About HOOFBEATS ON HER HEART

Marcie is the object of scorn and ridicule for the most popular group of girls in her seventh grade. Her clothes are hand-me-downs and she lives on the wrong side of town in a shabby house. HOOFBEATS ON HER HEART is about Marcie growing up with a horse changing her life.

Peaches is the Tennessee Walking Horse mare that becomes Marcie's only friend. Because of Peaches and her owner, Mr. Ted, and Moonie, Peaches' foal, Marcie is soon successful in the horse show ring. However, the school bullying gets worse when girls begin to interact with boys at school.

A surprising confrontation ends Marcie's problems with the other girls. A second surprise shows her how her adult life will develop. For girls who love horses, this book offers an insight into the show horse world. It talks about the bullies prevalent in today's schools. It offers strength for how to be the best you can be in spite of your problems.

About the Author

HOOFBEAtS ON HER HEART is the second book published by Peggy Kime. Peggy grew up in the western part of the state of New York. She was the only child of older parents who bought her first horse for her eighth birthday. She is an avid proponent of young people signing up for riding lessons and having an education on owning a horse before acquiring one.

After receiving her degree, Peggy married Jim, a Korean veteran who settled on a career in heavy construction. They raised their three children while moving from location to location for the construction work, often living at dam sites. The child-raising years seemed unorthodox to parents not in the same business. From dams they moved to nuclear power plants under construction. Where ever they moved, Peggy would always find a way to have a horse or two in her life.

In her semi-retirement, she wrote the book CHANGING PLACES, about that long era in her family life. Her goal for that title was to leave a legacy for her children and grandchildren.

HOOFBEATS ON HER HEART is written to target middle school girls. The book tells the story of Marcie and a horse and the way she deals with mean girls and bullying in school. the author, herself, has experience with horses and with bullies. HOOFBEATS ON HER HEART by Peggy Kime will be loved by young girls everywhere who love horses.
