I own this book, and it is very helpful. Though I do not own my own horses (yet) I still use the information when I'm riding or grooming, etc.

This book covers just a bout everything you need to know about horses. From getting your first horse to cleaning out stalls and tacking up. Shortly after I purchased the book, an incident with my horse happened. I looked at the book in the vet section and easily found what to do with my horse's lameness. Wonderful and HIGHLY recommended!!! A must for horse lovers, owners, trainers, breeders, and more.

I was given the book as a gift and have found it invaluable in helping teach basics to 4-H youth students. It is extremely useful in learning all those important aspects about horse physiology and characteristics that I never picked up when I was a youth. It is very fulfilling to see the young kids learn so much from a broad based piece of research in 'one' book that answers most if not all questions on the horse and the horses' role throughout history in service to mankind.

I bought this book recently and let me tell you what I think. When I first read it I loved it!! It has hundreds of beautiful color photos of the horses! I learned a lot about basic horse care and needs. It has information on horsie sickness and deseases and how to treat a horse with this problem. It has the life cycle of a young foal with color photos of him at different ages. It tell a bout certain equestrian sports like show jumping, dressage, cross country, western roping, western pleasure, barrel racing (my favorite), and other rodeo sports. It twlls about the points of the horse, fur colors and patterns and facial markings. It has about over 100 breeds and a breif discription of each kind! When they say 'The Complete Guide' they mean it!!
