First time reading this author but it won't be the last. Loved the descriptions of the western landscape and felt I was there listening to the rain pelting the covered wagon, soaked to the skin and shivering, or sweating over the fire cooking a meal. I loved the hero and heroine and all the secondary characters and they were all very well thought out, to play their part in the story. This is a wonderful romance with a little suspense. I have a few very favorite authors and I will be adding this one to my list. JudyE

A gorgeously written Historical Western Romance featuring a smart, resourceful and loyal heroine and the strong, swoon-worthy alpha male who falls in love with her despite his best efforts. The Old West setting is  beautifully evoked, from lawless frontier towns to the trials and tribulations faced by wagon train pioneers.  The supporting characters are sharply drawn, each one of them a fully realized dimensional character in their own rights.   There's action and danger and adventure - never a dull moment!  And of course, a heartfelt romance that makes the reader sigh happily when the book, sadly, comes to an end.  Ms. Ankrum is a highly skilled author and I very much look forward to her future books. I read a LOT of romance, and it's rare that I give a book five stars. However, I highly recommend this book to everyone - well, everyone except silly old men who know little about this genre and even less about what constitutes good writing.  Life is truly too short to give them a second thought.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me in suspense, and I had to finish reading before I could rest. Some of the story seems far fetched but I did not care! I am glad I took advance on this book.

Living in the west myself, I always enjoy a good love story set here. Ankrum certainly doesn't disappoint. I finished this delightful book wondering if we might hear more from Clay and Kierin down the road!

My first read of this author; I'll be reading more! This is not my usual time-period for historical romance, but I enjoyed it enough that I'll visit this time more often. Good story line. Developed characters, though you didn't get bogged down in wordy details to get their stories. Lots of "councidences" to make the story work, but they were all plausible. Well worth the time spent between the covers!

This book was interesting. The male lead was alpha and the female lead was mostly agreeable. There was wagon train adventure. I don't like stories where the male is tauted as strong but then it is barely seen. The romance was okay. The ending was okay.
