I felt like I was living in old Ireland and understanding their history better. The old stuggle of a human being, who happens to be a priest, falling in love with a young lady from his parish. It makes the priest more human.

After reading this book, I felt that it would make a good movie. Ms Glenn writes a very infomative and colorful story. It also keeps one in suspense waiting to find out the final outcome. I recommend it highly.

In her book, HOLY ORDERS, Rosemary Glenn opens the door to Irish history through the lives of a young priest and the people of his church. Knowing nothing about Ireland, I felt like I was seeing right into the heart of these people and their history. The battle of emotions and loyalties between Father Brennan, Beth and his church kept me glued to the book!!

I have been an avid reader of Rosemary Glenn's short stories and was very pleased to see a longer work of fiction added to her list of credits. And, once I began to read Holy Orders, I soon realized that the story lived up to Glenn's previous high standards. From the rolling hills of Ireland to the harshness of Welsh mines, Glenn brings her reader on an historical and spiritual journey filled with passion. The main characters, Father Terrence Brennan and Beth Rourke, are deep and intriguing - fraught with human frailty yet, at times, stunningly heroic. Richly written, Holy Orders is a book that brought me back to a time in Irish history when there was little to separate gentle dreams and harsh reality. I highly recommend this book.

The novel, 'Holy Orders', by Ms. Rosemary Glenn, is the story of a family torn apart by civil war and religious strife. Set against the backdrop of the Irish Civil (Republican) war of 1910, 'Holy Orders' follows a family fleeing violence in both their country and personal life. Trying to find peace within the Catholic Church, but only discovering greater hardships in their new home. Deeply textured with a love for an Ireland that is long gone. Ms. Glenn captures the fear and resilience a family must have felt in such a harsh time. A heartfelt and uplifting novel. KUDOS to Ms. Glenn!!!
