Overview

Hotel Ladd by Dianne Venetta

After years of battling the Ladd family, Annie Owens has finally procured her daughter’s legacy, title to Ladd Springs, a mecca of streams and springs in the eastern Tennessee mountains—only she can’t afford to keep it.

Cal Foster’s father owns the biggest bank in town and has devised a way to help Annie retain the property, but when hotel developer Jillian Devane offers to buy the land outright, Annie is torn. She’s tempted by the huge sum of money—money that will secure her daughter Casey’s future, something Cal cannot guarantee.

According to Annie’s sister, Lacy Ward, an insider with the Ladd family, Jillian’s proposal is tainted by revenge—the depth of which Annie has no idea. She only knows the woman is out to compete with the upcoming Ladd hotel making any deal with Jillian Devane tantamount to betrayal.

When Cal is offered a position with Hotel Ladd, Annie is backed against a wall. Selling to Jillian will end any hope for a future together with Cal, a man she has come to love. But it isn’t until Casey’s romance with Troy Parker blows apart that Annie’s decision is made.

Will “selling out” exile Annie from the Ladd family, including any chance for happiness with Cal Foster? Or can she find a way to make amends, ending a long-standing feud once and for all? Find out in this episode of Ladd Springs...

About the Author

Dianne Venetta lives in Central Florida with her husband and two children--and her part-time Yellow Lab (Cody!). An avid gardener, she spends her spare time growing organic vegetables. Surprised by the amazing discoveries she finds there every day, she wondered, "Who knew there were so many similarities between men and plants?"

In addition to writing women's fiction and romance, she pens the blog for BloominThyme.com. What began as a brief hiatus from writing has blossomed into a garden blog, children's fiction series and more volunteer hours at school than she imagined!

At the end of the day, if she can inspire someone to stop and smell the roses (or rosemary!), kiss their child and spouse good-night, be kind to a neighbor and Mother Earth, then she's done all right.

This book is the third book in the Ladd Springs series. I am seriously hooked on the series and can’t wait for the next book. I have been drawn into the lives of all of the characters and I want to know what happens to them. I strongly recommend the series is you love romance with a bit of mystery thrown in. Hotel Ladd focuses on Annie Owens. It begins about six months after Ladd Fortune ends. During the time between books, Annie has finally proven that her daughter Casey is Jeremiah Ladd’s daughter. As a result, Delaney has signed over half of Ladd Springs to Casey with the stipulation that Annie manages it until Casey is thirty. Delaney’s boyfriend, hotel developer Nick Harris, has bought a 99-year lease to Felicity’s (Delaney’s daughter) share of Ladd Springs and is building a deluxe resort complex. Annie, on the other hand, is struggling to pay the taxes on Casey’s share of the land. She is also having a difficult time with Casey who has fallen in love with a local boy who may be headed for trouble. Annie faces a tough decision; sell some of the trees as lumber or sell the land and use the money to start a new life for herself and Casey somewhere away from Ladd Springs. Disclosure: I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway on the premise that I would review it.

Annie not only has a job as a nail tech, she's a mom, and now she's the trustee if her daughter's inheritance, a beautiful plot of land in the Appallacians of Tennesee in Ladd Springs, where they live. But can they afford to keep it? The taxes alone could bankrupt them. Would it be in Casey's best interest to lease for logging, or sell outright? And Casey, fragile from a health crisis over finding out about her father, is floundering with her boyfriend Troy. Annie is worried about her own happiness. Her relationship with Cal is deepening. Will the decisions she makes ruin that? Book 3 in the Ladd Springs series is an interesting look into the reality of life on both sides of the "tracks". Not the best book I've ever read, but a great diverson on a cold aftwrnoon

Runs to the pool and jumps in then comes up and yells. Cold! Cold! Cold! Climbs out and sits in the hot tub.
