About the Author

Author for Blushing Books. I write both contemporary erotica and historical spanking romances. I enjoy writing about characters that enjoy the provocative D/S lifestyle of today’s times as well as taking a step back into the past to write stories that take place in the Victorian era with age-play as a theme.

I live in the great Lone Star state with my wonderful husband. I have always loved reading. Growing up in a family with four children, it was difficult finding a place to be alone. I was probably one of the squeakiest clean girls on the planet as I would spend hours in the tub so I could read without being bothered. It wasn’t long before I began to make up my own endings to the books I was reading. From there, it just seemed natural to begin writing my own stories.

I never try to restrict myself to any one genre because there are just too many delicious possibilities out there and inside my head. I admit to being somewhat of a romantic though as my stories always must have a great deal of love, passion, corporal discipline and, of course, great, mind-blowing sex. I want my readers to be able to see, hear, feel and know the characters that I’m creating as well as I do when I bring them to life and transfer their stories to paper. I want my women to be strong of character but also strong enough to know that submission given in love and trust to your partner does not make you weaker, it makes you far stronger. I want my men to be sexy, strong, demanding alpha males who know how to take what they want while acknowledging it is a gift they have been blessed with by the women that have chosen to submit to them. I want there to be no doubt that they truly would die for the other no matter how others might view their relationship.

Sex, Sex, Sex..... This is all the book was about. Way too much sex. Not much of a story.

This story is a thinly veiled attempt to make "punishment" acceptable when in reality it was domestic abuse. And I'm not talking about BDSM stuff but a thrashing with a razor strop. Should come with a disclaimer. Didn't finish.

I loved this and couldn't put it down. Richard was very strict when needed as Anna was very naughty and feisty by nature. Though Richard doesn't punish for every little thing he does for when Anna does something dangerous without thought to others.

Maggie Ryan writes so very well. Her tales are complex and beautifully descriptive. This story of Anna and Richard has the same qualities and is also of a good length. The start of the story is full of love, tenderness, some trepidation and of course well deserved spankings. As the plot progresses the tone of Anna and Richard’s relationship changes. He continually professes that he adores her spirited nature but then punishes her severely for this spirit. I found the punishments that he meted out unsettling and difficult to read at times. Conversely, the erotic scenes were easy to read and very enjoyable! I have decided on a 4 star rating in deference to Maggie’s skill as an author. I know that severe punishments are what some readers enjoy but I am pleased to see the warning at the bottom of the overview of the book.

This is a great story by Maggie Ryan. I will first say that I have read the reviews by others. Yes, the punishments are severe, but that wasn’t uncommon in this time. Also, I don’t agree that Richard doesn’t love Anna. Richard was doing what was necessary to keep Anna alive. That was a dangerous time and many men and women lost their lives. So, that being said, I think this is a love story. Richard loves Anna and Anna loves Richard. He does what is necessary to keep her alive. Yes, some of the punishments were designed to make her more obedient, but again, normal for this time. I loved this story and I give it 5 stars!

LEARN FROM THE DOWNS AND REALLY APPRECIATE THE UPS I love historical westerns and this story kept me captivated and the pages turning. It has a great cast of characters, witty dialog, heartwarming moments and an HEA ending. Richard Andrews has returned to Crooked Creek after being away for three years. Anna Martin is now 18-years-old but hasn't lost her wild, stubborn streak. She is full of life, passion and her spirited ways have a way of leading her into trouble. I love how Richard stands up for her with the town and town bullies who try to sully Anna's reputation. Richard and Anna marry and leave the day after the wedding to travel westward. They trip includes many lessons in life and marriage that Richard will have to teach his feisty wife. Anna learns that marriage is not a fairytale, but you can have your happy ever after.

4 stars This was the story of Anna and Richard. Anna , a young 18 year old girl, married to a childhood love. They marry and then travel to their new home on the west coast. It is a long journey where Anna learns what it means to be a pioneer. She also learn how to please her husband sexually. There are spankings throughout. Some of the spankings are with paddle and belt and strap. She is switched. All of these spankings are for putting herself at risk or for sassing or doing things a young 18 year old would do. Anna has to really grow up during the journey. It has a happy ending. There are a lot of graphical sexual scenes.

I loved everything about this book! I am amazed when I think of the sacrifices made and danger faced by the pioneers. This story and these characters give us a glimpse. Anna and Richard have such smoking hot chemistry and as their relationship grows they take the reader along with them on their journey to love and new beginnings. Maggie Ryan has hit a home run with this book, don't miss it!

It would be hard to leave everything you know to set out on the Oregon Trail, but being newly-married would certainly make things more challenging. Annabelle is feisty and no stranger to her father's strap. Her new husband Richard is loving and firm as he takes her in hand. Anna learns quickly that there are few secrets in a wagon train. From the beginning of the journey, the wagon master makes it clear that he expects the rules he sets out to be followed by everyone and those who can't or don't comply will face punishment, possibly in front of everyone. This story moves right along and doesn't follow the same story line that many historical fiction wagon train stories employ.

Diffrent but an enjoyable adult read.
