Guarding clients is easy. Staying one step ahead of their match-making Grammy…well that’s another story. Bodyguards in Heels is a new series from USA Today bestselling author Angi Morgan. Join the girls in their favorite heels as they spend their family time learning about their supernatural gifts, their days guarding rich clients and their nights having a whole lot of fun.

A late-blooming ability to hear people’s thoughts ruins more than Hallie Barton’s carefully constructed FBI career. Shouldn’t the man who says he loves her believe in her rather than offer to pay for her psychiatric care?

Hallie’s grandmother calls it a gift and suggests the now single and former special agent use the skill in private investigations company that employs every cousin in their unusually large family. With all of her big-bad mind-reading abilities, shouldn’t she have known Grammy arranged for their first client to be the last person Hallie ever wanted to see again?

Level-headed FBI Agent Gage Owens can’t get Hallie, his former best friend and partner, to talk to him. He should’ve believed in Hallie when she said she could read people’s minds. Now he has two problems… Not only is he in love with a woman with woo-woo powers who won’t give him the time of day, but she’s the only one he can trust to protect a secret informant on one of the FBI’s Most Wanted. Can Hallie “hear” just how much he’s in love with her and forgive him the stupidest mistake of his life?

Hit and Run Hallie, the start of a new series by Angi Morgan, is a little bit mystery, a little bit romance, a little bit magic, and a whole lot Texas. This novella kicks off her new Bodyguards in Heels series. If you are a fan of her Intrigues this is a little bit of a departure. However, it is seriously fun and definitely worth a read. I especially love the interaction between Hallie and her grandmother. Patty Mitchum has the potential to be a great character along the lines of Grandma Mazer from the Stephanie Plum books. I am hooked on this series and can’t wait to see the characters continue to develop. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novella.

Hit and Run Hallie by Angi Morgan was one of those books that pulled me in from the first page. I hated to put it down to take care of "real life". Hallie is a former FBI agent who has returned to Dallas to start her life over. Her new found "gift" caused her to lose focus during a sting operation and she left the FBI and the man she loved. Her partner, Gage Sanders, has been her friend since college and became her partner at the FBI. Unfortunately, he didn't believe in her "gift". Yeah, you know what happens next. He'll have to learn to "believe" or lose the woman he loves - again. Ms. Morgan writes a fast paced story filled with characters that you just want to sit down with and get to know. I loved Grammy/Patty! There were several twists to the story that upped the supense to "edge of the seat" reading. If you like books that have suspense and romance with a touch of paranormal, make this one your next read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own and not influenced by the author.

Hallie Barton and Gage Owens had been friends in university, then partners and lovers in the FBI, until Hallie made a mistake and she left the Bureau. She loved her job, it’s just those pesky voices she kept hearing that made life exceedingly difficult. She went back home to Texas to her grandmother, who explained that Hallie had a gift. Grammy Patty also has a surprise for Hallie: she has taken all the steps for Hallie to have her own bodyguard agency, where Grammy is also the receptionist. Grammy’s gift is seeing the “love auras” of people, she’s always known that Hallie and Gage belong together, so a little nudge to destiny should do the trick. HIT AND RUN HALLIE first appeared in the Twelve Shades of Midnight anthology, and Ms. Morgan expanded it to form book 1 of Bodyguards in Heels, and it is brilliant! Angi Morgan is one of my favourite romantic suspense authors, but I wasn’t sure what she would do with an added dash of paranormal, and I loved every second of it! The paranormal angle is subtle: the abilities Hallie, her cousins Emma and Essie, and Grammy possess are more like various forms of ESP, I totally believed in it, and I loved how they are all slightly befuddled by their gifts, and it was never over the top. While there is a solid suspenseful story, as expected from the author, and some lovely romance, the real strength of HIT AND RUN HALLIE lies in the wonderfully developed and very appealing characters. They are truly strong women, all very different and they are the stars of the show, even with Grammy’s matchmaking! I also loved how Ms. Morgan made the black and white medium into a very colourful environment; this is fine writing! HIT AND RUN HALLIE is a smashing debut to what will be a splendid series! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
