How I Planned Your Wedding by Susan Wiggs, Elizabeth Wiggs

Bestselling author Susan Wiggs literally wrote the book on happily-ever-after love. But orchestrating her daughter Elizabeth's real-world wedding turned into a different story altogether, and one that takes two to tell—the mother and the bride.

Here is the all-too-true tale of a mother and daughter collaborating on life's ultimate celebration—a dream wedding. Often poignant, sometimes irreverent and always hilarious, this charming book is also packed with useful advice from both ends of the cupcake-tasting table. Join mother and daughter as they wade through the trenches of flowers and favors, grueling gown decisions…and the cold, cruel realities of a budget. With luck, love and loads of patience, they come out on the other side, bloodied but unbowed, replete with life lessons—and closer than ever before.

Being a menopausal woman and watching Princess Bride romances from afar, I thought I would breeze through the pages with some chuckles. (I had read excepts of a few pages on line). Well, I giggled and heartily laughed.. But, I wasn't prepared to tear up, cry and sob reading pages near the end. This book is not about a designer, sixteen tiered wedding cake nor the world's largest diamond ring. Wiggs and Wiggs brilliantly intertwined helpful, innovative tips for planning weddings as well as sharing real life moments and raw emotions that could be helpful for brides to be or just being a guest. Whether it be a wedding, anniversary, birth, a loved one's passing or a back yard barbeque: it's all about LIFE, LOVE, FAMILY and FRIENDS. Heck, Elizabeth even throws in a bit HEALTH to boot. Her honesty and sincerity is amazing. I don't think I would share the missing toenail that was painted.but glad she did. ROFL. It will be interesting to read the next book!

How I Planned Your Wedding by Susan and Elizabeth Wiggs Maas What a funny but sometimes serious book. All the details and thoughts what went into planning the special day. You can tell the mother and daughter are VERY close. I never had a fairy tale wedding so it's quite interesting and SO involved to see how it's all put together. Love the cheat sheets and am amazed as how it was pulled off (on a budget). They really share a bunch more than I expected one to share but it fits right in. Really shows just how close they really are by their interactions throughout the book. Love what they had on the menu and love the before hand preparations: sugaring and eyelash extensions, who knew is what E. said LOL Susan was invited to speak with a crowd at Writerspace site one night and she was doing Q and A with us and she told us of using 'cloud' technology so her and E. would be on the same section. At the end my name was selected to get a free copy of the book and it was even autographed. I found the Q and A the best part cuz it allows you to find out about the people who wrote the book, their work schedule, home life, etc. I hope they are able to get together to write a 'baby on the way' book, I know it would be such a loving, tender, hilarious combination.

As a 25-year old, only child, young woman currently planning her wedding with her beloved Mommy, this book perfectly hit home. The book is mostly from the perspective of Elizabeth (the daughter) with small and insightful tidbits from mom Susan. The interactions, stresses, conundrums, arguments, and apparent love this book describes is almost identical to my current situation. It was fantastic to read about and commiserate with Elizabeth's planning journey and gain insight into how my own mother must be feeling. This is a MUST read for any woman planning a wedding with her mother. The only thing I wish different would be that I would love to see pictures of elements of the wedding and the ending of the book felt a bit rushed, but otherwise it was fantastic!

Having been luckily enough to meet Susan Wiggs, then listening to her daughter's version of their plans, I got a real kick out of their wedding plans. This reminded me of planning my wedding 35+ years ago. WOW! Did I have it easy. This is a fun book to read whether a wedding is in your life, or not.
