I enjoyed this collection of poems especially the poem titled, "Camel". These poems and illustrations go well together and the block prints of each animals poem would make great tee-shirts. Besides the art, the Lee Bennet Hopkins does a great job describing each animal and gives them the characters they so deserve. I especially enjoyed the first peom as well, Ruby. My daughters name is Ruby and her favorite animal is the dog and she found it awesome that this dog was so strong but sweet.

The illustrations are dark and deep. This book is not your typical children's poetry book about the fluffy animals and cuties. This book allows for the readers intrepetation of the illustrations and allows for personality.
