How the Grinch Stole Christmas!: Read & Listen Edition by Dr. Seuss

“Every Who down in Who-ville liked Christmas a lot . . . but the Grinch, who lived just north of Who-ville, did NOT!” Not since “’Twas the night before Christmas” has the beginning of a Christmas tale been so instantly recognizable. No holiday season is complete without the Grinch, Max, Cindy-Lou, and all the residents of Who-ville, in this heartwarming story about the effects of the Christmas spirit on even the smallest and coldest of hearts. Like mistletoe, candy canes, and caroling, the Grinch is a mainstay of the holidays, and his story is the perfect gift for young and old.

This Read & Listen edition contains audio narration.

I love this story! That said, there are cheaper, better apps of this story than this one.

Seriously, Dr. Seuss at his best! I remember having this book read to me as a little girl, but I'm going to be honest and say I've not read it to my little ones. It's one and has always been one of my favorite stories, but when you see it every year on television you sort of forget to sit down and read it with your kids. What a great book to sit down with and talk to our kids while reading it. Why do you think Christmas is important? Why do our kids? It's such a powerful story about really remembering the greater meaning behind the holiday, it's not just about the toys. My kids have seen the cartoon every year, but sitting with them and reading HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS was more fun than watching the cartoon (but we will still watch), it was fun talking to them--I sometimes forget to stop while watching a program and find out what they are thinking. Reading to them allows me to remember to take the time. This is one I'm sure you read as a kid and should read with yours :) Highly recommend!

Perfect book! It never gets old! My three year olds will listen to me read this book over and over again yet will not sit through the movie. Love this book and so do my kids!

I bought this for my 4-year-old godson this Christmas. He enjoyed it even more than the TV show, which is a great review in my book!

My 4 year-old son is in love with this story. It's one he requests all year long. This is true to the original so the illustrations are monochromatic but the lilting, rhyming verse more than paints a vivid picture.

Wonderful holiday story. My kids love it and tell it to me on their own.

This story is a great classic. It should be a part of every child's (and adults!) collection. I am a first grade teacher and every year my students are anxious to hear this story.

"how the grinch stole christmas" is a classic story that shows the true meaning of christmas. a grinch lives up in the snowy hills and hates the small town of whoville but more important he hates christmas but what he doesnt realize is what christmas is all about. so the grinch figures if he can go down on christmas eve and steal everyones presents down in who ville thean he will stop christmas as he does so he finds out that christmas is still taking place with out their presents the grinch finds out that its their faith and christmas is in their heart and as the story ends the grinch finds out what christmas is all about its not about presents its about faith and whats in the heart. great gift idea for children and adults

I bought this for my 22 yr old daughter as a Christmas present. This has been her favorite Christmas story since childhood. The actions of Max being fitted as a reindeer and how he "leads" the sleigh is adorable. A must read for all, both young and old.

2 Sundays ago, some of my Sunday School children said they had never heard of the story How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I let them know that surely I should definately bring that story to share. Then, this past Sunday, they said they had all had the chance to see the movie, so I thought, they wouldn't want me to read the book.

Oh, no, they corrected me on that and I went ahead glossing the text occasionally with some things that touch our social lives currently. Actually, my edition was bought years ago, and is the simple version. It still looks like new, the pages have not yellowed, and the cover still looks shiny and colorful. I like durabilty like that a lot in a book.

Dr. Seuss books are among some of my favorites to share with the children. Since they're at different stages of learning English the rhymes and phonics plays are just so ideal. The older ones sometimes have fun reading to the younger ones and that adds to the possibilities on one on one fun learning after the more traditional ecleciastic activities are over.

It truly shows how people spiritually binding can persevere despite all and even melt the hardest of hearts to join them.

Ever since I was little, I have loved this book. My father is a huge Dr. Seuss fan, so for christmas last year, I gave this book to him. The themes this book gets across are timeless, and they apply as much today as they did thirty years ago. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves christmas and who gives of themselves not just on christmas, but everyday after.

I had always thought of this book as being a cute children's book with the emphasis on cute and little emphasis on Christmas. I didn't think that any of Dr. Seuss's books carried any meaning in them. After reading this book again, I have changed my mind. This is most definitely a Christmas book. It overflows with a love for Christmas as it truly is. Christmas is made of all the traditions that we enjoy every year, but strip them all away, and we will still have Christmas if there is room for its message in our hearts. This book needs to be read and reread by all those Grinches whose "shoes are too tight" and whose hearts "are two sizes too small."

I know this by heart. It is my tradition to read/perform this story for every elementary class every Christmas. The kids know it as well as I do. I forbid any discussion of the movie!!

The classic picture book that finds the true meaning of Christmas as the Grinch tries to stop Christmas from coming for the Whos. Told in classic Seuss rhyme, it's a book I loved as a kid and still enjoy as an adult.

A great classic book. Unfortunately I think I missed some fine print somewhere. I bought this to use with my Android tablet but it cannot be viewed with the Android Nook app. So it was a complete waste of money for me.

I love the book how the Grinch Stole Christmas. It is such a good Christmas classic. It is easy for children to read. This teaches kids rhymes and is fun to read. It shows kids that Christmas is not about all the presents and that you can like the season for the people not the crazy shopping. The Grinch wanted to take every thing to stop Christmas but found that christmas is not about the gifts it is about spending time with loved ones. Just because you might not have presents does not mean that Christmas is done. The importance of love and kindness during the season.
