These men are dark, bold, and brave. And there is only one woman who can bring them to their knees...

Famed and brilliant, Lady Alexandra Lane has always known how to look out for to herself. But nobody would ever expect that she has darkness in her past—one that she pays a blackmailer to keep buried. Now, with her family nearing bankruptcy, Alexandra strikes upon a solution: Get married to one of the empire’s most wealthy eligible bachelors. Even if he does have the reputation of a devil.

Piers Gedrick Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne, is seeking revenge and the first step is securing a bride. Winning a lady’s hand is not so easy, however, for a man known as the Terror of Torcliff. Then, Alexandra enters his life like a bolt of lightning. When she proposes marriage, Piers knows that, like him, trouble haunts her footsteps. But her gentleness, sharp wit, independent nature, and incredible beauty awakens every fierce desire within him. He will do whatever it takes to keep her safe in his arms.

Stunning. Few books manage to leave me with a dropped jaw and an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction. Rarely can I enjoy eloquent love scenes that leaving me squirming with a shared feeling of rightness. Of love - and lust. I was totally engrossed in HOW TO LOVE A DUKE IN TEN DAYS by Kerrigan Byrne —so much so that I read it immediately upon receiving a pre-release complimentary copy via NetGalley. I loved it, but actually felt a bit overwhelmed by it. How could I possibly write my honest review? It was going to be so difficult to put into words all I enjoyed about this remarkable book. So, I thought I would wait a while and think about how I could put into words how powerfully the book engaged me. I waited long enough that I then sat down and read the whole book a second time and enjoyed it even more. Oh, what characters have been created by Ms. Byrne! Alexandra and Piers are like no other I have read of before. Their story is sumptuously told over a period of ten days and the reason for the choice of that period of time is heartbreaking. However, the eloquence of Piers and Alexandra’s interactions is extraordinary. This is a book I will return to again. Even reading it twice was not enough.

I wrote this review awhile back but needed to reread the book again (as I always do my favorite books) before posting it. How to Love a Duke in Ten Days - Kerrigan Byrme. This is the first book in the Devil You Know series and and The first book I have read from this Author and I must say, what a great start!! I devoured the book in one day! This was the perfect book I needed to get back on my Romance reading grind and it did just the job and more. This book and the Author shared a story that is rich of raw emotion, intense feelings, survival and love. I never knew that when I pick up one of her books I will be rewarded with a strong solid story, unafraid to explore the dark corners of our everyday lives, the struggles that are faced and the healing the love can bring. Lady Alexandra Lane and Piers Atherton, Duke of Redmayne are not your regular cookie cutter characters. They are not perfect and have been wounded, both physically and emotionally, by events in their lives. Such is Alexandra’s story is story of the traumatic experience of rape at the hand of her headmaster and murder committed in self defense and how it shapes her life for years to come. Alexandra Lane is a strong, smart heroine that does not hide from a challenge, goes on to succeed professionally and yet carries this dark secret that paralyzed her world and brings fear to her and her close friends. Alexandra survived ten years blackmail for something she did while at school. What she did was in self defense, but the darkness has been her sole companion for those years. While Piers the Duke of Redmayne who is also known as the Terror of Torcliff. Piers Atherton, has been a world traveler and explorer and is scarred from an encounter with a jungle cat in South America. Piers almost died and his fiancee threw him over for his cousin while he was ill. Piers is determined to marry and have children to block his cousin from ever inheriting the dukedom. Both Alexandra and Piers carried scars, physical and emotional ones. When the past catches up to them they decide that together they can help each other. During those first ten days of their marriage they slowly fall for each other. Alexandra saw the beauty of his soul and taught him that it was okay to gentle and not be taken advantage of. Piers was always very protective of her, sadly for a moment his trust towards her almost tore them apart. Luckily he was able to figure out the truth about what had happened to her. Piers is certainly swoon worthy material. The strong alpha male/hero that cames to you with baggage of his own yet gentle enough to slowly help Alexandra find trust and love. The patience PIERS expressed was admirable but mind you, it was at times frustrating that he just did not see it. The the clues where there n yet he did not see it. There times I just wanted to grab n shake him! How dare he! How blind. Yet it was heartbreaking to read when he finally understood the whys and admire Alexandra more. FINAL THOUGHTS This was an entertaining romance with just the right amount of suspense to add the spice of danger to their courtship. This book most certainly is not your glittering ballrooms, cliche and country parties kind of story. These are solid romance stories that come with a full package of love, courage, steamy encounters and survival. I can’t wait for the next book. THIS WAS MORE THAN JUST ROMANCE!!

"These men are dark, bold, and brave. And there is only one woman who can bring them to their knees..." I've heard nothing but amazing things about Kerrigan Byrne. This was my first venture into the Historical Romance genre and let me just say I love how refined Historical Romance is. I was completely swept away! The start to a brand new series, I fell utterly in love with this story... These characters... The writing. It was brilliant! Piers Gedrick Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne... The Terror of Torcliff was everything you want in an alpha male, ladies. A brooding brute with scars and a softie with that sweet side. Then we have the Red Rogues. Three ladies that form a tight knit friendship. A sisterhood eternally bound by secrets #thesuspense. Lady Alexandra Lane was such a great heroine. Intelligent, driven, and independent especially for her time. She was a survivor with a fierceness to overcome anything. Enough said about the banter between Piers and Alexandra–it was perfection! My heart soared for these two. Filled with dark tones, How to Love A Duke in Ten Days had a subtle way of wording with elegance. Not all up in your face and crass, especially when it dealt with a delicate matter. Overall, this novel was a perfect balance of sweet, sexy, and suspenseful. I couldn't get enough of it! Gahhhh, I loved this book so much! I'm still swooning!! Now, I need to devour more of Kerrigan's words. I'm counting the days for book 2

I knew going from previous experience that this writer is on the more graphic side of historical romance. So I looked for positives and let my shock roll over. A last minute contract marriage is a favored trope of mine and I wasn't disappointed on that front. First impressions and growing attraction make this couple interesting to read about and root for. There are antagonists for the hero and heroine making for multiple near deaths and an explosive confrontation to top it off. For fans of gritty historical romance that has f-bombs, biblical profanity, a rape scene, and detailed sex. I received a free ARC from Netgalley.

i love the main and secondary characters of this book. Piers and Alexandra are two people who were truly meant to be together. Opposite in all most ever way but the same when it means the most. I wish the first half of this book was a wonderful as the last half. I’m looking forward to the next book and if I read the end of the end of the epilogue correct was was correct who Cecilia's HEA is.

This was such a great story. The plot was strong and captivating. The characters were intense and alive on the page, so much so, that you can’t help but go on their adventure with them. They had highs and lows, intense emotional scenes, beautiful passion, and a really engaging conflict. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like in this book. Great read and I want more. I highly recommend this new series if you enjoy historical romance.

Now, with her family nearing bankruptcy, Alexandra strikes upon a solution: Get married to one of the empire’s most wealthy eligible bachelors. Even if he does have the reputation of a devil. I should start out by saying that I’ve read a number of books by this author and have liked them all. That said, I have a love/hate feel for this book. It was very well written, emotional, and perfect for the current feel of what really happens to women who are forced to feel powerless. My hate is the premise of it. Due to my own personal experiences, I avoid books that have anything to do with sexual assault. When I saw the #Me Too dedication, I wanted to stop right there as I had a bad feeling. I did continue because I do like the author but I did trudge on. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review. So the beginning was a bit difficult to get through as the heroine experiences a life altering act of sexual violence that affects her ability to connect with other men. She meets the hero after saving a horse and others. He is scarred and set to uncover the mystery that surrounds his attack. Both are broken characters that through love overcome the obstacle of fear and shame. Emotionally charged and we'll written.

I must admit, it's been a minute since I've picked up anything even remotely resembling a historical romance. Visions of swashbuckling heroes, pert young ladies, and stories set in times of yore come to mind. And, yes, there is definitely some of that in this book. But there is also much more. Kerrigan Byrne manages to entertain and titillate, writing within the framework of the genre standard while still managing to create a story, place, and characters that are a breath of fresh air. I knew that I was going to love the Red Rogues from the moment that I met them. Think Nancy Drew and her gang, but with touches of the lot from Dead Poets' Society. Alexandra, Cecelia, and Francesca are no wilting lilies, but a series of unfortunate events casts a shadow over their young lives that they never quite outrun. In the meantime, though, our intrepid trio know their own minds and are not afraid to forge ahead, living life on their terms. And, I have to tell you that, as historical romance heroes go, Piers Redmayne, is the deal. He is a man of passion, and his chief one becomes a certain Lady Alexandra Lane. By turn infuriated, intrigued, bewitched, and beleaguered, this Duke never even saw his lady coming. He is the sort of romantic hero that I can totally get behind, and seeing his sense of duty, self, and love get turned on its ear is everything. This was my first read by Ms. Byrne, but will absolutely not be my last. HOW TO LOVE A DUKE IN TEN DAYS is a must-read for fans of historical romance with a twist. What twist? A woman who knows what she wants, and a man that will help her get it. Make sure this one's on the ol' TBR, and enjoy.

I have to go ahead an admit that I have been a die hard fan of Kerrigan Byrne since I started reading her "The Highwayman". I was so sad that she took a break from the Victorian Rebels series to start this one, that I almost didn't want to read this one. But, boy am I happy that the ARC popped up an I started reading it. "How to Love a Duke in Ten Days" gripped me from the DEDICATION! Yes, from the dedication. I was crying during the prologue, even. Byrne has this way of creating characters that are so nuanced, and real, and in this story she definitely delivers. Not only with the main characters, but in the people and relationships that surround them. The beautiful friendship shared by Alexandra and her fellow Red Rogues just made smile. I highly recommend this book, and any other by Byrne.

A exceptionally superb book. I was totally blown away by this book. While I like this author I did not have any expectation that this book would be one that would keep me awake through the night until I finished it. However it did and I did! Then I wanted the next one immediately! Every time I read a story, I look for so many different things, this one had them all. So I reread it! Each time it was just as good! My escape into this world was wonderful, exciting and a little adventure. I loved the characters, the plot the way it unfolds. I adored the writing and imagination shown. I like the layers within the story giving added depth. Each step of this book was absolutely wonderful. A total five star buy it now and a keeper book. I was given this arc but all opinions written here are my own. BUY and enjoy this wonderful book. Regards, Anna

I enjoyed Alexandria's and Piers story very much. The author did a great job with the characters and story line. Alexandria is being blackmailed for something she did in her past that she will keep secret in order to protect those she love and her best fries from school who helped her. So when I e of her friends call on her for help she is there. While waiting on one of her friends she saves a family from a frightened horse. She meets the scared man who owns the horse Piers. However she had no idea Piers is the Duke of Remayne and the man one of her friends is to marry. All three friends swore never to marry, but when Alexandria finds out her friend is to receive a large amount of monthly pin money she realizes she should marry the Duke herself to release her friend from having to marry him and it would help pay her blackmailed to keep their secret. But Piers has enemies of.his own and is determined to protect Alexandria at all cost. As danger threatens them both Alexandria feels she needs to protect Piers without revealing her secret as she has come to love him I a short time. This is a good read. I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

Kerrigan Byrne always tells a different story but they always have one thing in common. At least one of the main characters, if not both, have been through something horrific and heartbreaking. Alexandra’s horrible experience happens in boarding school in the very first chapter. She has been carrying the secret for the last ten years, along with her two best friends, bound together forever by shared secrets. However, someone knows. They are blackmailing Alex and soon the secret will come to light because she doesn’t have the money to pay them anymore. Piers, The Duke of Redmayne, saddled with the moniker the Terror of Torcliff needs a wife. It just so happens that Francesca, one of Alexandra’s partners in crime, was betrothed to him when they were children. For him to get the revenge he wants, he needs to marry and produce an heir. Should it matter that neither of them seems to care at all for the other? One woman’s nightmare is another woman’s dream and the Terror of Torcliff might just be exactly what Alexandra needs to both protect her from the blackmailer and break down some of the walls she has put up around herself since her trauma. There is something about this beast of a man that calls to Alexandra and she might just be brave enough to explore it. Both Piers and Alex have skeletons in their closet and don’t trust easily. Each will have to take a journey if they are going to find some common ground and figure out how to make this marriage of convenience a love match. In addition, someone might be trying to kill Alexander or Piers. It is unclear which one is in more danger, better to stick together until they can sort that out too. I really enjoyed this marriage of convenience tale. Alexandra is incredibly likeable and I love how scholarly she is and how much the Terror of Torcliff enjoys her intellect. He is a man and a little thick headed at times but once he starts to figure out this woman that he married he is quite dreamy. Get this first book in the new Devil You Know series, with strong women who are willing to take on some savage men. “You’ll meet him tomorrow, and see for yourselves how incredibly ill-suited we are. Were we to marry, our life would be years and years of senseless battles, him trying to put me in my place, and me trying to murder him in his sleep. I’m telling you, I won’t do it.” “Men like me can just tell.” Her heart kicked against her lungs, evoking shorter, shallower breaths. “Men like you?” “Hunters.” The vibration of the word spread down her spine and unfurled in the most alarming places. “Your lips, innocent as they are, beg to be kissed whenever I am near. Your tongue moistens them. Your teeth worry at them. And when I stare, as I am doing now, they soften and part, like an invitation.”

Yes Would I read anything else by this author?yes This is the first time I've ever read anything by this author and I can see why people seem to fell in lover with her stories , right from the start I was hooked and couldn't put it down, loved how the two main characters meet and seemed to not have hit it off at first, I also loved how the 3 friends was there for each other no matter what , and other thing I loved about this author is how she writes a story that's capture my attention at the beginning with a scene and not only is it thought-provoking but a little heartbreaking as well . She not afraid to show us the heroine at her most valuable state .With that said I want to thank Netgalley for letting me read and review it exchange for my honest opinion.

What an amazing story. I ugly cried..Ugly. Cried! several times during the prologue and didn't know if I could read the rest of the book.. I picked it up and put it down several times until I finally got my emotions under control. I settled in to read the remainder of the book....and I'm so glad I did. It was simply amazing. I loved Alexandra and Piers and all of the characters. I really felt for them and how they all find their own happily ever after. A powerful story of love, happiness, forgiveness, and over-coming tragedy.. I look forward to more books in this series. Trigger warning: sexual assault I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or remuneration.

I really enjoyed this story. Loved the girls of the “Red Rogues Society” and their cute names for each other. The first chapter was a bit harrowing and as I do not want to give spoilers, just be mindful of the fact. Alexandra, Cecelia and Francesca’s friendships are bound by “secrets, blood and pain.” But they are the best of friends willing to do anything for one another. Along comes Piers Atherton, Duke or Redmayne or more fondly called “the Terror of Torcliff.” Now things are bound to heat up.

How do you begin to share your feelings about a book that so completely surprised and delighted you? Kerrigan Byrne is officially a one click author for me. Her stories are poignant and engaging. Her characters are so well rounded and relatable. The plots and twists that come with each new Kerrigan historical romance leaves me on the edge of my seat and in awe of her brilliant mind and talent. How To Love A Duke in Ten Days is a story that rises above to create an experience and escape for the reader. I was emotionally invested in this book from the prologue. Wow. I was not expecting to be sucker punched like that. The story might be set in a historical setting of dukes and duty, but it transcends in relevance to many issues we see and face today. But that is the beauty of a good story. It takes a relevant idea and allows the reader a new angle through a story that is different and developed. The cast of this book is phenomenal. Alexandra and Piers are both strong fighters, each coming from a different battle in life. I was actively engaged in their story till the very end, looking to see who would overcome and how it would all play out. There isn't a single moment that drags. There is passion, danger, heartache, and hope. I am left with a desire to start it all over again, which I plan to do soon, and great anticipation for what comes next in the Devil You Know series!

HOW TO LOVE A DUKE IN TEN DAYS is the first book in Kerrigan Byrne's new Series, DEVIL YOU KNOW and also the first book of hers that I have read. I won a paperback copy through a giveaway on Goodreads and was excited to venture into discovering a new author, especially one that writes Historical Romance, for me there are only a few authors that I have found that write this genre really well and now I am happy to add Kerrigan Bryne to my list of favorite authors. I have to mention that this book does not have any warnings on it other than the dedication which most overlook when reading so I will tell you that there is a trigger warning there: "To every survivor #metoo". Please be prepared when reading if sexual assault/rape is a trigger for you, I will say that Lady Alexandra did something I bet most wish they could do in her place. And that is as much of a spoiler as you're going to get out of me. This book had me enthralled, I loved just about every minute of can guess which part I didn't like. I loved the bond between the three friends, to the way Lady Alexandra Lane (aka Dr. Lane) and Piers Gedrick Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne, met one another, and everything in between. I didn't want to put this book down and if sleep didn't interfere I probably wouldn't have. There is mystery/suspense along with this love story, so much going on that it will have you wondering who can be trusted as well. If you are a fan of historical suspense this is a must read and if you don't read much of this genre I urge you to give this book and author a chance, I don't think you will be disappointed. Happy Reading!!!

3.5 stars. I liked, but didn’t fall in love with How To Love A Duke in Ten Days. The prologue threw me off guard and it really made it hard to get into the rest of the book. I loved the Red Rogues and their devotion to each other! I love when authors write female relationships that lift each other up and protect each other when things don’t go as planned. The attraction between Piers and Alexandra was instant, however, they didn’t jump right into bed with each other. That was because Piers was a bit of an asshole. His judgment was unwarranted and frankly I would have knocked some sense into him sooner. I wish he would have talked to her and found out why she didn’t come to him a virgin before assuming the worst. This is why I didn’t rate it higher. That being said, I can’t wait to continue the series and see what’s next for the Red Rogues! I received this complimentary copy from SMP in exchange for my honest review.

Powerful story that seared my heart. Kerrigan's stories burn images into your mind that stay wrench your heart is a good way. I never want to miss her next release ever! Be warned this book deals with rape. Piers Gedrick, Duke of Redmayne is an untamed soul, a hunter who doesn't conform to polite society well. He wanders the world hunting anything he can catch. Unfortunately a panther was his last hunt and he now bears the scars forever on his face and heart. Returning home from the dead he discovers the love of his life Rose Brightwell married his cousin Patrick Atherton, Viscount Carlisle in hopes of becoming the Duchess of Redmayne one way or another. Getting off the local train coming home he rescues a woman who leaps to control his spooked stallion. Her bravery and courage spark his interest. Thus he meets Alexandra Lane. Alexandra is a female Doctor of Archeology and is waiting for a carriage to meet up with her sisters of the heart, Francesca Cavendish, Redmayne's betrothed soon to be bride, and Cecelia Teague, old school besties. They formed The Red Rogues Society at school calling themselves Alexander, Frank and Cecil. Each has a secret that binds them together and has vowed to never marry. Frank called Alex to her in distress finding herself betrothed to the family that may have murdered her family. Alexandra is the daughter of a now impoverished Earl and is just scraping by. She's being blackmailed by someone who knows her secret and Alex has been paying to protect them all. Now she can't. This story has so many secrets that are hidden. We know them but they want to keep them buried. It is a story of survival, of perseverance and courage to make a life and go on. It is also very sensual and kept me reading to see what came next. Who is trying to kill the Red Rogues or the Duke? Who is the blackmailer? Can Alexandra overcome the trauma of the rape and be happy with Piers? Wow such a powerful story. A voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

L’Ecole de Chardonne - Lake Geneva, Switzerland - 1880 Lady Alexandra, age 17, has been summoned to the Headmaster’s office. Maurice de Marchand is a cruel man and is trying to make her confess to something. She exhibits compete innocence. The Headmaster whips her with a strap then rapes her. She slits his throat with a razor and then tucks it into his pocket. Her friends come to her rescue. The gardener who is their friend, gets rid of the body and they vow to keep the secret forever. Alexandra and her friends, Francesca and Cecilia, are part of the Red Rogues Society so named because all three of them have red hair. They teach themselves about subjects usually only open for men to study. Devonshire - 1890 Francesca has summoned Alexandra to Castle Redmayne saying she is in danger. The same day, she receives an invitation to an engagement masquerade given by the Duke of Redmayne. The unusual invitation states that the future Duchess of Redmayne will be unveiled at the ball and she is invited to be a bridesmaid. As she steps off the train, Alexandra is waiting for someone to take her to Francesca. She helps stops a runaway horse and gets knocked down in the process. When she finally reaches Francesca, she says she does not want to marry the duke because she believes he murdered her parents. When Alexandra meets the duke, their conversation immediately becomes sexually challenging. Enough already. What did I just read? What a convoluted and ridiculous story. All I could think of is a caveman dragging a woman by her hair. This is the first book I have read by Kerrigan Byrne and I’m sorry to say it’s just not for me. Violence and explicit sex is not what I consider entertaining reading. Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
