I'm stuck in the friend zone with the hottest guy I've ever known. Oh, and he's my best friend.

Zach pushes me away the moment sparks fly, and sparks have been flying since the day we met. Either I have a serious case of body odor I'm not aware of, or he's intentionally keeping me at a distance.

The way I see it, I have two options. I can leave town and make a fresh start, or I can show Zach how right we are for each other.

Only one of those options has the potential to ruin the best friendship I've ever had. But I'm considering risking it all for love.

"Nessa." His voice is a strangled growl.

"This shouldn't be a big deal. You said you're not attracted to me," I remind him."I didn't say that."

"You said there's nothing to worry about, and that I should make myself comfortable.""I didn't think you were gonna skinny-dip."

A RITA-nominated, sexy, friends-to-lovers romance that will pull your emotional heartstrings. Grab it now!

3 - She's a good girl. And I'm no boy next door. Stars! If you are on the look-out for a quick, sexy, medium level drama read, then I think Blue Streak fits into that box quite well. Book four in Jules Barnard's Blue series, this can easily be read as a standalone, I haven't read any of the previous books in the series, and I don't think it affected my reading enjoyment at all. Zach and Nessa have been friends for a long time, and while neither has taken it further, both are harboring some seriously lusty thoughts for the other. Zach is the player, while Nessa watches on with equal parts dismay and annoyance that he has put her firmly in the 'Friend-Zone'. That is until one night alone together, with one to many margaritas, and a hot tub are thrown into the equation. Zach is keeping some pretty heavy secrets when he and Nessa do decide to get it together, and rather than fess up he hopes that he can keep them from ever being discovered. As you would expect that idea doesn't work out so well for him, when Nessa, in the wrong place at the wrong time, see's something that will take some pretty serious explaining, and his only hope of reconciliation is to spill the beans. I don't deserve her, but the thought of losing her makes me crazy. Told in dual POV it was good too see inside both Zack and Nessa's heads as their story developed. This is the first work I have read by this author, and after finishing Blue Streak I would certainly consider reading more from her in the future! ARC generously provided in exchange for the above honest review.

I'm a big fan of Jules Barnard and couldn't wait to get my hands on Blue Streak. I love the characters, the setting, the drama-filled relationships she writes and Blue Streak is no exception. This time, we get to spend time with Nessa and Zach. Spunky little Nessa has been one of my favorite characters since the first Blue series book I picked up. It was fun to get inside her head and understand what makes her tick. And what makes her tick is Zach. Since I've been wanting a peek inside his head for awhile now, this made me one happy reader. Nessa is as fun-loving as ever as she pines for Zach. Zach's got a pretty messed up past which drives his non-committal ways. Because this is a novella, the story moves along at a rather clipped pace and that's really my only complaint. I would have loved to have spent more time with them, watching the push and pull that Jules Barnard is famous for. Plot The plot is a pretty straightforward romance. The chemistry between Zach and Nessa is among the best in the series, so when they finally get together, it's intense and satisfying. Even though it wasn't a full-length novel, there was still a couple of subplots that worked well. Characters What can I say? I love Zach and Nessa and this was a fun, fast read. The Ending Although it came too quickly for me, it was a satisfying conclusion to Zach and Nessa's story. Top Five Things I Love About  Blue Streak 1. Nessa. I just adore her spunky personality. 2. Zach. He's been my favorite character for a couple of books now, and now I know why. 3. Zach's Dad. He's far from perfect, but the way he's still so devoted to Zach's mom just slays me. 4. Mira. Still love her. 5. Hot Tubs. One of the steamiest scenes I've read that didn't involve sex (although it comes soon after :-) ). Bottom Line Blue Streak is a worthy addition to the Blue series. I only wish it was longer! Disclaimer I was provided a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet, fun, sexy novella . Zach is a player, or at least that is what he appears to be. Nessa can't help herself, she still wants him with all her heart. After one drunken night together, Zach knows Nessa is the one for him but will she stick after she learns of his past?? You will want to read this one to watch as Zach and Nessa realize that forgetting what someone was and focusing on what they can be is the way to true happiness. I recommend it!

This was my first Jules Barnard book, but it defintely won't be my last.  Nessa has been in love with Zach since she met him, but she thinks he treats her like a sister.  She's tired of watching him with other women and feeling hurt by it.  Zach is ashamed of things he's done in his past and it shades his opinion of himself, therefore he keeps himself away from Nessa in any romantic sense.   Blue Streak was a short and sweet story about how we see ourselves and how it affects our relationships with others.  It's a story about breaking down the walls we put up to protect ourselves and to protect others from ourselves.  Nessa and Zach both had the wrong idea about the other and probably would have gone on that way if not for one of them finally deciding to do something about their feelings.

Blue Streak is a New Adult Romance written in first person dual POV’s, which just so happens to be my favorite. This was an easy, fun novella where the heroine and hero have the hots for each other, but the hero thinks he’s too flawed to be worthy of the heroine. Hence, commencement of the friend zone. The set-up was great. Nessa is questioning the direction of her life and that includes her waitressing job at the Blue Casino along with the friend zone predicament of the man she’s in love with, Zach. I loved that Nessa and Zach work at the casino and are forced to orbit each other. Nessa is constantly reminded that Zach is only interested in friendship when he parades his dates in front of her. But when Nessa ventures out with a few friendly patrons from work…Zach starts to realize the friend zone kinda sucks, too. Nessa unwittingly breaks down the “zone” and then goes all wrecking ball on Zach. I really liked that Nessa knew what she wanted from Zach and that she was the one who initiated the relationship. I liked the angst and drama of their miscommunication (or no communication, at times). However much I enjoyed this story, I think this had a great premise for a full-length novel, and I wished the author had “gone there.” I needed more emotion from Zach and how he was dealing with the tragedies in his life, especially with the big reveal at the end. Now with Nessa…I was confused as to why she chose to stay in a town without any of her family nearby after graduating college, and she was questioning that, too. Also, I found it a little odd that after a year of friendship, Nessa and Zach really didn’t know each other. I understand that Zach wanted to distance himself from Nessa, but how could he never know anything about her family or her past after all that time? So, they fell in love blindly and then did nothing about it. For that reason, this felt very “insta-love” to me, but I’m not mad at it. This was my first introduction to the author and the series, and I’m definitely intrigued to see more. Great job. *I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This was my first book by Jules, but certainly is not the last one! I loved this short novella. It’s perfect for an evening with a book and glass of wine (that’s what I did!). In here we meet Nessa, who is in love with her childhood friend, Zach. But she is tired. She is tired watching him and standing by, not saying anything when he is changing girls everyday. She wants to move on. What she didn’t expect is the fact that Zach has also feeling for her. But life is not so simple. He has a secret. A dark one and he is determined to keep it a secret. This was an amazing read. What I liked, that I didn’t get lost even though I haven’t read previous parts, but this story made me one-clicked an all of them :D

Jules Barnard has quite the talent of taking all the themes and expectations of the New Adult genre and taking them deeper, creating a story that is raw, beautiful, and perfect. BLUE STREAK is no different. Nessa and Zach were some of the constant secondary characters for the entire Blue Series and when I saw that they had their moment to shine I could not contain my excitement, and I was not disappointed. My only regret was that their story was a novella. I could have read pages and pages of their story and loved every second of it! In BLUE STREAK we begin to understand more of who Nessa and Zach are as individuals. Nessa is a beautiful soul who is head over heels for her best friend. Her heart breaks every time he is with another woman and she longs for him to return her affection. She is a strong woman who deserves to be loved and cherished in every way possible. Zach is the typical snapshot of a player. He gets what he needs emotionally from his friendship with Nessa and his physical needs are met by all the faceless women he sleeps with. His heart is with Nessa but his past makes him think he could never deserve her. This novella finally sheds light on Zach’s source of hesitation, his affair with his mother’s friend. This is a bit of a heavy issue to bring into a book and to use this theme in a novella is a bit risky. However, Jules makes every word and emotion count in this short story and we understand what is happening and the emotional toll it has taken on everyone. The chemistry between these two is hot. They are friendship on fire, which is one of the best kinds or romances. The have the friendship foundation that will allow them to go the distance and last for a lifetime. Nessa and Zach are both such fabulous characters who click. Their story is beautiful and sweet. The humor and banter in this story is top notch! This novella is the perfect story for these two favorites from the series and I love that we finally see the moment when they come together as something more. Fans of the Blue Series will love this novella and enjoy seeing all our favorites from the series! Don’t miss this novella!

I was given a copy of this novella in exchange for an honest review. This book is part of a series but can stand alone.  This story is about two young people in their early 20’s… Nessa and Zach. They have been friends for over a year but unbeknownst to each other.,.. they both want more from their relationship.  Zach is a “player” and he had a secret that he does not want Nessa to find out about. This secret is what is keeping him from pursuing her and asking for more than friendship. Nessa is growing tired and frustrated watching him and his “one night stands.”  She summons her courage and decides to act on her feelings.  What happens when she does pursue him is what this book is all about. Will it change their feelings or will they find their HEA?  I am long past the angst of the 20’s and the dating scene so I was not sure I would like the book.  I was surprised to find that I became so engrossed in the story line and look forward to reading more books in the series.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review. Nessa is a waitress at Blue Casino and Zach is a Blackjack dealer. The two have been friends for a while but their true feelings lie deep under their skin. Nessa is tired of being ignored so she takes drastic steps to make sure she is noticed. Zach is hiding a secret that he thinks will scare Nessa away when it's revealed. Little does he know.  Barnard is a great writer who pulls you into her books from the 1st page. You just want to keep reading her books long after they end. The Blue Streak series is very addictive and I have enjoyed all of the stories so far.

I love Jules's writing style and she did not disappoint in this short story!! I fell in love with Nessa and Zack immediately after starting the book. Thank Jules for another great read!! Nessa is a young lady that has had a mad crush on Zack, her best friend, for awhile. Neither one of them has acted on the attraction between them for fear of what it would do to their relationship. Nessa finally gets enough liquid courage one night to make a move on Zack and she does not regret it. She may have her doubts that she made the right move, but does not regret it. She wanted Zack to know how she felt about him. Zack has a past that haunts him with a woman that he really has no interest in. She was just a comfort during his hard time in life of his mom's accident. Zack decides to clean up his act once Nessa reveals her true feelings for him but he has no idea how his actions of ending it with his past mistress can effect him and Nessa. Nessa is very unsure of their relationship at first and doubts many things. At one point in the books I wanted to scream at Nessa and tell her to wake up!! I didn't want her to loose what she had wanted for years. I am so glad that this story ended with a HEA for these two though!! Such a great story by Jules, once again!! I was given a copy for an honest review!
