No one can know about our love—and hiding only makes it hotter.
Dallas Sykes has a reputation. He is known for his parties, his money, and the countless women on his arm. Yet the Dallas I know is a different man—darker, smarter, and unbearably sexy. Just one look from him can leave me breathless; the anticipation of his touch can make me lose control.
Inextricably bound by our past, we keep each other’s secrets. And while there are people who have the power to hurt us, it’s the truth that threatens us most of all.
Dallas can be mine only behind closed doors, our passion as searing as it is forbidden. Yet nothing in this world has ever felt so desperately, deliciously right.

Pretty Little Liars
The universe is completely unfair.
For four long, luxurious days this Southampton mansion had been my personal paradise. Here, my body had been adored. My skin stroked. My blood had burned with a passion that had been building over seventeen long years. I’d been touched and kissed and worshipped by the man I’ve loved my entire life, and I’d relished the freedom to explore every inch of him in return. My lips on his strong jaw, his tight abs. My tongue tasting the sweetness of his skin and the saltiness of his cock.
We made love tenderly, then violently, then tenderly once more. We curled together in each other’s arms. We watched late night television with our legs twined, until the sensation of skin against skin overwhelmed us and we muted the drone of talk show hosts, and explored each other again in the flickering light of the television.
We swam naked in the pool during the day, then walked along the beach in the moonlight.
Those days had been a gift. A reward.
A decadent, sensual heaven.
But all that changed this morning, and now this mansion that I love has transformed into hell. A luxurious hell with cool ocean breezes, a wet bar, liveried waiters offering sushi and canapés, and the man I love fondling the ass of a pert blonde with tits that are going to pop right out of that barely there dress if she so much as sneezes.
And I’m not the only one mentally plotting Blondie Bitch’s demise. On the contrary, I’m certain that every female in the vicinity would take her down in a heartbeat in order to take the twit’s place at his side. Dallas Sykes. The infamous billionaire bad boy. The man known publicly as one of the two heirs to the Sykes family fortune, and who women all over the country reverently refer to as the King of Fuck.
The man I love.
The man I can have in private, but never in public.
The man who is my brother.
The bitch leans closer to him, and as her teeth tug at his earlobe, I turn away—there’s only so much torment I can take—and make a beeline for the bar.
“Woodford Reserve,” I say to the bartender. “Two ice cubes.” I recall the way his hand cupped her rear. “Actually, let’s make that a double.”
“Sure thing, miss.”
Beside me, a runway-thin model-type with at least four inches on me takes a sip of red wine. “The hard stuff, huh? Guess you’re singing the same song I am.”
I glance at her, confused. “I’m sorry?”
Her mouth curves up in a way that makes her cheekbones even more prominent. She looks like a fairy with her pale skin and short dark hair. A devious fairy, I amend, seeing the glint in her pale blue eyes. “The Ode to Dallas,” she clarifies. “The siren’s song to make him ditch the bimbo and come straight to you. Or, in my case, me.”
“Oh. Oh, no.” My cheeks burn, and right then I’d totally welcome a natural disaster. A sinkhole, perhaps. Or a tsunami blowing in off Shinnecock Bay. “Me? With Dallas? That’s not even—”
I clamp my mouth shut before I get in a serious the lady doth protest too much situation. How the hell could I have been so obvious? Could she really see the lust in my eyes? Surely not? Surely I was more careful. Because I have to be careful. I’ve been careful my whole damn life.
Yes, but before you two weren’t together. Now you are. At least when you’re alone. But not here. Not in the world. Not where it matters.
Her smile is knowing. “Oh, come on. Don’t tell me that you don’t—wait.” She tilts her head, studying me, and as I watch, her eyes go wide, and she presses four long fingers over her blood-red lips. “Oh, shit. I’m sorry. I didn’t—”
“Didn’t recognize you. You’re Jane, right? You’re his sister. God, that was totally lame of me.” She drags her perfectly manicured fingers through her pixie-style hair. “I just saw you looking at him, and I assumed that you—anyway, never mind.” She draws a deep breath and extends her hand. “I’m Fiona. Did I mention I’m an idiot?”
I can’t help but laugh. “Honest mistake. Really. I was looking at him. But that was irritation you were seeing. Not lust.” That, at least, is half true, and I allow myself one deep breath in relief. Crisis averted. Bullet dodged.
But I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that some tiny, screwed up part of me wishes that she’d called my bluff. That she’d felt the heat that burns in my veins for him—and that she’d figured it out.
Because as much as I love Dallas, I hate that we have to hide. And some rebellious, hidden, bold, stupid part of me wishes that we could be open and out there and real.
We can’t, though. I know we can’t. The law and our parents and the threat of public humiliation keep us trapped firmly in the shadows. And, honestly, I’ve never been too fond of the spotlight, so the idea of having tabloid attention focused on me because I’m sleeping with my brother really doesn’t sit well.
But it’s not just family and privacy and social mores that are keeping us apart. There’s Deliverance, too. Because as long as Dallas is Top Secret Vigilante Guy, everything in his life is going to remain hidden, including the man he truly is. A man so very different from the one he shows the public. A man that even I don’t fully know or understand, because we haven’t yet talked about how Deliverance operates or about its core mission to track—and presumably kill—the miserable excuses for human beings who kidnapped us both seventeen years ago. We need to, of course, but neither of us wanted that conversation to intrude on our four days of bliss. We only wanted each other.
“Hey,” Fiona says, her forehead creasing as she peers at me. “You okay?”
“Fine.” I force a smile, even though I feel like crying. Because for the first time it’s fully hit me. He’s mine. Dallas Sykes is absolutely, one hundred percent, totally mine.
And yet I can never truly have him.
Not in the way that counts. Not in the way that matters.
We’re living a lie that is shiny and perfect and wonderful in the shadows, but that shrivels and dies in the harsh light of day.
I love him. I do.
And even though we promised each other that we would make this work, I can’t help but fear that’s a promise we never should have made. Because it’s a promise that is impossible to keep.
An hour later I’m finally alone and on my third bourbon. Fiona has overcompensated for her faux pas by prattling on about nothing and everything, which was good in that her constant attention kept my eyes from drifting to Dallas.
And bad, in that her constant attention kept my eyes from drifting to Dallas.
Even knowing I shouldn’t, all I want to do is watch him. And imagine him touching me. And seethe about the fact that he is spending the party touching everyone but me.
Apparently, he’s even touched Fiona.
“We went out a couple of times,” she told me, eyes sparkling. “Everyone knows he hardly ever sees the same woman twice, but, well, he saw me three times.” Her lips curved wickedly. “He saw all of me.”
My stomach twisted as I smiled politely and said something about my brother’s reputation and how I really needed to go take care of something with the staff. I escaped inside, hid out for half an hour, and when I returned, I didn’t see her at all.
Dallas, however, caught my attention right away.
Now, I’m leaning against the corner post of one of the pool cabanas trying not to watch him. Or, at least, trying not to be obvious about the fact that I’m watching him.
He’s moved on from the blonde. Now he stands next to a brunette with streaks of neon blue. Her long hair falls in loose curls over her back, bare in the designer halter she wears. She sports a tattoo on her shoulder—not a feminine one, but a skull against a blood-red background.
She wears a black leather miniskirt and five-inch heels, and I have no doubt that this is a woman who takes what she wants. I can tell simply from looking at her. I can also tell from the way she keeps leaning toward Dallas and running her tongue over the edge of his ear.
I’ve never met the woman, but I’m going out on a limb and saying that I don’t like her. Not at all. Not even one little bit.
I realize I’m staring again, and so I pull out my phone and make an effort to go through my emails. The attempt is futile—I see words, but they make no sense to me at the moment.
At least not until a text message flashes across my screen.
It’s from Dallas, of course, and my body tightens merely from seeing his name. I react on instinct—my head lifting, my eyes going straight to where he stands with Skull Girl. He’s not looking in my direction, but I know that he is aware of me. He always is. Just as I’m always aware of him.
I stand, my feet like weights holding me in place as I watch the scene unfolding in front of me. Dallas and the woman standing near the pool, chatting casually with a few of the guests. Dallas’s hand, brushing lightly against her bare back. His fingers trailing down her spine, then over the halter’s tie at her waist.
I expect his hand to stroke the soft leather and cup her ass, but that isn’t what happens. Instead, his nimble fingers unfasten the button of her waistband, loosening it just enough so that he can slip his hand inside her skirt and slide it down over her ass. For just a fraction of an instant, he looks up, his eyes finding mine. Heat pours through me, turning me liquid, making me wet.
I know what he is doing—we’ve done this before. Him touching another woman. Me watching. And both of us pretending that he is touching me.
The first time, it was hotter than sin. I’d been alone in a bathroom, watching the scenario play out on video. We weren’t together yet—in fact we were doing everything to stay apart—and that moment had been a turning point for both of us. A bold—albeit completely fucked up—statement of just how badly we wanted each other. Of what we were willing to do.

Really enjoyed it and can't wait for the last installment!
I give 4 because this could've just been one book. I need to read the rest.
When J. Kenner writes erotic romance, I want to read. Hottest Mess, the second book of the SIN series, finds Dallas Sykes and his adopted sister Jane, at a crossroads in their relationship. After covering their tracks and disguising their feelings for so many years, the past begins to unravel and secrets come out of hiding. Kenner not only writes with eroticism, but can spin a tale of international intrigue and deception. Combining the two in this series, makes for a winner of a story.
This is the second book in the SIN series & it continues the Dallas & Jane story. I like this book but at times Jane just wears me down- she seems so negative & whiny. That being said its not enough to keep me from reading this suspenseful book & I love all the twists & turns J. Kenner takes her readers on. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Fantastic page turning plot with breathtakingly hot sexual scenes. This is the second part of this series and J. Kenner continues this story that is graphic and intense yet heartfelt and all consuming. Every scene, every word uttered every piece of the puzzle that I wanted to get answers to played with my emotion. I truly felt the connection that Dallas and Jane shared. But will their connection survive? Can't wait for the third part of this story. Highly recommended! Loved it.
I read and fell love with book one of this tril and book 2 doesn't disappoint. I think this book has more secrets and suspense then the first one and it lets us know what happened 17 years ago when the kids got kidnapped. I cant wait to read the next book.
OMG! What a Cliffhanger! Hottest Mess is the second book in the S.I.N. trilogy and the continuing story of billionaire playboy Dallas Sykes and Jane Martin. It picks up right after the first one ends, and it is so worth the wait. Bound by adoption at a young age, Dallas and Jane are siblings, though they don’t share the same blood. They’ve always been close and each other’s best friends, but they can’t give into undeniable passion because it’s forbidden and taboo. I ached for both Dallas and Jane as they are still reeling from the effects of the kidnapping they endured seventeen years ago. It’s a complicated layer for which these two beautiful characters yearn and strive in creating some kind of normalcy as a couple. The plot continues as Deliverance, a top secret vigilante group, Dallas’s brainchild gathers intel on possible suspects responsible in his and Jane’s kidnapping. They are still looking for the Jailer and the Woman, two prominent figures behind the scheme. Meanwhile, Dallas and Jane decide no secrets between them, and as they spend time together there is lots of painful revelation. It’s mind bending! I can only say there’s a myriad of emotions, anguish, and pushing through painful memories. As they work through tough boundaries, we see lots of sexual healing, and I mean a lot. The sizzling heat just pours off the pages. I ached for Dallas. Though he is the embodiment of male perfection, he goes through a “crippling hell each time he has sex, ripping away any possibility that he’d have a normal sex life or a normal relationship.” Ms. Kenner writes sex scenes like nobody’s business, so make sure to grab a pitcher of water to cool off. I love Ms Kenner’s style of writing and she certainly knows her craft in weaving a compelling story that is deeply emotional, sexy, passionate, with a bit of angst and suspense. Having said that, there were three times when a “secret” was revealed by Dallas, and though Jane says she’ll stay strong enough to face the public with their relationship, she freaks out and runs away. I was not expecting that twist at the end, and what a doozy of a cliffhanger! I am so on edge, anxious to find out the final sequence to their story. I’m loving this series! To get the full impact I recommend you start with the first book, Dirtiest Secret. This is a must read. Copy provided by Random House Publishing at NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Holy Hell! What a ride!! Dallas and Jane's story continues with them - still needing to get to the bottom of the exposure of Deliverance - protect the strong bond they are trying to form - keeping everyone else in the dark. And when they come together while everyone is in the dark? SCORCHING HOT. So why the four stars? Okay first off, if you are reading this review, please understand I committed the cardinal sin of readership - I did NOT read book 1. I know...I know. I've read every other Stark book how could I miss Dirtiest Secret? Got me. However, the author does a superb job and weaving the storyline from book 1 into book 2 that I never felt lost. Right from page one I was engaged with both primary characters and couldn't put the book down. I need to know what happened when they were teenagers and who did this...like soon. Again with 4 stars? First off, I'm not a prude. I enjoy erotica. But, I really, really, really wanted more of the story that I was wrapped up in and less of the sexy times. Yep, that will get me kicked out of the fun club. But it was the suspense story that kept me pulled in and some of the scenes just got in the way. I realize that the characters have some issues to overcome and really the sexy times are important to the story. My take away for you: If you love the Stark books, you are going to LOVE this series. Its J Kenner's writing at her best. However, do yourself a favor, start with book one unlike me. I think maybe there was more story there that I missed out on. Definitely an entertaining and suspenseful read that I will be going on for book 3. 4 out of 5 stars.
Phenomenal. J Kenner's Hottest Mess has blown me away. Dallas and Jane have overcome so much since their kidnapping 17 years ago, but is it enough? Will they ever have peace? Can Dallas's sexual issues be tamed? Will Jane be willing to share her lover? Sexy, raunchy and incredibly dirty...Dallas and Jane are burning up for each other. Will it be enough? Will they be exposed? Can they finally put their past to rest or will old fears come back to haunt them? There are even surprise guest characters that make my heart flutter with happiness. Hottest Mess is the follow-up to Dirtiest Secret and just as sinfully awesome. Yes, there's a beautiful cliffhanger but who cares! This book, the series, is that good!
Hottest Mess is the second book in the S.I.N series, if you haven't read Dirtiest Secret, I suggest you do so before delving into the hotness that is Hottest Mess. Dallas and Jane are finally together, but it's behind closed doors and Dallas needs to continue his playboy appearances to help get to the bottom of the kidnapping that occured 17 years prior. The more Dallas and his group, Deliverance, dig for answers, the more secrets he has to keep from Jane. Dallas struggles with the darkness in him after what was done to him during his captivity, but Jane is more than willing to go there with him. It leads to some of the hottest sex scenes ever, and J Kenner burns up the pages as usual with this couple. “This whole thing is a hot mess, you know. How are we ever going to make this work?” The silence between us is long, but then finally he answers. “I don’t know,” he admits. “But we will. Don’t ever doubt it. Don’t ever doubt us.” As the couple struggle to make their relationship work, an outside force is sending Dallas messages that could be trouble. And since this is a S.I.N novel, some old favorites make an appearance. You'll just have to pick up a copy of this steamy novel and let yourself be taken away by some serious hotness!
Thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Ballatine Bantam via NetGalley for a copy of this book! Jane and Dallas finally admit to loving each other...YAY! That's great news, however, Dallas needs to keep being a playboy!? You'll have to read and find out why that is!! Their story is a complex one that may leave you feeling a little heartbroken. There are so many secrets, can they get through them? I had a hard time getting into this book, but that was probably just me. It was all in all a good book!!
Dallas Sykes reputation proceeds him, he's a playboy through and through and when women aren't vying for their spot on his arm for the night, their singing praises of his masterful skills in the bedroom... well except one woman. The woman he's not suppose to have, not suppose to crave, the woman who has been the first and only to pierce the wall around his heart... his "sister" Jane. They have finally given into their forbidden attraction for one another, but now that they have had a taste of one another it's all they want and crave, but they also have appearances to keep and a secret to hide. Jane can't stand to see woman touching the man she loves, and the idea of him giving himself to them instead of her is excruciating, but at this point there isn't a whole lot she can do about it...she just has to accept it... and try to keep their secret safe! The minute I started this one I was pulled right back into the addictive world of Jane and Dallas, instantly consumed with every facet of their lives, and knew there was no way I was coming up for air until I had devoured every last page!! Everything blended together seamlessly, it was as if I had never left them, their story was packed with a simmering intensity, that spawned many sexy moments that had me blushing...and maybe even a little envious too!! The mystery surrounding their devastating past kept me on the edge of my seat and kept me completely enthralled, they are so close to getting their answers and I can't wait to see what is going to come next!! Highly recommend you give this highly addictive and OH SO SEXY little series a try, it's sure to have you twisted up in knots and on the edge of your seat the whole way through!! : 4.25 stars-- HOTTEST MESS is the second installment in J. Kenner’ contemporary, adult S.I.N. erotic, romance trilogy focusing on adopted siblings Dallas Sykes and Jane Martin. Dallas is the heir to a billion dollar enterprise, and Jane is a child advocate, and author. The S.I.N. series is a spin off from J.Kenner’s STARK series. Dallas Sykes is reintroduced to the reader in the novella DEEPEST KISS (March 2016). HOTTEST MESS should not be read as a stand alone as the premise builds upon the events of book one DIRTIEST SECRET. Told from first person point of view (Jane) and third person perspective (Dallas) HOTTEST MESS continues to focus on the forbidden relationship between Dallas Sykes, and his adopted sister Jane Martin. Seventeen years earlier, Dallas and Jane were victims of a brutal kidnapping that left our couple emotionally and psychologically scarred but none more so than Dallas Sykes. In the hopes of capturing the people responsible, Dallas and his former SEAL buddies are the founding members of a vigilante organization known to use alternative measures to exact revenge, and all information points to someone close. As Dallas and Jane’s relationship builds, there are those who are willing to destroy everything in their path. What ensues is the search for the truth; too many secrets that remain closed and dark; and two broken people whose pasts refuse to let go. HOTTEST MESS is a sexually graphic story line about forbidden love; about the psychological and emotional damage for two people whose lives were destroyed by someone else’s greed; and the need to reveal the truth –consequences be damned. Dallas is a man trapped in the past and unable to let go; Jane is determined to save the man she has loved most of her life but a man who believes he cannot be saved. The love between our couple is tempered by the taboo, but behind closed doors, their secret affair is heartbreaking and passionate. The world building focuses on the darkness that is slowly engulfing our leading hero. The dangerous ramifications of a man determined to destroy those who destroyed his life; and the possibility that the person (s) responsible is someone they both know. Although not a major premise of the story, the BDSM trope is, once again, called to attention when our hero is unable to let go of the past. HOTTEST MESS reveals the heartbreak and pain of betrayal; the need for revenge; and the dark and dangerous secrets revealed and those yet to be revealed. The premise is gripping and consuming; the characters are passionate and intense; the romance is provocative, tragic and ill-fated. HOTTEST MESS ends on a cliffhanger – so - you have been warned.
Dallas and Jane are learning to live with the consequences of their forbidden love and the fall out in this installment of the series. They fight, then love, then fight some more, then make up, rinse and repeat. They have been through so much and really do deserve a break. I am really enjoying this series but the ending of this one left me gasping and cursing and looking up when the next one releases! **Received a copy of this from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
Title: Hottest Mess Author: J. Kenner Genre: Contemporary Romance Format: Ebook Pages: 288 Rating: 5 Heat: 5 Thoughts: OMG that was so good!!! I couldn't put it down. As usual Ms. Kenner somehow throws words together and comes up with a gripping romance that singes the fingers of the reader. This taboo relationship keeps you on the edge of your seat as secrets are buried and revealed. This second installment of the S.I.N. series is even more intense than the first book. Finally throwing caution to the wind Dallas and Jane come together in an explosive, passionate, fragile and secretive embrace. Still having to play siblings in public they try to make it work. Their need for each other becomes all too consuming that culminates into a cliffhanger from hell!! I was so surprised when Jane let the cat out of the bag and with that ending all I can think is.... Is it Adele? And Colin? Wow, totally didn't see that coming. Guess you'll have to read it to understand my questions lol. I can't wait to read the next book and find out!! Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
NOTE: This is not a standalone. You must read Dirtiest Secret first. Holy mother of forbidden romance stories! I love it when the characters are down in the gutter kind of dirty. The story pushes the boundaries on the forbidden, yet it doesn't go so far as to turn you off from the taboo elements. What happens in this book? Let's see.....Dallas gets some of his "mojo" back and some skeletons fall out of the closets. There is also a lot of secrets. Some from Dirtiest Secret are revealed, but the biggest and baddest secrets are yet to be revealed. My mind is working overtime trying to figure them out and I'm dying to see if I'm right, or if Julie Kenner is going to blindside me with something I never saw coming. This story is intriguing, intense and has all my senses on fire.
Wow! Finally we get past most, not all, of the OW drama and get to the meat of the story. Wow! Ok, so what I'm loving about this story is Dallas and Jane were kidnapped when they were 15. 17 years later and Dallas is still trying to find the man known as the jailor and the woman who tortured him. They are so close and in my head I'm pretty sure I have the woman figured out but yeah, I could totally be wrong, but that's what is making this story so exciting! We have great progress in Dallas and Janes relationship and there are a few key players in this story that I feel like we will learn more, so I can definately say this series is not boring. The first book was hard cause of the OTT OW drama but with the progress of their relationship, we finally get to focus on the kidnappings and of course we end book 2 on a huge cliffhanger. I can't wait for book 3! ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Holy intense and hot! So much passion and drama. I loved it. I think I might have held my breath during the first chapter. Everything was so captivating with complex characters that are entangled in a heated and complicated relationship. Riveting, heart stopping, and erotic! I loved every second! Dallas and Jane have a intense relationship, there is a great mix of love, angst, and sexual tension between these two. I I love how their story is playing out. Their faced with so many obstacles and complications but are committed to each other. All these little details are emerging and I pretty much hung on every word. Dallas and Jane have got such a push and pull happening with each other. Seriously erotic. Dark and sexy. I don’t even know what to say here because it’s erotica and it’s intense and beyond scorching. I don't know if I have enough adjectives to explain how awesome everything was. Dallas is so complicated and still has so many secrets. At times I'd get frustrated with him even though I totally understood where he was coming from. I felt for him. So much pain, his head is a mess when it come to sex and there are serious issues he’s dealing with. I really like how it was explored. It was a bit darker and I found it captivating. I loved how strong Jane is becoming. So many issues of jealousy and trust but I could see her growing and it was great. Lots of ups and downs but so worth it. Loved all the drama. Lots of details learned which was awesome. I feel this is very much a solid book two in the trilogy. I had so many questions after Dirtiest Secret and I was right about one and have a theory about another, so excited to find out if I am right. For as many answers as I got, I have even more questions so I can't wait to get my hands on Sweetest Taboo. The ending was awesome. So much emotion is happening and the bam! Cliffhanger! It is a great hook and lead in to the next story. J. Kenner has created a fascinating world with raw and intriguing characters that you want to root for and fix. They're complicated, intense, and passionate. The writing is fantastic, drawing you in, making you feel the angst and emotion. This is a series not to be missed! Complimentary copy received for honest review.
