About the Author

Author Sylvia Duncan was born and raised in Indiana. She is a graduate of Indiana University and has dedicated more than two decades to teaching English on the high school level in Indiana, Michigan, and Colorado. Her recent retirement allowed her the time to delve into genealogical research. Her great-grandmother had always been revered in the tales her mother had told her, so Duncan began her family research with this interesting woman. A whole new world of Miriam Coulter Pence's life and times opened up for the author, and the story needed to be told of an era in American history that deserves to be remembered.

Hoosier Woman is the author's debut novel. She lives in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, with her husband of 42 years.
