Twenty-five years later, John is the eunuch’s most valuable ward, a trained assassin and swindler, and William has become a talented forger. On the brink of World War II, China is in chaos. James Thayer is one of my favorite authors and I have read everything he has written. This book did not disappoint me. It was fast moving and I learned a lot about the way China was in the late 1930's. The story of the two brothers and the lives they have lead after being kidnapped off the street when they were young is very interesting. I would recommend this book and have already done so.
