Overview

How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are: Love, Style, and Bad Habits by Anne Berest, Audrey Diwan, Caroline De Maigret, Sophie Mas

From four stunning and accomplished French women — at last — a fresh and spirited take on what it really means to be a Parisienne: how they dress, entertain, have fun and attempt to behave themselves.

In short, frisky sections, these Parisian women give you their very original views on style, beauty, culture, attitude and men. The authors—Anne Berest, Audrey Diwan, Caroline de Maigret, and Sophie Mas — unmarried but attached, with children — have been friends for years. Talented bohemian iconoclasts with careers in the worlds of music, film, fashion and publishing, they are untypically frank and outspoken as they debunk the myths about what it means to be a French woman today. Letting you in on their secrets and flaws, they also make fun of their complicated, often contradictory feelings and behavior. They admit to being snobs, a bit self-centered, unpredictable but not unreliable. Bossy and opinionated, they are also tender and romantic.

You will be taken on a first date, to a party, to some favorite haunts in Paris, to the countryside, and to one of their dinners at home with recipes even you could do — but to be out with them is to be in for some mischief and surprises. They will tell you how to be mysterious and sensual, look natural, make your boyfriend jealous, and how they feel about children, weddings and going to the gym. And they will share their address book in Paris for where to go: At the End of the Night, for A Birthday, for a Smart Date, A Hangover, for Vintage Finds and much more.

How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are will make you laugh as you slip into their shoes to become bold and free and tap into your inner cool.

I thought it was adorable! I was happy to find I fit the parisian bill for the most part already :P  it's not really a book about being classy, its about being quirky in a romanticized way.

Warning: this witty, delightful read will have your heart believing it belongs in Paris. Every inch of this book leaves satirical trails behind and keeps the readers chuckling at the refreshingly relatable humor. Any woman can relate although it isn't meant for those in search of a serious read! Pour yourself a cup of coffee and settle in to learn about fashion and life from the humorous, effortless Parisienne perspective.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my sister who wishes she could live in Paris and she loved it! Quick shipping on Barnes and Nobles part as well.

If you take life too seriously, then this book is probably not for you. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's not meant to be a step-by-step handbook, but rather a funny and quirky commentary on life from the perspective of some cheeky and *gasp!* imperfect French women. Obviously these women are not out to be Queen Elizabeth II, by any means. I get the impression that these are real women, with real lives who are able to laugh at themselves. If you are not able to laugh at yourself, then you make not enjoy this book. If you are, crack it open. It's a quick fun, light read that's probably going to make you chuckle.

Don't waste your money. I thought this would be a fun, guilty pleasure type read but I can't even make it through. The way the book is set up makes absolutesly no sense, it's full of random lists and photographs. $12.99 that I will never get back.

This book is pure trash! Sorry! Every other author who writes about "French women". do it with class and elegance. Where these four supposedly self-established "established" French slobs came from is beyond me. If you want to learn how to be dirty, curse, smoke, be late for everything, seem disinterested in what others are saying, etc.., then this book is for you. I will stick to the French Women..series. Glad I saved the receipt, this went right back to Barnes and Noble.
