Overview

Beautiful, vivacious Emma Prescott has a love-'em-and-leave-'em reputation. Fact is, Emma's holding off for a hero. When she moves to a cabin at wilderness Loon Lake and meets her one neighbour, biology professor Frasier MacKenzie, he's still just another guy, even with his killer blue eyes and a body that just won't quit...until he rescues her and her Pug from one danger after another, from drowning to wild animals to a pair of armed and angry drug dealers. Then he definitely falls into hero territory.
But the professor has no intention of filling the role of white knight in Emma's life. All he wants is to be rid of her and her annoying little dog so he can get on with his "research." In fact, he's ordered to get rid of them whether he wants to or not.
Looks as if Emma may have to go on holding off for a hero...

Holding Off For A Hero is a well-written, enjoyable tale containing humor, mystery, interesting twists, and romance. It has all the elements to make it a thoroughly entertaining and delightful read. Emma finds herself involved in one calamity after another, but her tenacious spirit has her triumphing over adversity with the help of her sexy neighbor.  Frasier, who carries the title of hermit, is uneager to help Emma but finds himself becoming her reluctant hero much to his chagrin. The attraction between the two heats up as they persevere through one mishap after another. Gail McMillan delivers a witty and imaginative story that will have you following her protagonists as they find themselves fighting the attraction that seems to draw them together while trying to solve a mystery. The characters are likeable, real, and will capture your interest.  The story moved smoothly and will keep you entertained until the end. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes a little mystery with their romance with an added dose of humor and adventure.  I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and participation in a virtual book tour event hosted by Goddess Fish. I recieved a copy of Holding Off for a Hero in exchange for an honest review. Holding Off for a Hero was very well written and a delightful read. The story revolves around two characters Emma Prescott and Frasier MacKenzie. Emma is a beautiful guidance counsellor at a high school for troubled teens who winds up staying at a secluded cabin at Loon Lake where she meets a biology professor Frasier who resides in another cabin next to hers. Emma becomes infatuated with Frasier as does he with her, although he gives her the impression that he is not. Frasier tries everything in his power to send her and her little Pug packing, all because his number one priority is chasing after some mysterious Eastern panther around Loon Lake. Frasier's attempts to try and get rid of Emma fails and strange things begin to happen, that makes Frasier not only fear for Emma's well being, but to start becoming suspicious of her as well. Will Frasier become Emma's Hero? You will have to read it to find out! I enjoyed reading Holding Off For A Hero, it was a funloving little story.
