Talia Shaw has spent her adult life working as a scientist for a big pharmaceutical company. She's focused on saving lives, not living life. When her lab is broken into and it's clear someone is after the top secret formula she's working on, she turns to the one man she can trust. The same irresistible man she turned away years earlier because she was too young and naive to believe a sexy guy like Shane Landon could want her.

Shane Landon's bodyguard work for McKay-Taggart is the one thing that brings him satisfaction in his life. Relationships come in second to the job. Always. Then little brainiac Talia Shaw shows up in his backyard, frightened and on the run, and his world is turned upside down. And not just because she's found him naked in his outdoor shower, either.

With Talia's life in danger, Shane has to get her out of town and to her eccentric, hermit mentor who has the final piece of the formula she's been working on, while keeping her safe from the men who are after her. Guarding Talia's body certainly isn't any hardship, but he never expects to fall hard and fast for his best friend's little sister and the only woman who's ever really gotten under his skin.

5 Star Review of His To Protect by Carly Phillips This is part of the current Lexi Blake Crossover Collection and when I heard that Carly Phillips was going to be a part of this series I was excited. Having read numerous books from Ms.Phillips and virtually every book that Lexi Blake has written I couldn’t wait to see how these two worlds came together. Shane Landon is a bodyguard for McKay Taggart. When his best friend’s sister Talia Shaw lands on his doorstep terrified and on the run, Shane knows he will do everything in his power to protect her. Talia is a scientist who has been working on a top secret project, which has garnered the interest of some not so savoury characters. Can Shane keep Talia safe, whilst becoming more and more attracted to the hot scientist? After all he has been fighting his attraction to her for years and Talia has had a crush on SHane as well. I really liked Talia, not only is she smart, but she has such a strength of character that endears her to the reader. Shane is smoking hot and totally ticks all the boxes for me. Although not a particularly long read, His To Protect was extremely well written with fast paced action and danger. A great read and one I recommend.

I am a devoted Lexi Blake fan. Before this installment, I have enjoyed the other cross over books. However, at 129 pages, this novella leaves a lot to be desired. There is nothing fresh, new, unpredictable, or even believable about this story. I had the entire plot figured out by page 10, including the fast-forward HEA wedding at the end. Oh, don't worry. No need to announce any spoiler alert as even a blind reader could see that one being phoned in. I did give this 2 stars just because Ian Taggart makes a cameo appearance. All in all... I won't recommend Carly Phillips anytime soon.

Talia Shaw is in danger. When her brother contacts his old friend Shane Landon to protect her and keep her safe, old feelings rise to the top. Shane was always attracted to Talia, but being his buddies little sister meant she was off-limits. Now they are adults and will be spending 24/7 with each other until she is out of danger. Will they remain in the friend zone or is their mutual attraction too hard to resist. His to Protect has just the right amount of suspense and sexiness. I truly enjoyed this story. Carly Phillips never disappoints.

This novella is part of Lexi Blake's Crossover Collection from her Masters & Mercenaries series. I have never read any of the books in the original series, but it is not needed to enjoy this story. Talia Shaw is a scientist for a big pharmaceutical company and is working on a new formula that could change people's lives. Imagine her surprise when someone tries to break into her lab. Talia knows they are after her formula and she decides to hide and calls her brother. He tells her to head to Shane Landon's house to hide, since he is a body guard. Talia is hesitant to seek help from the one man she has always longed for, but at least she knows she can trust him. As Talia shows up at Shane Landon's house, she is very surprised to catch him showering outside, and all naked! Knowing that Shane needs to get Talia to safety, they have to swing by her apartment first to get her work that is safely hidden and then get her to her mentor who has the rest of the work. Of course on the way they run into all kinds of trouble. As Talia and Shane are spending more time together, things quickly heat up. After an explosive, action packed ending, these two finally get their happy ending. This was a fun, and quick moving story and both of the characters were really fun.

I've loved this Masters and Mercenaries Series by Lexi Black from the start, and truly love that Lexi continues to collaborate with amazing author's to bring us more novella's to fall in love with. It's the McKay-Taggart Agency. What is there not to love! Carly gives us a fast pasted friends to lovers story, under the McKay-Taggart Agency helm. We have our Alpha man, a brainiac scientists who is in danger, espionage, and all the difficulties that comes with falling in love with your best friends little sister. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the Novella's in the current Crossover Release. I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

ARC for honest review with no compensation His to Protect: A Bodyguard Bad Boys/Masters & Mercenaries by Carly Phillips (Lexi Blake Crossover, Book 5) was well written and took you into another author's series which I have not read but will be checking out! Shane Landon, a bodyguard at McKay-Taggart, has no time for long term relationships or love but finds himself being tested by the one woman who has held a piece of his heart from a long time ago...Talia Shaw, his best friend's sister...now she is in trouble and he will do whatever is necessary to keep her save, even if she ends up with his heart... Danger, suspense, chemistry between them, and romance, keeps you reading until the final word is reading and you say to yourself...OMG...Awesome! !

What an introduction to this novel! Instantly thrown in the action, and the characters meeting could not have been written better. I was instantly hooked in the book before the end of the first chapter. Immediately, we received great insight into the characters personalities, with their banter and outlooks on life and personal past history. It made them likable and easy to connect to right away. I like how Shane questioned they way he was seeing Talia and the connection with her. It made it more realistic with their attraction and love story. The amount of action for as short of a novel as it was, was great. You still got the love scenes and a decent story to go with it. The book was perfect length. The plot was good, it moved right along, and also had you wondering what next. If any of the other novels in this series by the other authors are like this, I’m in.

This was a great action packed novella! Talia has discovered a cure for a defect big pharma would rather not come to market. Smart enough to split her discovery up in pieces, she goes on the run with Shane, a bodyguard and her brother’s best friend who will keep her safe. They have been attracted to each other since high school, but haven’t seen each other in years. The chemistry between the couple is electric and this book is definitely one you will want to read in one sitting. Thanks to the author for a review copy.

This was such a great book, I could not put it down! I am a huge Carly Phillips fan and this novella was great addition to my collection of her books! Talia is a scientist and finds her lab has been broken into. She is in danger and her brother knows where she can go to stay safe. Shane Landon is a body guard and good friend of Talias brother, but he is also the one person Talia has always had crush on. Shane knows he can keep her safe, but he never expected to fell like this with his best friends sister. This book is full of action and adventure and of course, steamy romance. This was a fun and quick read, I would recommend this to anyone who loves a great action packed romance read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This one had me hooked right form the beginning. Plus it had one of my favorite troupes brother's best friend. Talia is making ground breaking research in her lab and someone doesn't want to see it to come to light. She runs to the one guy who can protect her. There is one part that my heart broke along with Talia's, but I thought what Shane ended up doing was super sweet. Talia is made of tough stuff and surprises Shane at every turn. To me this one had nonstop action. For a quick read it packed a punch with the story. Some of my favorite scenes were the ones with Ian. They were quite funny and it gave the book some humor during the intense moments.

Yes to His To Protect by Carly Phillips. Carly pulled off another sexy and wild romance with her newest Novella to add to the Masters and Mercenaries Crossover series. This is my 5th book I read and so far a favorite!!! Shane and Talia were the Taboo couple that you will come to love! You know rule #1? Never date your best friends little sister. The sparks flew in the past for these two but now a days, whoa! Firecrackers!! The Heat Factor was in another galaxy! The suspense was there and you would not be able to guess what was next. I love all there was about our sexy bodyguard

suspense filled, dramatic and energetic HIS TO PROTECT in instalment 2.5 (and novella) in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult, BODYGUARD BAD BOYS romantic suspense series, and a part of the multi-authored cross-over series Masters and Mercenaries by Lexi Blake. This is McKay-Taggart bodyguard and security specialist Shane Landon, and scientist Talia Shaw’s storyline. HIS TO PROTECT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives ( Talia and Shane) HIS TO PROTECT focuses on the protection of scientist Dr. Talia Shaw. With the development of a new heart drug on the horizon our heroine is targeted for the formula by an unknown source. Desperate for help, she calls her brother Tate, who calls in a favour from his childhood friend. Enter McKay-Taggart bodyguard Shane Landon, and the man with whom Talia will fall in love. What ensues is a cross-country road trip wherein our couple find themselves in the direct line of fire, as the struggle to stay one step ahead of the people intent on taking them down. The relationship between Talia and Shane is one of second chances, of sorts. Talia has been in love with her brother’s best friend for most of her life but Shane has kept his distance in respect of his best friend’s younger sister. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense. HIS TO PROTECT is a quick read; a suspense-filled, sexy and edgy story line. The premise is dramatic and energetic; the romance is intimate and provocative; the characters are inspiring and engaging.

Talia is a scientist doing her best to find a cure for a congenital heart defect that took her mother's life when she was a young girl. She has worked so hard to find the correct medicine to be able to fix this and she finally found it! However someone does not want her to publish her findings or to move forward with clinical trials. But who would sabotage her work, her life's mission, and who would be out to harm her? Talia calls her brother who is a bodyguard, but is on the other side of the world working, so he tells her to contact his best friend, and someone from her past...Shane. Shane is an ex-cop turned bodyguard. Talia shows up when he is in a bit of a predicament and it is a bit awkward considering their past, but they both move past that and Shane finds out why Talia is at his house. Shane instantly goes into protective mode and helps Talia find out what is going on and who is after her. Shane and Talia go on a mission and a bit of a road trip to Talia's mentor to help her figure out what is going on and to get a part of her formula, since she broke it up into three pieces just in case something like this would happen. There are fights, gun shots, car tails, and how exactly are they tracking Talia? They always seem to be able to find them. While they are running to Talia's mentor, Shane and Talia can't stop the attraction that the two of them have for each other. It was always there, even in high school, but neither knew how to handle the intense feelings they had. Now that they are older, can they trust them? Can Shane realize that Talia is not like his ex-wife and is strong and able to handle what he does for a living? Can Talia believe in their love and not be so cynical about it? These two are amazing together and have such great chemistry plus all the action makes this a fun, enjoyable read! Loved this novella! It’s another in the Lexi Blake crossover series this one features the sexy Shane Landon, a bodyguard at McKay-Taggart! Talia is a brainiac scientist and someone is after her latest discovery. She calls her brother Tate, and he tells her go to his friend Shane for help. Boy does she get a sexy eye full when she gets there! Love Shane and I love that he and Talia get a second chance! Cool story but a good one and very fast read. Love the way it ends!

Talia and Shane grew up together. Shane is Talia’s big brother’s best friend. Talia is a scientist that has just had a major break through that someone doesn’t want to see come to light. When she realizes someone is after her, she calls her brother, who sends her to Shane. Shane had a thing for Talia in high school, but never acted on it. Now she needs his help. The feelings are still there, so the question is, does he make his move, at this less than perfect time, or loose out on yet another chance to have her as his? This was a fast paced, brother’s best friend, second chance novella. I enjoyed the connection the two had, as well as the non stop action.

Talia has been researching a treatment for heart problems and she is very close to it’s completion when her lab is ransacked. She is now on the run with people after her and since her brother is out of the country he sends her to Shane, his best friend and her high school crush, to protect her. Shane works for McKay-Taggart but he has never forgotten the feelings he had for his brilliant tutor and the feelings he had for her are back stronger than ever. They end up going on an adventure to secure the missing part of the research but the race is on to see if they will be able to get it before the people chasing them do. These two are perfect for each other as Talia is no longer the shy girl she was in high school and she will do anything to protect her research while Shane will do anything to protect her. It is always great to catch up with McKay-Taggart team as well.

Talia Shaw is a dedicated scientist working on the cure for a congenital heart defect. When her results are threatened by an unknown group she finds herself asking for help from the past, Shane Landon. Shane loves what he does, working for McKay-Taggert Security Services as protection detail. He is the perfect solution to Talia's problem, but can he keep his feelings in check while offering the protection she desperately needs. They embark on a journey across the country to Talia's mentor for the remaining piece of the cure. As they are forced into close quarters and dangerous encounters it becomes apparent that fighting the pull between them is futile. Giving in was the best decision, but they still have to stay one step ahead of the group trying to keep the cure from reaching the masses. Talia Shaw has spent her entire life searching for a cure for heart defects. Finally close to the cure her lab is broken into and everything stolen. No where to turn she calls her brother Tate who tells her to go see Shane Landon knowing Shane will keep her safe. Guarding Talia is something Shane will do whole completely now if he can control the sparks flying between him and Talia. Neither of these two thought love was in their future but love shows them how wrong they were.

Loved this quick read from Carly. Wonderful story that moved at a great pace. You won't put it down til you are done. It was gripping and engaging. Talia finds herself in need of protection. Her brother sends her to an old friend. Shane can't believe he finds Talia in his backyard. As sparks fly from the start, they go on the run to protect her from an unknown source. Sparks lead to them realizing that maybe this can work.

I am always in the mood for a sexy bodyguard. I loved this pairing of Talia and Shane. They knew each other when they were younger...not only is he her brother’s best friend, but she also tutored him in high school until a fateful moment where they got a taste of what they could be. Now, she has to turn to him for help when some seriously bad guys are after the formula she’s created. While I wasn’t crazy about the fact that he kept comparing her to his ex-wife, I appreciated that he was conscientious of the the fact that he was doing it. And he was actively trying to stop because every time he expected her to act one way, she did the opposite. This is a quick read with a dash of suspense, a healthy dose of heat, and enough emotion to keep you reading til the end. I haven’t read much in Blake’s world, but I’m pretty well-versed in Phillips’ stories and it’s what you’ve come to expect. A great read that keeps you invested with a few smiles along the way. I’m definitely intrigued to read more of these crossovers Lexi has going!
