All those vividly-described sites along the way would make you want to join these two love-birds. Their banters would entertain you along with the scenes, would make you smile and turn the pages. The two of them proved that opposite attracts – fun-loving, outgoing and unpredictable Charlie was perfect for the Type-A personality, control freak Connor. Truly a short, entertaining read.

This novella is literally packed full of humor, depth, romance and fun. I enjoyed it literally from Page 1 and the first scene at the pool had me chuckling away. Connor did not trust reporters especially after an article that was reported wrongly was on his mum. Charlize spent her life trying to fit into her 'given' role as a reporter even though she hasn't been able to prove herself much since she was only given small assignments. A turn of events resulted in Charlize going in for the gig which was to report on the Route 66 Preservation Project with non other than Conner. I really like Charlie. There's just something about her... she is confident yet insecure but what I loved most was her positivity, her enthusiasm, her spontaneity, her sense of humor and her free spirit. Conner on the other hand, while he takes pride in his work, he keeps his schedules and duties in check and is always all business and no play. And he's not liking that Charlie is getting under his skin and finding himself attracted to her. I couldn't help but enjoy together with both Charlie and Conner as they embark on their journey along Route 66 from one spot to another. Robin Bielman has indeed painted a beautiful scene of the Route 66 along with the Dandelion field and the Ferris Wheel. I was totally surprised to read about tiny island Singapore, which is where I reside in mentioned in one of the scenes. The build up and chemistry between them definitely felt genuine, heartwarming and sweet. I swooned at the scene when Connor met up with Charlie in LA. This is definitely a book to check out and this can be read as a standalone even though it is the 3rd book in this series. I'm so gonna catch up on the earlier 2 books. I was gifted an advance copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Connor Gibson hates the press. They attacked his mother by printing lies and half truths. Why is he going to spend a week with a reporter? Because he needs to promote his Route 66 preservation project. What's going to happen when he and Charlie spend time alone? This is a fast paced, romp across the countryside. Attraction and desire blossom between Connor and Charlie. He doesn't know that she's really Charlize Beckett. Her father is the owner of Natural World, the magazine that had libeled his mother. Her friend needed surgery and couldn't do the interview. Now Charlie is using her name. What could possibly go wrong? Charlie is such a fun character. She's a free spirit who lives life to the fullest. Her joy is contagious. I loved her. Connor is full of pain and anger. When he told Charlie to leave, my heart broke. He was so cruel. These two were good together. It made me sad that he would turn away from her. I loved that Route 66 provided the background for this novel. The setting added so much to the story and taught me about this historic landmark. Robin Bielman's story made me both happy and sad. I loved His Million Dollar Risk.

I loved this one. Very sweet, sexy and a whole lot of fun. The places Connor and Charlie visited were so well described that I would love to do a road trip down Route 66 myself. I loved their chemistry and the fun times Charlie made Connor have. And in turn he built her up too. Perfect complements for one another. In true Robin Bielman form, the ending was amazing and heart touching. I love gestures like this. It only makes the book, story, and characters that much more memorable. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the author.

awesome read with fantastic background landscape ****A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for an honest review*** Fun story set along the Route 66 route. This is in Robin Bielman’s Take a Risk series.  This story is filled with humor, hot sexual chemistry, laughter, misunderstandings, tears and best of all, love. In this story, we meet Connor and Charlie. Connor is forced to take a reporter along on his project for saving the route 66 but he feels he needs all the best press he can get so he reluctantly takes Charlie along. Charlie is a reporter for a magazine owned by her father; however, she has only written soft pieces. She wants to write real journalistic pieces and to be taken seriously. She had an opportunity present itself: her best friend, Ashley, who is a great reporter, get sick, and not get to go on this week long road trip with Connor, the owner of the company that saves historical sites. Charlie told Ashley she will go in her place and write the story. Their story starts out and there are some twists and turns in their story-some hot and sexy chemistry. Some hurtful , painful wounds caused by Charlie’s father toward Connor’s mother which Connor holds Charlie responsible for. Throughout the story, one thing holds true--- Connor and Charlie have this chemistry which is hard to let go of and they are pulled toward each other. It is wonderful to read and as the reader, I really enjoyed the background of Route 66. I highly recommend this story. Charlie and Connor are a great couple to root for.   My rating: 4.4 stars ****

This newest book by Ms. Bielman has indeed followed the precedent set by other stories I've read by her. The story started out with well-written characters that you immediately connected with. Throughout the story, Ms. Bielman added layers and depth to Connor and Charli's personalities that guaranteed you would become emotionally invested. Nothing would do but that they both get the happy ending you know they both deserved and that Robin Bielman delivered. Wonderful story that left me smiling.

His Million Dollar Risk is quite an enjoyable read. It is book three in the Take a Risk Series but can be read as a standalone. In addition to the well-developed characters, I enjoyed the occupation of the hero, Connor, the dream job of the heroine, Charlie and the overall adventure you are part of. After finishing the book, I really want to travel Route 66 for a road trip! Connor is not looking forward to taking a  week-long trip with a reporter especially since the magazine in which the reporter is from posted a false article about his mother, so he starts out pretty angry and defensive. Charlie is filling in for her reporter-friend at the last minute and doesn’t really know what to expect. She just wants to prove to her father (head of the magazine) that she can do this job. Things don’t start out too well… I thoroughly enjoyed Charlie’s character. You just like her from the very first scene. She isn’t perfect, but she makes you forget all the things that have to do in the future and reminds you to live in the moment. Connor is very regimented with his schedule and likes control. Charlie challenges that big time. Slowly but surely, Charlie got through that rough exterior of his and helped him to relax his schedule in a most entertaining way. Robin does a fantastic job merging the overall story plot with the romance between Connor and Charlie and the relationship struggles that Charlie has with her father. Add in some very steamy intimate scenes (love the ones outside the bedroom), a road trip adventure and you have a wonderful short contemporary romance story! I have always enjoyed the smoothness of Robin’s writing and the engaging characters in her stories. His Million Dollar Risk is no different. If you have yet to read this author, pick up this book and give it a shot. *Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*

Fasten your seatbelts, pack some snacks, and get ready for the funniest, sexiest road trip you've ever taken. Why? Because you're traveling Route 66 with billionaire conservationist Connor Gibson and media heiress undercover, Charlize Beckett. Attraction, chemistry, secrets and more fuel every stop on this journey. As a reader, I got to enjoy the road trip without packing a bag, snoozing in the car, or pumping gas. But I got great destinations that meant something to the characters, great interactions between Connor and Charlie, and, frankly, a great big valentine to taking a risk on love! HIS MILLION DOLLAR RISK is absolutely risk free. You're flat out gonna love it!

Connor Gibson was giving a week long interview with a reporter from a magazine he didn't like. The only reason he was doing it was that it would be good for his company's restoration project. The owner of said magazine allowed one of his reporters to slander Connor's mother, without apology. Ashley was supposed to do the interview but she got sick, so Charlie agreed to do the interview instead. Charlie never imagined Connor Gibson would be the guy she met by the pool the day before and that he hated her father for the article about his mother. Charlie's father owns the magazine that's doing the interview. Is it any surprise Charlie told him her name was Ashley and when is the right time to tell him the truth?  Loved it! This is a complete, well thought out story with strong characters. How can you not be drawn to a character like Charlie? She takes care of business but also very spontaneous and takes the time to enjoy the little things. She teaches Connor to appreciate life again. These two have chemistry in spades! I truly enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading more from this fantastic author.  Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

His Million Dollar Risk by Robin Bielman was a fun book to read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Connor Gibson’s and Charlize (Charlie) Beckett’s road-tripping down Route 66. I laughed out loud several times while reading Charlie’s mishaps and Clay’s bantering. My heart went out to Charlie with the issues she dealt with her father and I loved Clay and his sense of honor to the past. This was a light read that I highly recommend. I’d like to disclose that I received a copy of His Million Dollar Risk in exchange for a fair and honest review.

3.75 stars-fast paced, sweet, predictable:  3.75 stars-- HIS MILLION DOLLAR RISK is the third installment in Robin Bielman’s adult, contemporary Take a Risk romance series focusing on a tight knit group of friends. This is millionaire and preservationist Connor Gibson and journalist Charlize (Charli) Beckett’s storyline.  HIS MILLION DOLLAR RISK can be read as a stand alone. Told from third person point of view, the storyline follows Charli as she sets out on a cross country journey along the infamous Route 66 with Connor Gibson. When Charli’s best friend and fellow journalist Ashley becomes ill, and is unable to travel, Charli jumps at the chance to fill in for her best friend’s assignment with Connor Gibson-an assignment that finds Charli impersonating Ashley in a case of mistaken identity. As Connor and Charli set out on their journey along Route 66, Charli will discover that her connection to Connor goes much deeper than an interview for a magazine. There is a tainted connection and history between our couple-one if discovered by Connor-could very well destroy Charli’s career and their building friendship. The relationship between Charlize and Connor begins tentatively.  Connor abhors journalists; his family history with the media predisposes his dislike for all things relating to interviews and journalism but his desire to promote the preservation of Route 66 finds him reluctantly allowing Charli along for the ride. Charli’s interview with Connor will reveal some secrets that hit too close to home. The developing friendship will quickly turn to lovers when our couple is confined with one another 24/7 but Charli’s continuous lie about her true identity is about to come crashing down and destroy her hopes for a future with the man with whom she is falling in love. The $ex scenes are passionate and moving. The secondary and supporting characters include some of the colorful people Charli and Connor meet along Route 66. Charli’s BFF Ashley is but one phone call away at all times; and Connor’s friends will reveal Charli’s true identity. HIS MILLION DOLLAR RISK is a fast paced, sweet but predictable read with a little bit of fun and romance, a little bit of $ex, and a little bit of historic scenery. Robin Bielman will captivate your imagination as your travel along with Charli and Connor down the infamous Route 66.

Loved this book by Robin Bielman, the third in the series but can be read as a complete stand alone. I could not put this book down, I was laughing out loud at times at some of Charlie's antics. You first meet Charlie and Connor at the hotel with a pool mishap. Then the next morning Charlie has to stand in for her friend as a reporter for the next week on a week long job with interviewing Connor. The interview takes you along on a wild, epic journey down Route 66. The only problem is that Charlie has lied about her name, Connor thinks it is Ashley. Charlie is the daughter of the owner of the magazine, doing the interview. It turns out Charlie's dad lied about a previous story involving Connor's mom. When the truth comes out can Connor forgive Charlie, or as he calls her Goldilocks. Loved the opposites of these characters, Charlie is so care free and Connor is so much serious. Charlie does her darnest to bring out some fun in Connor. There is a great sexual chemistry between two. I really enjoyed their road rip.

Charlie was the star of the story. She was full of life and energy and took each stop along Route 66 and made it into something magical. Living the road trip through her made me really want to go visit all these places along the way. I think these are the same reasons that Connor fell in love with her as well. They get off to quite an unusual start which had me chuckling, but it also led to a big old lie - and those I'm not a big fan of, but once Connor starts talking about what he thinks of Charlie's dad - I at least sort of understand why she didn't speak up earlier. It was a very fun journey, with a bit of a rushed ending. But I enjoyed every minute of it. *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

Really enjoyable read that I found filled with humor, sexy, and completely entertaining. This couple has a great way of balancing and bringing out the best in each other. Connor is all business and very serious about his current preservation project and wants as much good press as he can get. Charlie is fun and carefree but desperately wants her fathers approval. So when the reporter who was to cover the story becomes ill, Charlie steps in to spend the week with Connor and write the story. Their journey begins but it isn't exactly what either of them thought it would be! This is a good one! I highly recommend it.

In this fun and sexy story we meet Connor and Charlize. Connor runs a heritage preservation society and Route 66 is his latest project. When he is reluctantly forced into having a reporter tag along for a week's drive on the route to aid in the publicity for its preservation, Charlize turns out to be nothing like what he expected - a newbie (though she tries to hide it), but not just that, she's fresh and charming and knocks his socks off. But Charlize is keeping a secret - when it comes out (as they always do), will Connor be able to look past it and still see the girl he's fallen for? This was such a fun and enjoyable story! From their first meeting there are sparks of attraction that just ramp up as the story goes on. Connor is a wonderful character as a somewhat reserved but fair man, who is reluctant to bend to Charlize's charms at the beginning though it doesn't take long for him to start to enjoy her unique approach to life. Charlize is equally charming, flirtatious and innocent and sweet all rolled into one friendly woman. She helps Connor see the beauty of the route he has preserved and leads him off the beaten path in more ways than one. I really enjoyed the trip down the highway as from one spot to the next, a bit of the history of this cross America drive is revealed. The love scenes between them are exciting and steamy and there is no doubt that they are falling for each other, even as their time together on the road is drawing to a close. It was a wonderful read - a definite 5 stars for me.

Fun, sexy and enjoyable, His Million Dollar Risk is a great addition to Robin Bielman’s Take a Risk series. And when Connor Gibson and Charlize Beckett take a business trip along Route 66, that business soon risks ‘I think you're proving to be a distraction I didn't count on this week.’ Robin has a gift of creating a couple with a natural chemistry bringing everything from humour to the heartfelt. Charlie is spontaneous, flighty and sweet and the way she knocks Connor off his stride is fabulous. She unleashes his less serious, fun side and, add to that the fact he’s sexy and unaffected, they’re a couple you simply can’t not love. But with a little white-lie leading to the chance of fallout, the path of true love is unlikely to run smooth. ‘So, bad boy, whatcha wanna do?’ ‘You.’ Whilst I must confess I would have liked a little more focus on Charlie because she was a strong heroine, I can safely say, if you’re a fan of Robin and her writing (as I make no secret of being), I doubt you’ll be disappointed. And with some excellent humour and banter provided by Clay, I look forward to seeing who steals his heart. ‘When you talk, I don't just listen. I hear you.’ (Whilst His Million Dollar Risk is the third book in the series, it could easily be read as a standalone). Reviewed for Read Your Writes Book Reviews. His Million Dollar Risk was such a fun romantic story with elements of road trip adventure that had me hooked from the start.  Not having read anything by Robin Bielman before, I was immediately attracted to the gorgeous cover of the book, and the synopsis. I've always wanted to go on a trip through Route 66, and reading about the places that the characters go to throughout their little adventure I was intrigued.  Connor Gibson runs preservation projects, his love for Route 66 has made his family recognized, but sometimes having a known name can hurt one's reputation. That was exactly what happened to Connor's mother after getting caught in a misunderstanding, a famous publishing company ruined her reputation. Hence, Connor's hatred towards journalists. He hates having to deal with the press, afraid of being caught in the same situation that broke his mother's feelings. Now he is working in his latest preservation project on Route 66, and he needs good press to get it to be a success. So, he invites a journalists from Natural World (also the one who published a story against his mother), a prominent magazine to visit a few stops throughout Route 66. If things go well, he will be able to bring national recognition to the Route, and make everyone in his family happy. But meeting his said “reporter” by chance, things quickly start to change between them, and he starts to question how professional he can be with her while they spend the week together. Charlize Beckett always wanted her father's approval, and no matter what she does for the magazine, she still wants to please her dad. As she goes off on a trip with her friend Ashley (a reporter for the magazine), she has a few embarrassing moments in front of a handsome stranger. Unfortunately, her friend ends up getting sick, and she has to cover for her on a job that she is working on for the magazine. All she needs to do is meet with the representative that is working on Route 66, and interview him while they spend the next week together. Little did she know that the handsome stranger that she met at the hotel earlier is non other than Connor Gibson, the one that she has to interview. She immediately finds herself telling him that her name is Ashley/Charlie, and that she is in fact interviewing him for the magazine. What started with them being professional, later on she finds out about the hatred that he has for her father, and that leaves her wanting to keep her identity a secret even more, but as the two start to get more emotionally attached, she questions whether or she should tell him the truth before it's too late. The characters in this book felt refreshing, as well as the story line. I love the road trip vibe that I got from reading it, and I couldn't stop from reaching for it every minute I got. Both characters have their own secrets in the book, that is no surprise, but as I read through the book, the chemistry between them grow in every scene. I love the scene when they are at some type of amusement park, and Charlie gets Connor to get her a stuffed animal from one of the booths (that scene was adorable!). Needless to say, I really enjoyed reading this book, everything was well-written, and well thought out. I highly recommend checking it out.  ***ARC provided by Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.***
