Girl, Interrupted meet Beautiful Disaster in this thrilling and sexy debut novel, in which a college student learns her perfect life is a lie and finds new love where she least expects it—a mental institution.

Freaks, misfits, and psychopaths. Those are the kinds of people found at Newton Heights Psychiatric Hospital, and high-society girl Lucy White’s new home.

Freaks, misfits, and Jayden McCray. Jayden has his own set of rules for life at Newton Heights, and in this enigma, Lucy finds a way to live with the events that left her cheating boyfriend and best friend dead—and Lucy in the middle of the investigation into their demise.

The problem? Jayden makes her want things she’s not supposed to have, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality and making Lucy feel more at home in Newton Heights than she ever did at home. But this isn’t how her life is supposed to be…

Hollow is so well written it will quickly have you immersed within its pages and invested in the compelling characters and their stories. How is that the one night Lucy White would rather forget became the one night that would change the rest of her life!! Lucy White is living a nightmare one that started out as a fight with her boyfriend and has resulted in her being placed in Newton Heights Psychiatric Hospital. But sometimes life has a way of putting us right where we need to be. Can Lucy find what she needs and will those around her become more important to her than she first realised. I really enjoyed Hollow and look forward to reading more of the characters from this book, Do yourself a favour add Hollow to your TBR list you won't be disappointed.

The characters are very 3-dimensional, with quirks and baggage, joys and sorrows in their lives. Between the young woman and man, there is perfect tension and tender moments. The setting of the institution is vivid, and the writing overall is very strong. This is an up and coming New Adult read. If you're looking for this trend, HOLLOW is a must-read!

Characters were two dimensional with no connection. The story was told not shown. Found myself skimming. I had high hopes for this it and it severely lacked...everything. don't waste your time/ money.

I’m not entirely sure of how I feel about this book. Hollow tells us the story of Lucy White. After a tragic night, she finds herself being investigated for manslaughter. At the advice of her attorney and the insistence of her mother, she admits herself to a mental institution. Once there, Lucy faces the monumental task of finding herself – an objective made that much more difficult each time her mother visits and reveals family secrets. Ms. Conway made it easy to hate Lucy’s mother. The woman was so self-involved that it blew my mind – and I have known some extremely self-involved people. I was not surprised that Lucy finally went off on her mother; frankly, I was surprised it took her that long.  If Lucy’s mother represented the dark cloud in her life, Jayden was her light. While I liked Jayden’s protectiveness of others, especially Flynn, Nesto, and Lucy, and the way in which he found his place within the ward, I never quite connected with him. Or Lucy for that matter. I enjoyed their relationship – the way they bantered, the way they listened to one another, the way they gave the other hope – but something was missing for me that prevented me from connecting the characters fully. Normally I would give a book like this 3 stars for being a good read. However, this is a really well-written book and I did enjoy it. I actually loved the way in which Ms. Conway ended the book. As odd as this may sound, I don’t want to read the sequel if it’s about Lucy and Jayden. I don’t want to know what happens to them next. I like their story as it is … ending in hope and THAT is why I gave Hollow four stars.  I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.  Reviewed by Angela at Crystal's Many Reviewers!

Intriguing, Romantic and Engaging ''Hollow'' is a wonderfully intriguing novel that mixes fantasy with reality, emotionally charged drama with suspenseful mystery to create a highly enjoyable story for the reader. The story centers around Lucy as she has her life turned upside down when she finds herself in Newton Heights Psychiatric Hospital after her best friend and boyfriend die. As Lucy deals with the fallout of their deaths and the investigation of them Jayden comes into her life and brings with him a brush with fantasy, clarity and love that one would think unavailable in a mental ward.  The fast-paced novel is well-written with a lush, sharp and engaging tone that just sucks you in from start to finish. The romance between Lucy and Jayden is incredibly authentic and compelling, taking you along on a fantastical ride that is a little less grounded in reality, but that consumes you anyways. Overall, the novel is very enjoyable and engaging... well worth the read.

Hands down the best new adult romance I've ever read. Hollow by Ava Conway was impossible to put down. It was a raw, powerful read that just kept you flipping the pages. I absolutely adored Lucy and Jayden. I can't wait to read more from this author!
