About the Author

Dr. Richard Jones is an associate professor at Texas Woman’s University in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.  Classically trained as a geologist, he has worked in state government, military, and industry, as well as academia.  His interests are in developing science literacy and civic engagement elements of a liberal arts education among non-traditional and non-science students.  Jones has developed courses in the history of science, earth science, and water chemistry which emphasize this perspective.  Current interests include water, petroleum, and the rise/impact of India and China on these and other global natural resources.
