Gr 2-3-- A basic book on anatomy, this is informative without being too technical. The format is large, with approximately three-quarters of each page devoted to illustration; the text is as simple as possible while dealing effectively with the subject. Each subject area is considered in one to three double-page spreads; most spreads consist of a large full-color drawing of children engaged in a physical activity that is related to the subject at hand, such as eating (the digestive system) or resting from a run (the skin). Quarter-page color insets offer appropriate diagrams of the body parts and functions. In addition to the target age group, this would be nice to have on hand to offer older children and teachers who need a source of large, attractive illustrations or for use with upper grade students who are reading below level and need basic information to keep up with their class' units of study. --Denise L.
