CHAPTER 1

Kennedy

I crane my neck and stare at the grand hotel through the rain-streaked cab window — Hotel Royal — and I'm absolutely certain the dossier I'm holding was meant for one of the other girls and not me.

From the backseat of the taxi, my gaze goes from the majestic London hotel to the contents of the dossier on my lap — a duffle bag containing a very sexy, very expensive black lace panty set, matching lace stockings, a couple of cocktail dresses in my size, and two pairs of heels so high I'm sure I'll end up with a nosebleed. I briefly pinch my eyes shut and shake my head. There must be a mix up, there just has to be. Then again, the dresses are my exact size.

But I would never in a million years buy anything like this for myself. I'm a quiet curator for the Chicago Museum. I prefer comfy underwear and baggy clothes, not an outfit designed for a stripper. Although, that could be the whole point of this, now couldn't it? Get Kennedy to break out of her shell. Force her to have some much needed fun.

Seriously though, when I, along with a group of best friends, agreed to put our names in a hat during our New Year's Eve party two years ago, little did I think I'd receive a dossier with such slutty clothes and an invitation to dance at Carleton House — one of London's most exclusive gentlemen's clubs.

I grab the embossed card with the information emblazed on the front and turn it over to read Friday Night, 9 p.m. Like I'm really going to show up at the club tomorrow night with next to nothing on my body — or show up at all. I have no idea which one of my girlfriends sent me this dossier — which one sponsored this excursion — but they must have pulled a lot of strings to make it happen. Too bad all their hard work was for nothing.

I groan and punch the clothing deeper into the bag then zip it up. Out of sight, out of mind, right? It's not that I'm a prude, but no way, no how am I ever putting that outfit on my body and dancing for a bunch of over-privileged, narcissistic men with entitlement issues.

Yeah, sure, we all agreed to the pact, agreed to draw a name, keep it a secret, then on the person's twenty-fifth birthday send a dossier for an epic adventure — where the words "epic" and "sex" can be interchanged. This package must have been for someone more adventurous than me. Someone who has no problem exposing themselves to a bunch of horny old men.

Nevertheless, the girls certainly don't need to know I never showed up at Carleton House. I can spin a story as well as the next person and can let them believe I had legendary sex that rocked my world. Not that I would know what that is. The only time my bed rocks is when the L-train goes by.

Then, show up at the club. I dare you!

I shut the under-sexed and overly curious side of myself down and pay the cab driver. He grunts in response, and I grab my luggage and step from the car. London in the fall — the city's wettest season. Lucky me. Big fat raindrops fall over me as I hike my duffle bag up higher on my shoulder and pull the handle up on my carry-on suitcase. I'm just glad I packed my own clothes — even though it went against the pact. You bring nothing but what your sponsor gives you. I'd be okay with that if I'd been given something decent to wear and a trip to a London museum, or even a concert, not a gentlemen's club.

I tap my purse, happy I loaded my e-reader with my favorite romance novels, and glance up and down the street. Down the block, on the corner of a brick building, I see the sign for Carleton House, and my heart picks up tempo. The building is old and gorgeous, the history in the structure of more interest to me than the sordid kinds of activities that take place behind those heavy wooden doors.

Turning my back on the bawdy establishment, I step inside the luxurious hotel, and my mouth falls open. The lobby is gorgeous, absolutely breathtaking, and a far cry from my run-down apartment building back home. I check in quickly, my eyes and body tired after traveling all day, and grab a few brochures to leaf through before bed. Might as well take advantage of my free time and take in the sights around London.

The wheels on my old suitcase squeal and draw the attention of everyone around me as I make my way toward the bank of elevators. I lower my head and shadow myself with my long hair. I don't like to be the center of attention, which once again makes me think the dossier was meant for one of the other girls. No way would any of my friends push me past my comfort zone and expect me to shake my ass on some stage — even if I do take pole-dancing classes to build my core strength.

I picture it for a moment, my body swaying, the center of attention in a room full of men more interested in my nakedness than my intellect. Wouldn't that be different? Naughty even? Truthfully, no one here knows me. In London, I can be anyone I want to be, even a dancer in a high-end club. A fine shiver moves through me, and I feel a heavy pulse deep between my legs.

Do it already. Step outside your boring life and have some fun for God's sake!

I blink my eyes to clear the sensuous image, and steal a glance around the lobby as I wait for the elevator — or lift, rather, now that I'm in London. A man plays piano in the corner, and people mill about talking quietly, while others file into the dimly lit bar for a nightcap, or maybe a dirty, sexy, clandestine affair where inhibitions are shed and ropes are used. I gulp. Clandestine affair? Ropes? Honest to God, I read far too many romance novels. One-night stands and hot sex that leads to happily-ever-after does not exist in real life. At least, not for me.

The elevator light pings off, and the doors open. My breath catches in my throat when I come face-to-face — or rather, face-to-chest — with Sean Fraser, the older brother of my best friend, Olivia. The guy I've always had a huge crush on and dreamed about over the years. My heart thunders in my ears as I take him in. He's older now, looking more refined in a dark suit that fits his broad shoulders to perfection. His sun-kissed hair is cut short, his caramel eyes still rich and maple-candy sweet. He smooths a palm over his tie, and I watch, transfixed, wondering what those big hands of his would feel like on my body. Someone shuffles beside me, and my thoughts come crashing back.

What the heck is Sean doing in London? The last I heard he was some stuck-up investment banker in New York. Then again, he probably travels a lot for work. I open my mouth to say something, anything, but he gives me a curt nod, steps around me, and resumes conversation with the man beside him, once again overlooking me. Honest to God, I might as well be a fake plant in the corner for all the attention he gives me.

I stand there shell-shocked for a moment, even though I shouldn't be. Sean never gave me the time of day when we were younger, always bossed me around like he was my big brother and I was his kid sister, a nuisance who got underfoot. Jerk.

Then again, maybe I'm being too harsh on him. I haven't seen him in years, and I'm not the same chubby girl I was in my teens. My hair is blond, not mousey brown. I no longer wear braces, or glasses that hide my blue eyes. And Zumba and pole dancing classes have thinned my once-plump body to a lush size eight.

I step onto the lift and stare at his back in the mirror. His steps suddenly slow, and his body shifts, his head turning my way. But before his gaze can land on mine, the doors bang shut, and I suck in a quick breath to refill my oxygen-starved lungs. Is it possible that he did recognize me?

I spin around and quickly press the open button, curious to see if it was me he was turning to see, but when the doors open, he once again has his back to me.

"Do you mind?" an elderly woman who'd stepped on the lift with me asks as she glares at me. "I would like to go to my room."

"Sorry," I say, and jump off, the doors sliding shut behind me. I'm not sure what I'm doing, but I weave through the crowd and keep my eyes on Sean as he exits the hotel lobby and pops open a black umbrella. I hurry after him, suitcase and all, and push through the revolving door. Rain pours over me, plastering my hair to my head as I search the crowd. When I finally catch a glimpse of his broad shoulders, I follow him down the sidewalk, keeping a reasonable distance.

What the hell are you doing, Kennedy?

I seriously have no idea, but continue to follow him anyway, not that I'll know what to do or say if I catch up. He and his friend stop outside Carleton House, and my feet come to a resounding halt. No. Freaking. Way.

Apparently, not all the members are old men. How interesting.

He pauses outside the door and angles his head as he closes his umbrella. People crowd the sidewalk, and he glances around, sorting through the throng until his gaze meets mine — and holds. My knees wobble. Does he know it's me, annoying Kennedy Lane from his teen years? I mull it over for a second and then decide: no way. Even I wouldn't recognize this new version of myself. He turns, and it breaks the hold he seems to have over me.

Someone bangs into me and sets me back in motion. Still feeling dizzy from the effect of his stare, I turn and hurry to the hotel, my clothes, hair, and luggage completely drenched as I dart to the elevator and shift restlessly until it opens. God, I hate how I suddenly feel out of sorts. I shouldn't let it bother me that he didn't recognize me — that he never wanted me. I just wasn't his type. Growing up, he hung out with giggling, Barbie-doll girls, and I'm so not like them.

Pushing down the unease climbing into my throat, I get off on my floor and hurry to my room. I flash the key card in front of the electronic lock, and when I step inside my suite, I forget how uncomfortable I am in my wet clothes and glance around.

My God, whichever friend sponsored this adventure certainly didn't spare any expense. The room is bigger than my entire apartment. I drop my luggage and toss myself on the bed, but as I stare at the ceiling, my thoughts once again travel to Sean.

Did my sponsor know he'd be here, in the same hotel as me? Maybe my friend knew how much I lusted after him, and thought we could have a secret, weekend affair. I shut my eyes and envision myself in Sean's hotel room, his hard body moving over mine.

A moan crawls out of my throat and my lids flash open. Jesus, stop reading too much into the situation. Running into him was a coincidence, nothing more. My mind is just conjuring up sexy scenarios thanks to all those romance novels I devour. Working diligently to put bossy, stuck-up Sean out of my mind, I unpack, grab a quick shower, pull on my pajamas, and slip between the luxurious sheets.

I reach for my e-reader but can't focus on the damn words, not with the stupid invitation to the club staring at me from the nightstand — a club Sean obviously frequents. I roll and pick up the embossed card. If I dressed in the slutty clothes and danced at the club, I bet Sean would finally notice me as a woman, not an annoying kid. I scoff. Wouldn't that be epic — having wild weekend sex with my childhood crush, with ropes involved?

Wait! What?

Even if I might want that, there is no way, no how, that I'd ever walk through the doors of Carleton House and go through with the destination adventure designed specifically for me.

Right?

CHAPTER 2

Sean

Sitting at a round table with my colleagues, I swallow my scotch and let it burn down my throat. As the men circling me talk business and investment strategies regarding Saturday night's meeting with Cochrane Industries — a multimillion dollar medical supply company that is merging with a U.S. company — my thoughts are too preoccupied with Kennedy Lane, my kid sister's best friend, to join in the conversation. It's damn hard to contribute anything intellectual when all the blood has left my brain and settled down south. Yeah, she'd lost weight, ditched the braces and glasses, but I'd bet my ball sack that it was her on the street.

I gesture to the bartender for another drink, my eyes scanning over the pretty girl dancing on the stage. Carleton House isn't my regular scene, but my company has a corporate membership, and when I'm in London on business, it seems to be the place where my European counterparts like to conduct meetings — among other things.

Kennedy Lane.

What the hell is she doing here in London, following me down the sidewalk and looking like a drowned cat, no less? Last I heard, she was in Chicago working for a museum not too far from Venture Investment, Inc. — headquarters for the New York branch I call home. I've visited the main office numerous times, and whenever I'm in Chicago I always find myself looking for Kennedy. Christ, I've even wandered around the museum a time or two, though it went against my best interest. When Kennedy hit sixteen and grew into a beautiful woman, I noticed her, but I was nineteen, and a three-year gap at that age might as well have been a chasm, which meant she was hands-off all the way.

I might not be a cradle robber, but she's not a kid anymore, right? The sexy curves she's sporting allude to a very grown-up version of Kennedy — one who has my cock hardening in the worst fucking way.

The bartender delivers my drink, and when I once again look at the pretty girl dancing, I find her staring at me like I'm a fresh slab of meat. My cock thickens and presses against my zipper. But it's not because the brunette is climbing a pole and eye-fucking me. While I might have taken her up on her implied offer any other night, this time my cock is stirring because of Kennedy. Jesus, just knowing she's in the same hotel as me is enough to make me hard.

How many fucking times did I abuse myself when she slept over at the house with Olivia, taking my bed when I wasn't home for the night? Jesus, the scent she used to leave on my sheet. I had to ignore her, treat her like a sister, a damn nuisance, so she'd stop talking to me — staring at me when she didn't think I was aware. Otherwise I would have lost my shit and dragged her into my room so I could do things to her. Dirty things that fill the thoughts of every teenage boy.

Christ, my father was a minister, and if he ever knew I spent my teenage years fantasizing about sweet little Kennedy he would have forced me to devote months to repenting. But, fuck, one glimpse of her tonight and I feel like that hormonal teen again.

"What do you think, Sean?" Dawson, my European colleague, asks, nodding toward the dancer who is still eyeing me. I'm a keen observer, good at reading a person's body language, and understanding their needs is part of my job, so I get what she wants from me. A big fucking tip like I left last time. I don't have a problem with that, really. I think the dancers should get a healthy paycheck for putting up with the likes of us dirty, ruthless bastards. "I think she's looking to get you alone, my friend," Dawson adds.

I grin and hold up my glass up for a toast. "Maybe so, but I just got into town and think I'll take the night off." Okay, so I have a reputation with the ladies. I'm hardwired for hard work, and sex is how I let off steam, but I'm seriously getting tired of the kind of girls I attract. Most are more interested in what I have in my wallet than in me. And for God's sake, it'd be nice to have an actual intellectual conversation occasionally.

"Yeah, well, it wouldn't hurt to show up at the cocktail party tomorrow night with a pretty little thing on your arm. A fiancée would be even better. You know Cochrane is more likely to invest with us if he thinks you're a family man. He likes a certain level of risk in his portfolio, but is more likely to trust a guy who understands commitment and self-control." He takes a sip of his bourbon, lets it slide down his throat, then continues. "You know you have to sell yourself before he'll climb into bed with us. This job is all about building relationships and gaining client confidence, my friend."

He's not telling me anything I don't know. "I have a shit-ton of commitment and self-control," I say. Well, mostly. Okay, not always. While I'm ruthless in the bedroom and the boardroom, my sex life and inability to commit shouldn't have anything to do with business deals.

3.5 dirty dirty stars House Rules takes the whole “the quiet ones are the naughtiest” to a whole new level. Kennedy and her friends are playing a version of Secret Santa, agreeing to do whatever their friends set them up to do. Her surprise? Forget about her quiet museum girl persona and spend a weekend in London dancing in a gentleman’s club… And since it’s a debauchery trip she might as well get some hot kinky sex, right? So when she sees her best friend’s older brother and former crush Sean, she hopes she can add him into the equation. Sean can’t believe his eyes when he sees Kennedy pole dancing. Even if he hadn’t had the hots for her when they were young, he’d certainly want her after witnessing this. Well, now that she’s all grown up there’s nothing keeping him from going after her, not even Kennedy pretending to be someone else. As usual with Ms. Fox’s stories, House Rules is one really hot, kinky read. Sean and Kennedy’s chemistry is wild, and they get it on like no other. Their connection was always there, so getting a little back story made it work even better. Kennedy was sweet, shy but with a kinky side just waiting to be explored. Sean was one sexy, dirty talker, with some serious dominant vibes and a little bondage and discipline fetish. Nothing is OTT, and everything is off the charts hot. I felt the focus of the story was their bedroom chemistry, but the ending didn’t really click for me (which I found completely surprising as I’m all about insta-foreverness stories). If you’re in the mood for some filthy sex, great chemistry and a fun, quick read, House Rules is definitely one to keep in mind. *I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*

House Rules By: Cathryn Fox ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Star Review by Kristie K Another decadently sinful treat from Cathryn Fox, breaking the House Rules never felt so good… The second installment in the Dossier Series, House Rules follows Kennedy Lane as she starts her friend-funded adventure outside of her comfort zone. Always a quiet, reserved, good girl, Kennedy has desires and dreams outside of her good girl image. She’s just never been brave enough to make them come true. Whichever of her friends was tasked with setting up her birthday adventure knows this, and has scheduled the perfect outing to force Kennedy to face her fears, and own up to her clandestine desires. Setup to dance around a pole at an upscale gentleman’s club in London, Kennedy must decide how much she’s willing to expose to fulfill her hidden desire. When she sees the man she’s loved for years entering the club, her decision is easily made. She’s going to make him want her, even if he doesn’t realize it’s her. Sean Fraser is in London to close a business deal for his investment firm. With a lucrative contract on the line, Sean needs to keep his eyes on the prize and make it happen. The night before an important cocktail party, Sean finds himself sitting at a table at a local gentleman’s club when he is treated to a sight he never dreamed he’d see. Little Kennedy Lane was strutting on stage, taunting him with her sensual curves, and her gorgeous face. What the hell was she doing here? He knew it was her, and he’d wanted that girl for years…but she’d always been off limits. Without a second thought, Sean requests a private dance, and realizes that Kennedy is no longer a treat he’s not allowed to sample. The problem is, he isn’t ready to let her go after one night. I love Cathryn Fox. Her stories allow an escape into the sinful world most of us won’t venture into in the light of day. The Dossier series is all about women taking a step into the unknown, the wild side, and fulfilling dreams and desires they hadn’t dared to before. As one of those women that live vicariously through my books, movies, and other entertainment, this plot is intriguing and provocative. Who doesn’t dream about shedding their inhibitions and dancing onstage in front of a bunch of gorgeous men? I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book. It wasn’t long, but it didn’t need to be. Ms. Fox was able to build lovable, authentic, and captivating characters even in a short period of time. The plot and storyline were simple, and fun, and executed incredibly well. The cover was gorgeous, and the blurb caught my attention. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Fox has in store for the next girlfriend in the Dossier Series. Bring. It. On. Kristie K

Sexy and Sweet 'House Rules' by Cathryn Fox is book Two in the "Dossier" series. This is a novella type story and boy does it come off as short, hot, sexy and sweet. Kennedy and her friends made a pack of sorts where they each would pick a 'out of your comfort zone' with a chance to get laid type scenario and this book holds the story of Kennedy Lane and Sean Fraser. Kennedy’s turn puts her in a Gentleman's club which she about backs out on until her school girl crush comes in. Kennedy thinks he will never know who she is so she thinks to act on her feelings for him and pretend to be someone else. But Sean knows who she is and plays along with her until he can get the chance to show Lil Ms Kennedy his true moves...So how does this end? Will Kennedy get her man finally or will this blow up in her face? This was one hot and sexy novella which gives a great story for the short amount of pages. I cannot wait for book 3 in this erotic series. My Rating: 4.5 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

Hot hot hot! Yowza this little novella packed some deliciously dirty heat. Sean and Kennedy were combustible together. He helped her find her sexiness and she was his dream. I read their story in one sitting and probably could have used a fan. The things he said and did to her, goodness gracious alive! If you are looking for a quick freaking sexy read, then this is the story for you. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

House Rules by Cathryn Fox is book two in her Dossier series and it is an erotic romance novella that is as spicy as it is sweet. The novella features the best friend of Olivia (heroine from book 1), Kennedy Lane. Kennedy never expected that the New Year's Eve pact she made with her friends would lead to her getting a dossier that brought her to London with an invitation to dance at a gentleman’s club. She a was quiet museum curator, for goodness-sake! Dancing in close to nothing in front of strange men was so not her and Kennedy is near to backing out of the pact until she sees her childhood crush, Sean Fraser. Thinking that he probably doesn’t recognize her from the teen that she was, she’s unable to pass up on this chance of maybe being able to finally get him to notice her even if she is pretending to be someone else. Sean Fraser, an investment banker, who always gets what he wants. In London on business trying to land an important client, he is surprised to see his sister’s best friend Kennedy Lane, whom he hasn’t seen since high school. It may have been years since he last saw her, but he’d recognize her anywhere. Then he is even more surprised when he sees her dancing on a pole in a private Gentleman’s Club. However, when he approaches her, she pretends to be someone else. Not sure of why she is playing pretend, he goes along with it, unable to resist being with the woman he’s always wanted, even if it’s just for the weekend. However, the feelings they’ve kept hidden for years come bubbling to the surface and Sean realizes he wants more. She was off limits years ago, too young at the time, but here and now… nothing was stopping him and she was finally going to be his. Cathyrn Fox continues her Dossier series with a fun and fast-paced novella that is not only very hot, but it also filled with sweet moments especially when the story goes into Sean’s point-of-view, and we realize Kennedy was not as invisible or a nuisance to him as she perceives herself to be. I also liked how Kennedy was relatable and easily likeable. I liked reading about Sean and Kennedy and the ending was so cute. Kennedy’s reaction when she sees the brown bag Sean brings to her office was funny. You’ll have to read the story to find out why! Overall, House Rules by Cathryn Fox was a great erotic romance that had both a beautiful love story and scorching heat. I happily recommend. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)

(I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review) Oh! This packed a punch! So much heat in such a short book, but it didn't feel gratuitous or superfluous at all! We meet Kennedy, 25 year old museum worker who lives in Chicago, as she's about to embark on a sexy journey to live on the wild side for a bit, thanks to a pact she made with her friends. Her mission is to embrace her sexy side and dance at a fancy gentlemen's club in London. She gets the shock of a lifetime when she runs into her childhood crush (and best friend's brother) Sean who just happens to be staying in the same hotel she is. Coincidence? I think not! While the book was deliciously short, it was just the palate cleanser I needed after reading a dud, AFTER reading a 5 star read that left me with a book hangover! It was fun and oh so sexy, but heartfelt and sweet too. Between Sean's sexy as hell dirty talk and alpha demeanor and how relatable Kennedy was as a character - House Rules is just the perfect amuse bouche of a read! I give it 4 out of 5 stars but only because I sort of wish it was longer so I could have MORE!

As always Cathryn Fox delivers with her intricate storyline, erotica sex scenes, and endless wit. I haven’t read a Fox story to date that I didn’t like and House Rules just adds to that long list. I didn’t know this was the second in a series when I started it and I felt that I missed out on little nuances because of it.  That being said, you can enjoy House Rules without having read book 1, Private Reserve, though I would recommend reading it as well. I know I am. House Rules is a short erotic read with a hot hero and low key naughty heroine. My only complaint is how short it was!

"House Rules" has a deliciously dirty talking hero who adores defiling his typically straight-laced heroine. I love it when Cathryn Fox is a dirty girl. "House Rules" is the second installment in the Dossier series. This series follows several friends who make a New Years pact. Each girl draws the name of a friend then plans a sexually liberating adventure for their birthday. None of the girls are aware of who has selected their names. They're only allowed to take the information in their dossier and what's anonymously provided them. Kennedy Lane's a shy museum curator who's blossomed from the awkward chubby adolescent. She finds herself on an adventure too adventurous and plans on skipping the challenge and lying through her teeth. Her plans change, when she sees her childhood crush, and best friend's brother, Sean Fraser at the dossier's destination. Kennedy's been in love with her best friend Olivia's big brother Sean since they were kids. However Sean was bossy treating her like a nuisance and leaving whenever she was over. Sean Fraser's a ruthless New York investment banker visiting London on business. He can't believe it when he sees little Kennedy Lane all grown up. Being three years older, Sean couldn't do anything when he was nineteen and thought sixteen year-old Kennedy was a knock-out. All he could do was fantasize about all the ways he wanted to defile his kid sister's best friend. So he'd have to flee whenever she was around or else burn in Hell for ravishing the sweet girl. Back then three years was a big deal. Now there's nothing stopping him from tossing her on his bed, tying her there, and having his way. He doesn't understand why Kennedy's pretending she doesn't know him. "House Rules" is Cathryn Fox at her filthy talking hero no-holds-barred sexcapades best! Sean's definitely a Hero you need to do some stretches before entering into a sexual situation with him. Kennedy's fabulous. She's apprehensive but daring and for all of her complaints about Sean's "bossy" past she loves it in the bedroom. This installment in the Dossier series is all about Sean and Kennedy. There's just a mention of the next heroine in line but no hints with what's to come. The stars are Kennedy, Sean, and insanely hot sex scenes; there aren't any outstanding secondary characters. There's wonderfully fun scenes with Sean being slightly confused, a caveman, and sexually unhinged. Then Kennedy working her alter-ego "Kitten", reveling in Sean's dominance, yet still clinging to her insecurities. Cathryn Fox has quickly become a "Gimme! Gimme! Author" that I do not pass up. looking for a short and sexy read? house rules, the second dossier novella, might just be the thing for you. kennedy lane made a deal with her friends to follow the instructions on a mailed dossier, no questions asked. she's always been the shy, retiring type and the sexy clothes and instructions to dance at a gentleman's club are definitely outside her comfort zone. when she runs into sean fraser, her childhood crush, she thinks maybe now is her chance to get some closure on her feelings for him. he never looked at her twice when they were younger, but as long as she's playing pretend, maybe she can drum up the extra confidence to make her fantasies come true. sean doesn't know why kennedy lane is in his hotel. but he's pretty sure his sister, her best friend, is in on it. in his book this counts as permission to pursue the girl he always thought was off limits. he's not sure what's going on but he's not going to leave london without finally having his chance with kennedy. and maybe finally having that long overdue conversation about how he's always wanted her, always found her sexy, and maybe she's the right girl for him. **house rules will publish on june 5, 2017. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (scorched) in exchange for my honest review.

A sexy best friend's sibling novella, Kennedy has had a crush on her friend Olivia's brother Sean for ages, but thought she'd kept it well hidden - until her friend set her up for a fantasy scenario where Sean just happens to be present. Her pole dancing skills on display, Kennedy gets the chance to dance in a gentleman's club as part of the 'let loose and explore your sexual side' pact she and her friends made to spice up their lives. She just never thought she'd get to dance for Sean, and have him see her as someone other than his friend's sister. In fact, she's sure that Sean doesn't recognize her, having changed so much from the kid she used to be. But Sean is fully aware of who the 'mysterious' woman is and is very keen on exploring the simmering attraction between them. They share several steamy scenes together, and the story ends on a positive note with a happy for now ending, suitable to their short time together. 3.5 stars for this quick sexy read!

This series is smoking hot! Kennedy along with a group of her friends each put their names in a hat for each to draw another person's name that they will send on an adventure. They each plan the trip from location down to what clothes are worn. They have no idea until they get to their destination what to expect and who or what may be involved. Kennedy finds out her trip involves London's most exclusive gentlemen's clubs and her friend's older brother Sean who she's had a crush on for years. Sean doesn't know what to think when he sees Kennedy in the gentlemen's club or why she's given him a different name, but he's up for the game as long as she's willing to play by his rules. I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

Holy hotness. This book was not really what I was expecting. It was better!!! This is my first book from Cathryn Fox, and if this book is any indication, it certainly won't be my last. Oh God, it's so hot! Sean... *swoooooooon* I kinda hate Kennedy. Not really, I'm just jealous. LOL! The chemistry between Sean and Kennedy was off the charts. I loved seeing Kennedy come out of her shell. And Sean's a dirty, dirty man and I loved him. That mouth... *fans self* Anywho, this was a very quick read at only 90 pages, but good God did it pack a major punch. I was a little nervous that I wouldn't get the ending I wanted, but it was very neatly tied up. I, being totally selfish, wish it was longer, because these two were burning the pages up. I would have liked to see them a bit more into the future, but I am still happy with where it ended. I can't stop thinking about this book and I think this will be on my re-read often list. This is definite must read!

From the moment Kennedy Lane first laid eyes on Sean Fraser she fell head over heels in love with him, he on other hand had no idea that he was even on her radar. She fell under the younger, annoying, slightly awkward friend of his little sister, and that is where she has stayed ever since. That is until she wanders onto the stage at the Carlton House... Sean Fraser has harbored a secret little crush on his little sister's best friend for years, but he decided early on that she was off limits, and that he would never make a move on her. But now that she is standing before him, on the stage at the Carlton House, he can't seem to think of one reason why he shouldn't make a move... Once again Ms. Fox has created a gem of story, House Rules is tantalizing, naughty, and oh so delectable... I gobbled it up it one sitting!! The moment these two wandered onto the page I couldn't help but get wrapped up into their enticing story, I was instantly addicted and set out on a mad dash to devour every word. They took me on quite the spicy little adventure and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! Highly recommend this one, it's sure to leave you completely satisfied. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

If anyone can write hot smoking sex it's Cathryn and she's done it once again with this book. Holy hell this book. It may be short but it packs a huge punch. Kennedy is on her way to London for a wild weekend because of a pact she's made several years ago with her girlfriends. The girls drew names and your anonymous gift giver sets you up with a weekend of delight. Kennedy is going to London and due to time constraints lets her sister pack for her and her scant wardrobe looks like she's ready to hook her way through the city. The reason she's there is she's going to dance at the Gentleman's Club (and hopefully have a wild weekend) which is so not like Kennedy who has a tough time letting it all go. Entering her hotel she sees a face from her past. Her best friends sisters brother who she crushed on in a big way. Sean is there on business. She's so stunned to see him, she follows him out the door and sees him standing in front of the club. So we have Kennedy aka Kitten who is dressed for success and takes pole dancing lessons at home, she takes her turn at dancing and is a huge hit. Sean sets his sights on her and doesn't let go. Nor does he let on he knows who she is. Keeps calling her Kitten. He annoyed me in several ways, Sean was all about Sean and not at all the boy the would be someone Kennedy would be crushing on. Sean needs Kennedy to bring to a dinner with a client as the man has family values and Kennedy of course does her job there. He introduces her as Kitten. Yup. Chuckle. The man is a fool. As I said earlier this book overflows with some seriously hot sex, and I'm not sure when these two come up for air. But I will tell you that Kennedy does a Houdini and it was the best. Man, I loved to watch that man squirm. Sometimes bad boys are just bad boys. Sometimes they need that little genital squeeze to remind them who rocks the cradle. Read the book! You'll be glad you did. **arc from Entangled in exchange for a fair review**

'House Rules' by Cathryn Fox is book Two in the "Dossier" series. This is the story of Kennedy Lane and Sean Fraser. I have read the previous book but this is easily a standalone book with about 90 pages. Kennedy and her friends made a pack of sorts where they each would pick a 'out of your comfort zone' with a 'good chance to get laid' type setup. Now it is Kennedy's turn and it leads her to a Gentleman's club. Kennedy is about ready to bail on this package deal when her young school girl crush comes in. Kennedy knows he will never know who she is and so she thinks to act on her feelings for him and pretend to be someone else. But Sean knows who she is and plays along with her...but how will this end. Quick, hot and a great second chance at love story. Dossier series: Private Reserve, Book 1 House Rules, Book 2 "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Kennedy needs out of her shell and a New Year's Eve packed with her girlfriends pushes her into it. She reconnects with her child hood crush for a weekend of sinful sex in a foreign country. 2 smoking scenes will leave you panting a little, the adventure will hook you in but the ending seems out of place. If you are looking for an erotic short read, this will not disappoint.

Are you looking for a nicely-written novella that is full of sexual desire? Then pick up a copy of House Rules by Cathryn Fox, pour yourself a snifter of brandy, and devour this erotic tale. Museum curator Kennedy Lane has been in love with her best friend's older brother Sean since childhood. For Kennedy's 25th birthday, her friends send her off for a weekend in London to experience an adventure and mind-blowing sex. Her adventure includes dancing at a Gentleman's Club, where Sean, an investment banker, just happens to be schmoozing a potential client. They both recognize each other almost immediately, but neither of them acknowledge it. Kennedy's stage name is Kitten, and because Sean has always had a thing for Kennedy, takes it upon himself to seduce her completely. Their weekend of hot, steamy sex is amazing, and their newfound relationship evolves into much more. This novella is replete with scorching sex in the shower, a limousine and a hotel room. Sean is an alpha both in and out of the bedroom and his commanding ways are seductive. Overall, this is an erotic romance with a happily ever after that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. Oh. My. God. This book was smoking hot. I'm literally still sitting here fanning my face and I finished it 20 minutes ago. It was short, sexy, and to the point, and I appreciate that in an erotic romance. It's apparently the 2nd book in a series, but it's the first one I've read, and I didn't feel I was missing anything. Though, book 1, Private Reserve, is definitely on my TBR list now! Kennedy Lane made a pact with her friends. They each drew a name, and each of them will get an adventure to go on for their birthday, completely planned out and paid for by the person who drew their name. Kennedy is now in London, with instructions to dance at an upscale gentleman's club. She has no plans to actually go through with the dancing part of her adventure, until she sees him, Sean Fraser, her childhood/teenage crush. He is her best friend's older brother, and she's always wanted him. She's changed a lot since high school, and doesn't believe he'll recognize her. She thinks she can dance for him, and maybe even have some epic sex for the weekend, and he'll never know who she really is. Best laid plans, right? Sean Fraser has wanted Kennedy Lane since she was 16 years old. But, he was 19, and knew he had to keep his hands off of her. So, he treated her like his annoying little sister, and never let her know how he felt. Now they live in different cities, him still in NYC, and her in Chicago. When he thinks he sees her at the same hotel in London, and then sees her onstage at the club, he knows for sure it's her, but she's acting like she doesn't know him. What kind of game is she playing? He wants to find out, so he plans to go along for the ride, and not let on for a while that he knows her secret. This book was so hot. Sean and Kennedy had chemistry like WHOA. Their interactions were straight up steamy. I could feel their connection through the page. I liked the idea of a "secret rendezvous", even though it wasn't actually a real secret to either of them. Also, as much as I like erotica, I much prefer erotic romance, a label for which this story definitely qualifies. I still need my HEA, once the super hot sex has concluded! For what this book was supposed to be, a short, super steamy romp, it was utterly perfect. I'm highly anticipating going back and reading book 1 of this series, and I look forward to what's next from this author!

House Rules is a short, hot as heck story by Cathryn Fox. As far back as she can remember, Kennedy Lane has had a crush on the older brother of her best friend, Olivia, Sean Fraser. He was three years older than she and Olivia and she was awkward and shy and most definitely not cool enough for the likes of Sean. She and Olivia were just the annoying little kids to him. But when she was in her teens, with her heart bursting, she gave Sean a candy heart that said, Be Mine, only to have him disregard it and break her heart. Now, Kennedy is an adult, a curator for the Chicago Museum. Two years ago, her friends and she drew names out of a hat and whoever drew her name had to fulfill a fantasy weekend for her. When she was presented with her dossier, her epic adventure, she was given a plane ticket to London, reservations at the beautiful Hotel Royal, and instructions that she is to dance a pole dance at the Carleton House, London’s most exclusive gentleman’s club. There is no way she could follow through with the dance. That is until she saw Sean at the hotel. What in the world was he doing here? And she followed him secretly to that same gentleman’s club. Maybe she could do the pole dance. Sean would never recognize her, it’s been years since they have seen each other. Sean couldn’t believe it when he saw Kennedy Lane at the hotel. Then he saw her again, on stage, dancing under an assumed identity! Sean started seeing Kennedy as more than just a kid when she was sixteen and he was nineteen. But those were three very important years at that stage of their lives. She was off limits. Well, she’s all grown up now, and it’s time to get her out of his system. Or is that even possible? “In only a few short hours I’ve turned from a straight-laced museum curator to a kinky dancer with fetishes. Did the bartender put something in my drink?” Let me tell you, these two are scorching together. Kennedy is convinced that Sean doesn’t know who she is but Sean is just waiting, trying to figure out why Kennedy is playing this game. Feelings are coming to the surface quickly, feelings left to simmer all these years. But both are convinced the other only wants this one weekend. Neither dares to hope. I loved this story. I felt like I completely was able to connect with both the Hero and the Heroine even in these short pages. In the past I read this author’s Hands On series and I fell in love with it. This most definitely is an author that I know ahead of time that I will enjoy. So, ladies, turn those ceiling fans on high, and settle in. This is one you will be sure to enjoy.

I would have loved House Rules except for two things. It is short, which hampers Fox's character development. The story takes place over several days, which is a lot for 90 pages. Also, Fox uses the word f#@!, and several variations, a lot. It's repetitive and unnecessary. There is some real potential here, should Fox flesh out the characters a little more and polish her word usage. It was not the worst I've read, but it could have been so much more. I liked the fact that Sean treated Kennedy with care. It made it easier to root for them as a couple. I just wish there was more to their story. *I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Kennedy is in a rut. She's a responsible good girl caught in the throws of boredom. When a birthday dare leads to a naughty reunion and a walk on the wild side, Ms. Kennedy goes bad in a big way. Not only does she lose her inhabitions, she gains a better understanding of herself. As a woman and a soul mate. Cathryn Fox never disappoints with her sassy heroines, smooth heroes and sensuous stories. House Rules keeps the fantasy alive with it's electrifying scenarios and inferno stirring characters.
