His Stolen Bride is Un-put-downable (literally!!!) I started reading my ARC of His Stolen Bride at 9:30 last night (a big mistake, I know, to start a Shelly Thacker novel right before bed!). Because I was desperate to find out how we would arrive at our HEA, I finished the book at 3:40 am!!! Chapter 1 begins with Lady Laurien d’Amboise about to be married against her will to the unbearably cruel Comte Jacques de Villiers, when she is spirited away from her wedding procession by the dashing and determined Sir Darach of Glenshiel. Thus begins this creative and heartrending romance, full of seemingly insurmountable obstacles and excruciating decisions. Lady Laurien, to her own admission, is not “biddable” or “obedient” wife material, nor is she willing to remain silent, characteristics which put her at odds with her betrothed right at the start, and also cause endless headaches for her abductor. Suffice it to say that the resolution of this story is truly satisfying and the journey to the end is fraught with beautifully descriptive prose, dialog so true to the characters that you can almost hear it in your head and imaginative plot resolutions that you never saw coming! Oh, and at 3:40 am I received an email indicating that my preordered copy of His Stolen Bride has now been released and is waiting in my library, so you KNOW it is one I’ll be reading again and again. I highly recommend this book.

Very engaging characters, with believable motivations set around Scotland attempting to get France's assistance against England's tyranny. The romance was well-done, and I'll be buying more books by this author.

Exciting and rich with engaging characters Could not put it down. I read it so fast that it may become a story I reread again and again. This is rare for me because I read voraciously but this tale creates a mood I may wish to revisit.

Enjoyed this book very much. Lady Laurien d'Amboise is to be wed today, but not of her choosing. Her stepfather she had not seen in nine years had given her no time to object and little time to say farewell t students, novices, and nuns who had truly been like sisters to her foe eleven years. She was hopping that the wedding could be stopped. On the way to the church she was kidnapped by a Scotsman. If you like historical books you will love this one..

Another sweet story, with depth of characters and an interesting array of events and intrigue. Enjoyed seeing Gaston before he found his love.

I read the entire Captive Brides series over Christmas break and I can't pick a favorite. This one has the requisite smokin' hot hero, a strong woman, heat, family, action, and love. You won't be able to put it down. Enjoy!!

This was the first book I read from Shelly Thacker and, overall, I found it well worth the time it took to read. I enjoyed the plot twists, the details in the traditions of the time, and the main plot. The only thing I felt lacking was more backround and development of characters.
