My son LOVED this book & I highly recommend this one for any preschooler or young child (grades K-3). Right before I was done reading this to him he said, "I love you mommy!!" He really understood that no matter what I would love him anyway & it's an amazing way to help a child understand the meaning of unconditional love.

I'm surprised this book isn't more popular, it has all the makings of a classic. This book was given to my son for his second birthday. It is sweet and simple, about loving a child through their "best" and "worst" moments. The illustrations are darling, and the text is written in the first person ("I love you when you're good and I love you when...") so it's as if you're speaking to your child when you're reading it. My son laughs at the silly little boy in the illustrations and I love the simple message, it brings tears to my eyes every time! We are now buying it for a gift for my nephew.

How Do I Love You by P.K. Hallinan is a ¿love poem from parent to child¿. The text is simple but sweet and the illustrations extend the plot and develop the character all on their own. This book is a cute read for all ages, though it would be best for very young children. With young children as the target audience the book would be much better printed in a hardcover or even a board book format. How Do I Love You is an excellent story for parents to read to their children.

Summary:This book portrays the love between a parent and a child. It shows the child how much the parent loves them no matter what. Personal reaction:It was a cute book. It had great pictures and would be great for a kindergarden class. Classroom Extensions:#1: I would try to get the children's parents to come to class and read the book to their child. #2: I would have the kids draw a picture of their family and have them give it to their parents.

My son enjoys the rhyming in this book, but I am not pleased with the some of the wording ("...even when you're bad"). We will likely retire this book soon.

This book isn't too bad. It doesn't hold my 2 year old's interest that well but we still get through it. :) I'm sure it'll be nice if she gets interested as she gets older and starts to really get the meaning of it.
