About the Author

Sara Richardson grew up chasing adventure in Colorado's rugged mountains. She's climbed to the top of a 14,000 foot peak at midnight, swum through Class IV rapids, completed her wilderness first-aid certification, and spent seven days at a time tromping through the wilderness with a thirty-pound backpack strapped to her shoulders.

Eventually Sara did the responsible thing and got an education in writing and journalism. After a brief stint in the corporate writing world, she stopped ignoring the voices in her head and started writing fiction. Now she uses her experience as a mountain adventure guide to write stories that incorporate adventure with romance. Still indulging her adventurous spirit, Sara lives and plays in Colorado with her saint of a husband and two young sons.

"Hometown Cowboy" was an unexpected, emotional ride (and I mean that in a good way). Lance has had the responsibility for the world on his shoulders since his mother left their family when he was 14 years old and he took on the care of his two younger brothers while his father was on the rodeo circuit. As he was just a kid, he made the best choices he could, but they may not have been best all around- such as letting the good, middle child take the fall for the youngest's arson and then having them both leave town. Lance is now living with his father on the ranch while he trains for the Worlds. Jessa runs an animal shelter which is struggling financially. She has also been struggling romantically- she has had a few engagements that have fallen through, but she hasn't given up hope for finding the right guy. However, the book begins with her being stood up and then dumped via text by her current boyfriend. Since her father died, she has been cared for by Luis, Lance's father and father-figure to Jessa. She begins to notice some things that are off about Luis, and Lance asks her to stay and watch her father while he trains for Worlds- and if she does so, he'll donate half his winnings to the animal shelter. However, being in such close quarters, their romance sizzles and they may not be able to resist the feelings developing between them. With a slow build and some intense attraction, I was totally invested in Lance and Jessa. My only concern was that he only became interested in her when she started dressing more nicely and noticed her body. However, they spend more and more time together so the feelings underneath also grow. The part of the book I liked the least was Naomi, Jessa and Lance's friend, who has decided they absolutely should not be together, and really puts herself in the way. Considering she is featured in the next book, I would have liked her to be more of a sympathetic character that I wanted to learn more about, but it almost seemed like she was jealous or something and not a great friend. This might just be my take on it, and I would be curious to see if this is explained in the next book better. Overall, with sizzling romance, meddling pigs, and personal growth, this book was a win for me, and I really enjoyed reading it. Please note that I received a copy through a giveaway. All opinions are my own.

I had so much fun reading this and getting to know Jessa and Lance. It was just so entertaining and sweet. By the end, I was smiling big time! A hot, stubborn cowboy plus a woman who is trying to avoid love? Those two combined made for such a great story. I loved getting to learn Jessa and Lance’s histories and watch them open up. I thought they had fun chemistry and I liked their flirting and banter. I loved the humor and Jessa’s attitude about love. They both have some issues they were working on and I liked the drama that those things brought to the story. This was just fun to read and lose myself in, totally enjoyable. There was a great cast of characters. I liked Jessa’s relationship with her girlfriends and how sweet that was. The relationships between the women brought some laugher to the story and was really entertaining. I loved the male bonding with the brothers, I am such a sucker for that. They had a really interesting back story that seemed to very much shape who they are. It will be fun to see where the series goes and what adventures will happen. For the most part I felt this was a light read but there were some serious moments involved and emotions came into play, I like how it all blended together. I really liked the overall story and details. Not overly in depth but it was really descriptive and had a great build. I thought the writing was really good. The first half seemed a bit drawn out to me but the second half had a great flow. Low heat. Nice drama. Awesome connection between the main characters. I was kind of back and forth between liking and loving it but the last 25% pushed me over to love! Such a sweet love story about people finding love, healing, and truly connecting! Jessa Mae Love is a small-town vet who is unlucky in love. She starts right off by being dumped via text, which also makes her lose her number one donor. Lance Cortez has been busy training for his next rodeo. However, when his dad’s heath takes a turn for the worst, he feels he has no choice but to find a way to help him. His best solution is to talk his dad’s friend Jessa to move in with them. This sounded like a cute and quick read. However, I really just didn’t like Jessa very well. I also didn’t care for Lance. Unfortunately because of that I just couldn’t get into this book. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

This is the first book in the series and it was a great start. I got sucked right into the book and I couldn't put it down. There were moments in the book that had me tearing up. I really enjoyed the characters. I liked the banter between them. I also liked the close friendship the women have. Lance's past has jaded him on the thought of marriage, but sometimes it just takes the right woman. Even though Jessa's love life has let her down so many times she still has her heart set on her own HEA. What happens when a romantic soul and a commitment phobe come together, well you're going to find out in his one. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is a fantastic introduction to Richardson’s new series. We get to meet some great characters and have little glimpses at what is probably going to be future story-lines, but without cheating these two out of a well-deserved HEA. Jessa is a kind-hearted, giving person … and Lance is her opposite – closed-off, gruff, and private, he’s got a big heart but he’s also got some demons. When Jessa’s friendship with Lance’s dad puts them in each other’s orbit, Lance is thrown for a loop. He should definitely be staying far away from the good girl looking for Prince Charming, but there’s something about her that just draws him in. The back and forth between these two is a ton of fun. He’s all prickly and she’s got a ton of spirit, so you know that sparks will fly. They both know that they shouldn’t be together but the attraction is just too hard to resist. After the required blow-ups and misunderstandings, hurt feelings and apologies, everything comes together well. Between his brothers & her friends you know that there are more of these to come and I’m looking forward to it. These people all need things to go their way as soon as possible. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***

I absolutely loved this story. Jessa and Lance had me laughing out loud so many times. I also loved that Lance cared so much about his father. Nothing like a sexy cowboy who loves kids and older people. This small town romance was chock full of awesome characters. I can't wait to see them in future books in this series. Lance and Jessa's path to a HEA is not an easy one but their journey sure made a fantastic read. ARC provided by the publisher via Netgalley

After watching his mother walk away years ago Lance Cortez developed a bone deep resistance to love, he just doesn't see the point in it plain and simple, you risk putting yourself out there only to have that person pack up and leave town when things get too tough. So, he's always put off an unavailable vibe when woman start to get ideas and think he might be interested in them for more than just a night or two. But for the first time in his life he's met a woman who found a way to sneak under the radar, problem is she has no idea that she's done it, nor does she seem interested in him at all. The minute he sees Jessa Mae Love in a whole new light he starts to crave her, wants to spend time with her, but she seems to be completely unaware of the vibes he is sending her way...so now he's forced to get a little creative in order to lure her in!! Jessa Mae Love is tired of getting her hopes up, thinking her happily ever after is about to happen, and then having the man in her life walk away. Her recent break-up is the last straw, she is done with men, dating, relationships...all of it! She has decided to just focus on her work for now, and take a little break from love, but continue to hold out hope that it will someday find her. But her little "no men" plan takes a hit when sexy bull rider Lance Cortez lures her into his world... Nobody does small town romances quite like Ms. Richardson, she has a knack for creating these heartfelt stories that pull you in completely from the first chapter, have you instantly taken with her endearing characters by the second, and not ever wanting to leave them by the third! I loved everything about Jessa and Lance's story, it had moments that touched my heart, moments that left me smiling, and of course a few toe curling moments that had me swooning. I am a sucker for a good small town romance story, especially one with a hot cowboy at the helm, and I have to say this one definitely hit the mark... and then some!! Highly recommend this charming little read, it's sure to leave you with a happy heart and maybe even a cowboy crush too!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

3.5 stars I downloaded this on a whim, looking for some new sorbet authors. I really liked Jessa. She's genuinely a good person, loyal, loving and so kind. I truly enjoyed being in her head. Lance is stubborn and stand off ish and maybe a bit cocky and he wears it well. Their UST was off the charts. The plot was sweet and funny and maybe a bit heartbreaking. Of course there's the angry break up and grand gesture, but it was the epilogue that was the best. And with this great cast of her bffs and his brothers, I'm hoping everyone gets paired off for more books. Overall, a quick and cute read with a majority satisfying ending. I'll definitely be looking for other books in the series. **Huge thanks to Forever and NetGalley for providing the arc free of charge**

The best gifts are the ones presented with love. Words to live by. Hometown Cowboy has LOVE written all over it. Ms. Richardson's kinship with her readers is evident with every word she writes and each character she creates. She targets the heart and scores with every aim. Hometown Cowboy starts with regrets and sorrow but gradually builds with a brighter hope for a better tomorrow. Lance and Jessa's path is not always pretty, but it's built on real emotion and not manufactured in any way. To heal the pain of the past, we have to face it, accept it and move forward. I never tire of this author, her melodies always hit the right chord with me.
