You wont regret reading this one. I'll keep this short and sweet. I enjoyed all stories in this anthology. I have not been able to say that before. Feehan does a great job with her Carpathians as always, but the ending was a little too abrupt. Being from Louisiana myself, I loved Shayne's rendition of "loup-garou" mixed with voodoo. Holly was not to be outdone by two very experienced writers. Her vampire, she calls an upyr was very hot and sexy. The hardest story to swallow was by Angela Knight. It is hard to wrap one's mind around the ideas that King Arthur is a vampire as well as the rest of his Knights. The idea of Morganna being a witch wasn't hard, but that she used her powers for the good of mankind was a bit much to swallow if you know the other tales of King Arthur. However, this was definitely a hot blooded, sexy as hell story. VAMPIRES, LYCANS, AND KING ARTHUR, OH MY!!! Great Book!!

¿Dark Hunger¿ by Christine Feehan. Juliette rescues wild animals from a complex when she discovers a caged human. She rescues Riordan from captivity only to learn he is a Carpathian. He realizes that she is his lifemate, but they first must survive a blood eating malevolent monster. Though Riordan is from the Carpathian hunk factory, Juliette provides the freshness of WILD RAIN with her jaguar shapeshifting skills..................................... ¿Awaiting Moonrise¿ by Maggie Shayne. In the Bayou, zoologist Jenny searches for an undiscovered species expecting to learn the reason that many locals believe in werewolves. When an animal scratches her, Jenny visits Dr. LeRoque for treatment. They immediately fondle one another. However, he has a secret that if she learns her or her colleagues will certainly reveal and destroy his people. The lycanthropy is exciting and seems genuine, but the couple¿s sexual activity seems unreal.............................. THE NIGHT OWL by Emma Holly. In Vermont pastry chef Mariann likes her rustic life though she is concerned about the new owners of the Night Owl Bed and Breakfast that includes her bakery. New B&B owner French vampire Bastien realizes that Mariann is his lifemate, but fears rejection. This is a terrific vampire romance because of the uniqueness of the hero............................. ¿SEDUCTION'S GIFT¿ by Angela Knight. South Carolina Police Officer Grace Morgan refuses to become a Maja though she has the innate genetic make up to do so. The Majae feel she would make an excellent addition to their ¿knights of the round table¿ guardians of humanity. They send hunk Lancelot to convert her by inducing sexual orgasms. Vampires, erotica and Camelot, oh my!............................ These four paranormal erotic novellas live up to the title.............................. Harriet Klausner

Man was this part of the Dark Series hot! This is the first book in which the De La Cruz brothers will come into the picture. Being sent away from their homeland so long ago by Prince Vlad, the De La Cruz brothers lived in South America for decades, living alone and seperate from their people. The book starts off with action as Juliette, a jaguar female, is working with her sister to break into a laboratory and save the animals within. But when Juliette enters, she finds that a man has been kept tortured and she works to save him and set him free. Riordan De La Cruz is in a survival mode as he witnesses his lifemate coming to his rescue. He feeds on her savagely, needing the life she provides, and then they leave the enemy's holding. Riordan is ruthless in his attempt to keep Juliette with him and to make her love him, trust him. I love this book. It is the first of these ruthless, law-onto-themselves De La Cruz brothers and Christine shows us how much more Carpathians there are out there in the world. This South America setting will get some steamy scenes from a jaguar female and a Carpathian male.

Juliette is one of the few females remaining to a dying people - the jaguar race who can shift shape between human and the great cat. She lives in the jungle with her sister and cousin, trying to protect the females of their race who are being brutally abducted by a group of rogue jaguar males. While breaking into a secret laboratory to release the research animals, she finds a man, chained and bleeding on a concrete floor. The man is Riordan, one of five Carpathian brothers sent our by Prince Mikhail's father centuries ago to protect the South American continent from the scourge of vampires. As soon as he sees her, Riordan knows he was found his lifemate. Juliette has to come to terms with what this means, heal Riordan's terrible wounds and rescue her sister, all packed into one 100 page short story. When I started this, I expected to be disappointed. In fact, my thoughts were along the lines of "Oh no, not another big cat shapeshifter". I was not pulled into the two "Leopard" books at all, and didn't think jaguars needed to be added to the mix. However, I have to admit that Feehan won me over. The story had more depth to it than I expected and I enjoyed it. My main complaint would be that I thought Jasmine's (Juliette's sister) fate was unnecessarily harsh. However, I kind of suspect she may turn out to be someone else's lifemate and what happened to her in this story will figure in that one. This is not a hugely memorable tale (or it may just be that short stories aren't really a medium that works for me), but it was a nice addition to the Carpathian mythos.

Hot Blooded is an Anothology of 4 steamy paranormal romance stories. First one is Dark Hunger. Dark Hunger is set in the Amazon. Juliette rescues Riodan only to find out he's a Carpathina. He is surprised to find she is from the Jaguar Race. Surprise to both, they are compatible in more ways than one.I love Riordan. He's not too overbearing and arrogant like his brothers Must be of being youngest. I do hope Zacharias and Nicholas gets someone for themselves like Jasmine and Solange.Poor Juliette. She is torn between her lifemate and family. The Next ones didn't excite me as Dark Hunger. Though the Warewolf story was interesting.

**** "Dark Hunger" by Christine Feehan. Carpathians meet Jaguars. I'd have liked to see more info about how/why the two races can/can't mesh, but I realize there wasn't space in a novella. Both the h/h have siblings who'll probably get more stories.**** "Awaiting Moonrise" by Maggie Shayne. Werewolf, voodoo, a cryptozoologist. I kept thinking this was by Rebecca York--it felt very much like her Moon stories. Nice story, but one that would have been better if it had been longer--I didn't really buy that the h/h fell in love so fast.**** "The Night Owl" by Emma Holly. Again, just too short. I'd been looking forward to Bastien's story, and I wanted to see more of it. Still, nice portrayal of a natural ruler who's wary of taking power.****½ "Seduction's Gift" by Angela Knight. Lancelot! Woo-hoo. Heroine's a cop, knows all about the magi and majae (sp?--I always get them confused--would have been nicer if AK had given them more distinctive designations from the beginning, but...), and in fact already knows Lancelot & that sex with him will bring her into her powers, so it makes the story fit better into the novella length.
