The main goal of the EWHCI conference series is to serve as a forum for professional and personal contact between researchers in the former Soviet Union and researchers from the rest of the world.

The 13 papers presented in the volume were selected from 70 submissions; in addition there is a summary of a tutorial on activity theory by Kaptelinin, Kuutti, and Bannon.
