When Nora Blackbird's parents skipped town and left her with a property tax bill for two million, she found herself in dire need of a paycheck. So the former debutante finds work as the society page columnist for a Philly paper. She's happy to reclaim her place within the city's elite-until her first party assignment sends her stumbling...upon the murdered body of the host.

Nora's sisters--sexy Emma and flaky Libby--complicate matters as Nora investigates. And meanwhile, the son of a rumored New Jersey crime boss is pursuing Nora with bone-melting come-ons she can barely resist.

A good summertime read with a little mystery, a little romance, lots of wit and fun.

Nancy Martin is able to include so many emotions in her story. Getting to know the characters can be a story in itself. Add a little murder and some romance and you can't put the book down. The story will leave you wondering what is going to happen next and what mischief can the Blackbird girls get in to now.

This is the first book of the series - loved them all, start from the beginning! I enjoyed the characters, and the combination of fashion, suspense and just enough romance.

Nora Blackbird is Philadelphia Mainline. However, she and her sisters are hardly rich since her parents squandered the family fortune and left town to avoid getting arrested for failing to pay taxes. Her older sister inherited the Blackbird art collection, while the younger sister got the Blackbird antique furniture. Poor Nora got the Bucks County farm and a tax bill of two million dollars.

She sells five acres of the property to Michael Abruzzo who uses the land to expand Mick¿s Muscle Cars. If he wasn¿t such a sexy studmuffin, Nora would cry. She also uses her connection to newspaper owner Rory Pendergart to land a job as a society columnist at the Intelligencer. When she¿s invited to Rory¿s house for a party she comes across his murdered body and decides to do some snooping to see if she can ferret out the killer. Because of her society connections the police encourage her but Nora doesn¿t realize the danger she¿s placing herself in from a killer whom would murder again to keep his crimes secret.

Nancy Martin gives her audience a scenic tour of the different Philadelphia neighborhoods that makes them appealing enough so that reader will want to visit them. The heroine is an adorable eccentric who is always on the verge of fainting when life gets too stressful though why she would turn to sleuthing with that problem seems questionable. The plethora of suspects will keep readers turning the pages until they find out who done it and why. HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE is a book that amateur sleuth readers will want to have as a series, especially if the star is the delightful heroine.

I've been wanting to read this series for a while and I was not disappointed! This was light and witty with quirky characters and just the right amount of suspense. You will find that Nancy Martin managed to combine wealth, fashion, romance, the arts and food into a delightful fun read. The relationship of the eccentric Blackbird Sisters is fun and quirky. The romance between Nora and Abruzzo is witty with quippish remarks flying between the two. There were several story lines throughout the book that kept the book moving. Offer up a dead millionaire, missing sister, vengeful columnist, the son of a crime boss and an erotic art collection and you have a cozy mystery that is delightful, fast-paced and a fun ride. Great book to bring to the beach! I look forward to reading all of the books in this series.

The Blackbird Sisters are the funniest set of sisters I have ever read about in the mystery genre. Each sister has her own set of quirks and problems and like real sisters they don't get along, but in the long run they are there for each other just like real sisters. I have read all of Nancy Martin's series involving the Blackbird Sisters and I truly hope that this wonderful series has not come to an end.

This story is the best murder-mystery I have ever read. It is a suspensful story about Nora Blackbird who is poor, has two sisters, a job as a reporter, and a gangster man named Micheal Abruzzo hitting on her. I couldn't put the book down once I started and I now can't put down Dead Girls Don't Wear Diamonds. I'm planning to do the same with rest of the series and other books Nancy Matin has to come.

Why would I buy a book based on a sample that ends with the dedication?

This was a great find. Enjoyable, quick read and just plain funny and enjoyable. If you like Janet Evanovich you will like this.

It kept me guessing and it kept me laughing from beginning to end. This book is great entertainment. The characters are all amusing, especially Nora, the charming amateur detective, and her sisters. I can't wait for the next one from Nancy Martin.

Martin's MILLIONAIRE is a well-thought-out, excellently crafted, entertaining read! Not only are the society girls, Nora and her sisters, a hoot, but the range of legitimate suspects makes it a toughie to figure out, holding your interest until the very end! Martin's knack for presenting engaging characters in interesting situations puts her up there with Strohmeyer and Evanovich in my book. I can't wait for her next release!

OK, so my day didn't start to well. My dad hung my Garfeild suit on the bathroom door hook. But what happened was that Elaines jacket somehow got hooked onto the back of my suit. So I walked into the kitchen with a jacket hanging back of my costume. As if my costume didn't look funny enough. Alex was laughing at my costume, and when I turned to wash my hands, Elaine started giggling. I think she would actually let me walk out of the house like that if mom haden't noticed. "Honey, Elaine." She said. "I found your jacket. It was hanging out the back of Joel's costume." I feel a slight tug as she pulls the jacket out of my costume. At least dad didn't.... no, I can detect a smile on his face. "Well, that was funny." I say, even though I don't really mean it. "Mom, can you make waffles?" "Sure Joel." She answers and starts mixing. As she starts the waffle iron, I start gathering the things we need for waffle art. Whipped cream, chocoate syrup, powdered sugar, and strawberrys. She hands me a waffle and I start decorating. Whipped cream swirls, chocolate sauce ribbons, powdered sugar, and strawberrys. I eat one whole waffle. Mmm. I rush out of the house and dad drives me to the theater. Gulp gulp.
