Over the years, I have read my share of "marriage" books. They are always full of advice and sometimes an occasional story. But most never really resonate with me. The information is great, but I don't connect with them on the scale I would like to.
This book has a completely different premise that drew me in from the first page. When I first agreed to review the book, I actually wondered why I was adding another book to my massive to-be-read pile. I wasn't looking forward to the read. However, once I read the introduction, I was convinced that I would enjoy this book in the extreme. And indeed I did!
I have never read a book like this before. In truth, it has fifty authors--read the book, and you'll understand why. It is a positive marriage book, and you may even shed a tear or two. Two things the author did not include completely made me ecstatic! The book is profanity-free, and there are only references to sex. While the book tackles every kind of heterosexual relationship imaginable, marriage is what is stressed. And this was incredibly refreshing. I also appreciated the fact that the majority of women decided to get married before being intimate. And in most cases, they did this because of their religious faith.
So if you are ready for a book that will uplift you and remind you of the joys of marriage, this is definitely the book. There is enough diversity in the book that you will more than likely find at least one story to which you can relate. I know I did.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

This was pretty bad. I felt this book to be more how to entrap the guy to get him to propose/marry then is was to honestly get the guy to even like the woman! A few stories seemed decent and focused on things on showing him how great you are but most push for answers, bribe, sabotage or otherwise get results. Honestly, I doubt Even a few of these marriages would last. Sad honestly. My second big gripe is how true any of these are. The author admits at the beginning to changing some parts around to make what she though would be better reading. But the cliched lines...now those she gave examples of and said she would leave alone. And those are the worst things to leave alone if you insist on changing. Now I get fixing a spelling error or maybe grammar. But unless you are retelling the stories from YOUR perspective you don't change them! So then the stories are no longer true.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Never once did I get a "how to catch a man" vibe. While some of the women were manipulative, I don't feel like they all were. However, I noticed, as I'm sure most did, the more recent the story the pushier the women seemed. The women from the 90's to early 2000's seemed genuine and patient; they seemed more respective of their partners.
It wasn't long ago more and more women were giving their men ultimatums (this book is proof) however, nowadays women want more and more out of life, which I suppose is why some are offended. I wasn't offended although, I'm not very independent. I did not want to read this book because I needed help in this department, I read it because it seemed (and was) very interesting.
I love memoirs and I love peaking into peoples lives. I like understanding how other people think.
I really enjoyed the heartfelt stories. I liked that the author kept the stories short and to the point. Many of these stories remind us: one little thing can change our lives forever.
The only story I didn't care for was #16, only because she was very deceitful and such a bad model for those women who might be hoping to get something from this book.
