An irresistibly appealing puppy named Hugs sets out one morning on a quest. He asks every animal he meets for a kiss, and they are all happy to oblige. The pup discovers that duck’s kisses are hard and wet; a horse’s kiss is a little sticky, but very warm; the pig’s kiss is a little muddy and bristly, tickley but tender. He collects lots of wonderful kisses, but when he returns home, he discovers that the best kiss of all is the one he gets from his loving mother.

This book is great for the young child who is in to touch and feel books. They will love to read this book over and over. It is a great little story and has a good message.
My 4-year-old daughter has loved this book since she was 6 months old. The watercolor illustrations are beautiful. This book is a wonderful way to teach body parts, but it works even better as an excuse to smother your little one with kisses as you read the story. It's one of my favorite baby shower gifts!
This is the most adorable story I have ever seen! I teach English as a Second Language and recently read this book to some students ages 5-7. The repetitive text allowed them to stay focused in the story while the great descriptive words for each kiss the puppy receives helped my students add vocabulary words to their repertoire. However, it's the story that every child can relate to: no kiss can match the one that Mom gives.
Sweet dialogue and charming illustrations make this book a real treasure! It's sure to put a smile on the face of young and old alike.
