Hope for Her (Hope Series, #1) by Sydney Aaliyah Michelle

No one ever expected much from him.

Joshua Elijah Griffin, IV is on his last chance. A stint in rehab and a transfer to a new school has scared him into putting his life on track. He’s determined to live up to his family’s expectations, but on the first day of class, Josh meets a girl, and he knows his father won’t approve, but in Carrington, he sees a kindred spirit. He's willing to give up everything to be with her.

No one ever thought she was special.

Carrington Olivia Butler is ready to shine. Always in the shadows of her siblings, she goes away to college to break out of her shell. All Carrington wants is to feel special. Josh's attention is exactly what she craves, but their intense and sometimes volatile relationship is more than what she bargained for.

Josh’s demons return, and Carrington’s feelings fade, but both aren’t ready to give up hope. They give their love one last shot to survive, but hope, may not be enough.

?LENA'S RANDOM REVIEWS? ?Paranormaly Yours Book Club R&R? Hope for Her by Sydney Aaliyah Michelle A little about the story: Carrington Butler is 18 years old & experiencing college for the first time. She is ready for the whole college experience, dating, partying & having fun. Until she catches the eye of Joshua Griffin IV. He is determined to make her his. Though she is attracted to both Joshua & his best friend (not aware at first they even knew each other) Jackson, it's Josh who pursues & wins her over. Lena's opinion: This story was like any other boy likes girl, boy pursues girl, boy gets girl, in the beginning but something made it a bit different from the start. Josh's intense need to be with Carrington. Their fast and intense love had me reading to see what was going to happen next. Not to leave out Jackson. Though this could be a love triangle, it is one I wasn't opposed to. Though Jackson had feelings for Carrington, he respected his best friend more. This made me love him & hoped she would some how end up with him. What happened towards the end , I wasn't expecting. As I read , I was feeling all kinds of emotions & the end left me ready to read the second book. I liked this story Very much & I recommend you give it a shot. I give this book 5 Stars ????? Very interesting book. B.Much better than I thought it would be. I really liked Jackson's character nice guys finish last and all that. Poor Josh his family was so screwed up he had no chance, I did root for him to find his happily ever after but it wasn't in the cards for him. And Carrington she was a lot stronger than I gave her credit for. I will definitely read the next book in this series.

First, this author needs to find herself a better editor. I read all 3 books in the series and all of them have major editing issues. There is an interesting twist to a HEA here, but books 2 and 3 drone on and on. I never really liked the heroine- her personality is bland. There are moments I wanted to like the story line but even the surprises were boring.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review with my book club Paranormally Yours. I couldn't finish it. I don't know if NA is just not my genre or what, but I wasn't connecting with the characters at all. I felt too old. There's a point when we are all young and everything in life is extra vibrant and dramatic. As you age, you look back and enjoy the passion you had, but shake your head at the games. This book was relationship games and I just don't have the patience for that anymore. It looked to me like it had potential but I don't think I was the right audience for it.

This book leads you by the hand through hope, love and heartache.  It is not a light, happy romance it is real and true and the ending is not whats expected.

Review from Angela I was given a copy of Hope for Her for an honest review. This book is one of the ones that it's not easy to review. Let me start by saying that there is some rather graphic, violent scenes in the book, not for the faint at heart reader. This book is not your average, happy go lucky romance. Josh is a character that is fighting some tough demons & you can see & feel the battle all the way thru. Carrington is a strong heroine who rolls with the punches and even swings back from time to time. This was a great read for readers who enjoy real, honest, this is life not a fairy tale romance kind of read.
