A Complete Hand Book for Making All Kinds of Candy, Ice Creams, Syrups, Essences, etc., etc. First published in 1891. Tousey (1853-1902) was among the top five publishers of dime novels in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Whilst specialising in sensationalist adventure stories, including a series devoted to the exploits of Jesse James and his gang, the company also published a number of handbooks on a variety of subjects. Readers should note that some of the recipes in this book include highly toxic ingredients, notably mercury, and therefore this reprint should be considered as an historical reference work only, and not a practical guide.
