Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
If you saw the movie Happy Feet, the penguins might appear to be a little familiar; they have a similar look. Pipkin is always asking questions: how wide is the sea, how high is the sky and so on. But his really big question is how big is a million? He heads off to find out what a million is. He meets a group of penguins in a circle trying to keep warm. It is not a million but only a hundred. Onward Pipkin goes until he meets a seal pup, and he asks about a million, but learns that he is looking at thousands of snowflakes, not a million. He returns home and relates what he has seen and learned, but will Pipkin ever find out how big a million is? The fold-out poster shows Pipkin's million and will give readers an idea of just how big a number a million really is. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
