Thanks for a great story

Firefighter Gavin Boudreau and EMT Cait Tasker often find themselves on scene together and the encounters are a bit prickly. He has no idea what he did to get on her wrong side and his buddies at the station give him no end of grief. When they finally resolve that issue, what’s left is the potential of a promising relationship. This was an easy story where we see two people tentatively beginning a relationship, careful with each other as they get to know one another. The main conflict is Cait’s family whose need caused her to return home to help her recently widowed mother cope with her grief while dealing with a teenaged half brother. I enjoyed how the two of them took the time to forge a meaningful relationship and how the conflicts weren’t overblown. There’s not a lot of drama (thankfully), just two mature people coping with life’s challenges. I also liked seeing the realities of their work life, the lows and the highs and their emotional impacts. I’m still enjoying this series and particularly this story. The focus on family, work lives of firefighters and emergency response teams and the people supporting them is what interests me most. It’s what I was looking for in choosing the series and it continues to deliver. It’s a good story with characters I not only liked but admired. The narrator also was ideal for the story and I really liked her decisions about how to define the characters. Highly recommend the audio format. 4 Stars Hot Response is the fourth title int he Boston Fire series, but was my first time reading Shannon Stacey's work and I wasn't dissapointed. I quite enjoyed Cait and Gavin's story. Cait, is a loyal, compassioante and a care giver by nature. She works in a profession where she is often surrounded by males, and is not afraid to stand up for herself, and give as good as she gets. She has a very hectic, busy life and struggles with letting others in and giving up control. Gavin is not afraid to admit he likes women, he's charasmatic, fun and cheeky. But there's more to this sexy firefighter than a womaniser, he's thoughtful, loving, considerate and will do anything for those he cares for most. If you like a sweet, emotional contemporary romance with endearing, and relateable characters then Hot Response may just be the title for you. I look forward to reading more of Shannon's work in the future.

Hot Response is the 4th book in Shannon Stacey's Boston Fire series. I had read the first two books in this series awhile back. I went back and read their book descriptions to refresh my memory. Although, you don't need to have read the previous books to enjoy this one. Cait and Gavin meet while they are both on the job. Cait is an EMT and Gavin is a firefighter. Things start a little rough for them but they get things cleared up pretty quickly. I liked that they didn't dance around each other for half the book and deny their feelings. I also like that Cait was able to be a strong, smart, stable, and independent person without being TSTL sometimes. I also liked that she was the one to make the first move. Cait had to move back in with her mother and brother after the death of her step-father. They seem to need her an awfully lot and Gavin thinks Cait is only enabling them. You'll just have to read to see how things work out! While there isn't a ton of actual firefighting and EMT scenes, there are enough to keep you entertained. I really enjoyed this book. There was romance, some suspense, and even some humor! My only negative comment would be that the ending was quick. Yes there was an epilogue but I would have liked more. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

3.5stars Another story from Boston firefighter, this one is about Gavin and Cait. A story with a lot of family drama, tenderness and slowly falling in love. Bot Gavin and Cait are great characters. I really liked Gavin he had a good personality is a really caring person, I liked his way of thinking and the way he acted toward Cait, how he treated her. Cait was also carrying person maybe too much, that she forgot to care for herself, and that was in the end problem and almost the end between them. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly.

Prepare to feel the burn. Stacey ignites the pages with a HOT firefighter and a fiery EMT. Lust runs rampart with this scorching duo. However, there's more to the attraction than hormone overload. There's heartbreaking tragedy, dangerous scenarios and a chance at emotional maturity. The sizzle is abundantly obvious, but the emotions run deep.

This was a good story that grabbed my heart, but it was also light and fun. There was good humor in this one. One of my favorite parts of the book. You get the sense of the close knit/family atmosphere that the fire stations have. I really enjoyed reading Cait and Gavin's journey. They were perfect for one another though they don't see it at the time. Watching Cait and her family finding their new normal broke my heart, but it's also beautiful to see them find their inner strength. The epilogue was definitely the icing on the cake for this book.

Hot Response by Shannon Stacey is a fantastic contemporary romance. Ms. Stacey has provided us with a well-written book and filled it with outstanding, lovable characters. Cait is EMS and Gavin is a firefighter. Gavin is interested in Cait but she has family issues and doesn't have time for romance. Their story is loaded with drama, action, humor and sizzle. I totally enjoyed reading Hot Response and look forward to reading more from Shannon Stacey in the future. Hot Response is book 4 of the Boston Fire Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love this series! Can’t get enough of these sexy Boston Firefighters! Gavin is just……well he’s amazing! It took me 2.5 seconds to fall in love with him! And I really like Cait for him, they are perfect for each other. Maybe it’s because she’s an EMT so she understands why he does what he does and no apologies for long shifts or dangerous work are necessary. They can just be themselves with each other and their chemistry is through the roof. Their ease with each other and hers with the other crazy guys in the house is awesome. I admire how Gavin steps in to help out with Cait’s younger brother and how he tries to help her with family stuff as well. Unfortunately that does cause some ill-ease between them for a bit. Thankfully they work everything out for a sweet HEA. Can’t wait for more!!!!!

I always enjoy Shannon Stacey's books and Hot Response was no exception. The Boston Fire series is probably my favorite series by Stacey and I was so excited when more books were announced. Hot Response started out great with Cait reluctantly attracted to Gavin and Gavin, a charmer, confused over Cait's obvious dislike of him. After a picture of Gavin checking out Cait's butt ends up on Instagram (hilarious moment by the way), Cait realizes the attraction is mutual and things quickly move toward a relationship. I loved watching the usually confident and charming Gavin get all flustered around Cait. He gets thrown completely off his game when it comes to her and it was actually adorable; mostly because Gavin is such a good sport about it. Gavin really was an excellent hero and pretty much perfect. He's cocky in all the right ways but still incredibly romantic and his respect for Cait's professional skills is obvious. Gavin really has that boyish charm and gentlemanly respect and I was in love with him almost from the beginning! He recognizes pretty early on that he wants more than casual with Cait but he also senses she'll be a bit skittish about that feared L-word. But Cait jumps in with both feet and I loved the natural intimacy they share. Gavin quickly gets his mojo back while Cait keeps him on his toes. They were truly perfect together. Gavin and Cait aren't the only great things in this book. Family, whether by blood or not, is always a big part of Shannon Stacey's books and the brotherhood in the firehouse is really tight. I enjoyed seeing characters from the previous books as well as new characters that will be in future books. I'm so excited for the next two Boston Fire books!

sexy and sassy HOT RESPONSE is the fourth instalment in Shannon Stacey’s contemporary, adult BOSTON FIRE erotic, romance series focusing on Boston’s first responders. This is fire fighter Gavin Boudreau, and EMT Cait Tasker’s story line. HOT RESPONSE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Gavin and Cait) HOT RESPONSE follows the acrimonious relationship between fire fighter Gavin Boudreau, and EMT Cait Tasker. For some unknown reason Gavin, and his fellow fire fighters at Ladder 37, got the distinct impression that he had done something wrong to EMT Cait Tasker. With her angry demeanour and less than friendly attitude Cait gives off a persona of don’t touch, don’t talk, don’t ever look my way. A chance meeting at the local first responders watering hole meant Gavin had the opportunity to uncover the who and why of Cait’s acerbic attitude. What ensues is the slow building romance between Cait and Gavin, and the potential fall-out as Cait is unable to break free from the family responsibilities she has placed upon herself. Cait Tasker moved back home to help support her grieving mother and embittered teenage brother in the wake of her step-father’s death but Cait’s overwhelming home-life is affecting her attitude towards the man with whom she will fall in love. Gavin Boudreau struggles with Cait’s co-dependency and need to jump every time her family calls but letting her know how he feels will build a wall between our leading couple, a wall that continues to grow until Cait’s mother opens her eyes and sees how the drama has been affecting her children. The relationship between Cait and Gavin is one of immediate attraction but Cait’s reaction and apparent hatred of Gavin Boudreau is questionable and without merit. Gavin is a sweetheart, whose patience with our story line heroine begins to falter with Cait’s inability to cut the chord. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. Most of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting characters including Lydia and Aidan (Heat Exchange #1), Rick Gullotti (Controlled Burn #2), Jamie and Scott (Fully Ignited #3), as well as single father Derek Gilman. Derek’s story line is next in Under Control (August 2018). HOT RESPONSE is a sexy and sassy story line. The premise is entertaining, engaging and encouraging; the romance is tender and provocative; the characters are energetic and real.

Another winner. What do you do when the hot guy you meet at work, and are just about to ask our for coffee, calls you ma'am? Hatred like the fire of a million deadly suns. Cait Tasker is an EMT. She has moved back to Boston to help her mum and step-brother after her step-father's death. She feels like her life has been put on hold while she mothers her mum and her step-brother. She had a thing for Gavin Boudreau until he called her ma'am and made her feel even older than she already does. But since her team frequently work alongside the firefighters of Ladder 37. Gavin on the other hand likes an easy life and 'easy' women,as the youngest firefighter on Ladder 37 he's not about settling down. The feisty EMT that gives him the evil eye is definitely not his type - so why is he dreaming about her? But when Cait steps over a line and has to apologise to Gavin they find that first impressions can be deceiving and maybe enemies can turn into lovers. But Cait is only in Boston temporarily and her family come first. I really enjoyed this, maybe it was the situation in which Cait found herself, caring for her family and putting her life on hold, maybe it was that both Gavin and Cait were lovable characters, people you'd want to drink with in Kincaid's pub, people you'd want to shoot hoops with on a Saturday morning (not that I've ever done such a thing, but I could). This was funny, sweet and charming. Definitely one of Shannon Stacey's best to date. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Gavin and Cait, the main couple, just seemed to fit perfectly together, folks. Well, that is after the embers of anger sparked by a simple misunderstanding are fully extinguished. Once those are fully doused these first responder heroes turn the heat right back up in a completely different way. Yeah, glaring glances eventually switch to hot, searing kisses and eventually some very heated, steamy scenes. All of which unfold at a leisurely pace as they slowly but surely get to know one another. You do get to experience a few rescue scenarios that showcased these highly skilled/trained professionals at work, along with mostly Cait’s family drama when they are off the clock. I especially enjoy this type of element as it portrays the main characters as strong and gives their relationship a cohesive aspect outside the passionate bedroom scenes. Gavin is the epitome of a good guy hero. He’s always willing to help and make time for his siblings and parents, plus his posse of co-worker friends are an extended family, as well . He is the picture of patience as his slowly unfolding, bonding relationship with Cait turns to love. Cait, however, struggles with having a life of her own while juggling helping her mom and teenage step-brother emotionally get back on their feet after a tragic loss. I couldn’t help but feel Gavin got this one right, folks. There is some relationship angst fall-out that I mostly saw coming, but I still enjoyed the inevitable making up afterwards conclusion. Quite a bit of time is spent on these lovebirds taking it day by day and slowly incorporating one another into their daily lives. This was more of a heart-melting than heart stopping romantic read, folks. I’m pleased to announce it appears we have at least two more sequels to look forward to. Book 5, Under Control, will feature a single dad firefighter who falls for a leading lady who lives in a corporate, suit and tie business world. No doubt this firefighter will ultimately end up teaching her the fundamentals of finding true success and happiness. She'll be sure to rescue his heart, as well. Title: Hot Response, Series: Boston Fire (Book 4), Author: Shannon Stacey, Pages: 384, stand-alone but part of a series, EMT heroine, firefighter hero, enemies to lovers, leisurely paced, very steamy scenes, romance safe (no cheating, no OW/OM drama, no love triangle). Shannon Stacey takes us back to the Boston firefighters we love making me so happy I could burst. Things heat up fast as firefighter Gavin Boudreau and EMT Cait Tasker find the spark between them too hot to contain. This is a nice slow build as they try to resist their connection and chemistry but it's just too strong. These two along with all the secondary characters are fantastic! There is humor, witty banter, and fun sexy times. All the things I love in my romances. I highly recommend this one.

Where has this series been all my life? ;) I loved Gavin and Cait's story! There were so many LOL moments (that Snapchat pic! It just won't go away...) mixed in with the tender ones, not to mention the hot-as-heck ones--plus, can I just say, a firefighter and an EMT? Does it get any better than this? Especially when it's a firefighter who'll let the EMT take charge when she's the one with the expertise in a situation, even when they're not technically at work...yeah, that worked for me in all kinds of ways. Let's just say that seeing more of Cait and Gavin won't be the only factor in me anxiously awaiting more from this series, but it will definitely be the cherry on top of an extremely tempting Boston Fire sundae. In the meantime, I do have three earlier series titles to enjoy, so that's something too :) Gavin and Cait's story started out as a bit of an enemies-to-lovers one, though Gavin was at first completely clueless about the reason for her animosity. Though I get why she was initially upset with him (when they met, she was just working up to asking him to go for coffee when he ma'am-ed her and she assumed he thought she was old instead of it being a polite reflex) I appreciated that they didn't drag her resentment out overlong, instead letting them get down to the business of starting a relationship and the real conflict of Cait's family drama. In fact, everything about this book felt real--the progression of their relationship, the responsibility Cait felt for her family, and Cait's mother's struggle with her second major life loss and the barrier it threw in the way of Cait and Gavin's relationship moving to the next level--and it was next to impossible to put this book down until they were able to find their HEA. Plus, I was dying to see where else that Snapchat pic was going to turn up...and I wasn't disappointed when it did! :) Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

A genuinely real and emotional romance story that touched my heart. The characters are not only likable, they are relatable, they are solid, deeply feeling, kind and considerate people I loved hanging around with. The world the author has created is so down-to-earth realistic, that it could be the fire station around the corner from my house. The relationships in the firehouse, the teamwork, the camaraderie, is a warm, caring, competitive (in a positive way) place where people are comfortable and enjoy working in, and that atmosphere of positivity in face of challenges and exultations of life is transferred to the pages of the story. Gavin Boudreau and Cait Tasker have a sizzling, tangible chemistry between them. They balance each other, they match, they bring stability to each of their hearts and thus are perfect for each other, it is like coming home when they are in each other's arms. They have a lot in common with their jobs in the service. The way they love their families and set them above anything else, their generous and kind hearts, their professionalism sets them apart. No, they are not perfect, they are struggling just like any one of us, they have challenges, they have stubborn streak, they have room to learn and grow and develop as people, and I think that is what made it so easy to love them, to care for them, and to admire them, because they truly were so real, true-to-life, honest people with everyday challenges, triumphs, and joys. Shannon Stacey is one of my favorite authors, I have devoured every book of hers that I have gotten into my hands, and loved them. She writes from her heart and it shows. The characters feel like dear friends and the world they live in like my old neighborhood. I savored every word of the story, wanting to linger in that creation the author had drawn with her words. The tough choices and sacrifices Cait has made for her family touched my heart, the struggles Gavin and Cait have with building their relationship were heartfelt and true. The danger the first responders face, the fear of possible peril the firefighters might experience was palpable, even brought me to tears at times. But mostly Hot Response made me smile, laugh, sigh, and fan my face while blushing cause the kitchen is not for just dancing anymore... An absolutely fantastic story, and series, that I can highly recommend ~ Five Spoons!

4 “I’m glad I’m in your pond.” Stars It’s been a while since our last visit with the firefighters of Ladder 37, and having enjoyed the previous three books hugely, I dived straight in being quickly reminded just why I love the Boston Fire series. “I don’t know what it is about you that rubs me the wrong way.” EMT, Cait has bit of a dim opinion the youngest of the firefighters, Gavin Boudreau whose life loves are his job and the ladies. Going on that, you may expect a bit of a player, however what we have is a cheeky, funny, sexy, thoughtful guy who loves hard, and I loved him for that reason. “I came here to see how many beers it takes to get you to go in the store room with me and show me what you’re wearing under that shirt.” He and Cait were fabulous together and we see the man Gavin truly is when we find out what she is dealing with personally, showing her she doesn’t have to deal with everything alone. Hot Response brought everything I’ve come to hope for from this author and the couples she plays matchmaker to. Romance is blended with just the right amount of emotion, drama and action, I loved catching up with the rest of the crew and I’m looking forward to more when we’re treated to Derek’s story later this year.

4 1/2 STARS! Boudreau is heating up the house! With the latest in her steamy Boston Fire series, Shannon Stacey knocks it out of the park! The connection between Cait and Gavin is H-O-T, and the fact that they’re both down-to-earth good people make it really easy to admire and root for them. Their road to forever hits some speed bumps along the way, but it’s quite the thing to see them get there! Really enjoyed it! Cait Tasker has her plate full working long hours as an EMT and then picking up the pieces of her family after a tragedy strikes. The last thing she needs is an arrogant firefighter constantly pushing her buttons. Boston firefighter Gavin Boudreau might be the youngest in the firehouse, but he’s a hard worker and is well respected. He’s proud of the job he does and confident of his place. He can’t figure out why Cait has disliked him from day one, but despite her constant snark, he can’t help but be attracted to her! He’s got plenty of time to play the field before he even considers settling down, but it might be nice to have the same woman in his bed more than once now that he’s found one that intrigues him so!
