Hissy Fitz lives with some two-legged creatures who are destined to serve him in every possible way and understand his every whim. Sadly, these creatures are sorely lacking in their skills. For one thingthey touch him when they want to touch him. Don't they know that the two-legged are there for him to touch when he wants tomeaning when he wants food? Petting wakes him up! They speak to himdon't they know the two-legged should be seen (so Hissy knows where to demand food from) and not heard?! It's becoming intolerable. What is this irascible cat to do?

Synopsis- Hissy Fitz is definitely the master of his house. So how come Georgie, the young girl he lives with, can’t seem to tell when he wants to sleep, and talks and pets him nonstop! And the grown male in the house bangs on wood at the worst possible moments – when all Hissy wants to do is sleep and be left alone. And, Zeb, the littlest, is always yelling at and chasing Hissy – well, really anytime, but especially when Hissy wants to sleep! When will this grouchy cat ever get a chance to take a cat-nap in the house of the noisy Fitz family? What I Thought- This was a cute and funny book. Hissy is the ultimate grumpy cat, not stopping for a second to slice at, growl at, and HISS at the annoying 2 legged creatures that live with him. The story is funny, and brings out the very cat-like personality in Hissy. Hissy is a lazy, fat, grumpy, silver-blue cat. There are some funny illustrations scattered throughout the book. They add humor to the story. This is an excellent choice for young advanced readers who are just becoming independent. Mr. Jennings has written a very well-done story that I enjoyed reading. *NOTE* I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
What a fun book! I read this to my kids before bed and they always begged for another chapter. My kids found Hissy to be a funny character that they could laugh with. They especially enjoyed his dreams when he managed to catch a few minutes' sleep. The entire story revolves around an afternoon and night in the life of a sleep deprived cat. Hissy spends every word of the story looking for a safe, quiet place to nap, but his human family is too noisy. Once night falls, his hunting instinct switches on, making it impossible to sleep. At one point, the sleep deprivation becomes too much for Hissy—who is a grump to begin with—and he goes on a rampage. If you have a child age 7-9, this is a great book to read independently or together. My daughter (7) is currently rereading it, and enjoying it just as much the second time around!
