After L. Ron Hubbard's sophomore year in college, he begins to travel to the Caribbean islands on ethnological expeditions which turn out to be the raw material for many of his sea adventure stories in later years. One of those stories is "Hurricane," first published in the pulp magazine, "Five Novels in June, 1936. In this Galaxy Press re-release, Hubbard writes: "Once Spar had been a merchant captain of steady reputation, but all that had faded from him now, He stalked like a black panther through the rain, merging with the shadows, on the lookout for the shine of the badge, dreading recapture only because it would mean forswearing the vengeance he hoped to wreak on the Saint." In this engaging and suspenseful pulp, Captain Spar is unjustly accused of a crime and sent to Devil's island penal colony; he was framed by a guy recognized as "The Saint." In this fast-paced Caribbean adventure tale, Spar arrives on Martinique in a vengeful pursuit to find himself entangled in a deadly web that unsuspectedly results in him being forced to sail the yacht "Venture." The intrigue does not stop here but continues to escalate as Spar conquers stormy seas to not only save himself but a whole "ship of fools" unaware of the present danger.

I have just recently started getting back into hubbards books. He was an author that my dad used to read and I just read Hurricane. I was pretty good. He draws you into this world of pul fiction so effortlessly and you hate to love him for it. Cpt Spar wants Revenge and he sets out to get it. Is it so easy of course not. He is rough and tough but so real. The plots twists came fast and hard which can get a bit overwhelming but they are intwined nicely. I am glad I got back into these books and can't wait to read more. ** I received this product at a discount to try in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

"You are in the Gremild Forest," Mantala answered happily. "Yes,we sure are," Dion rolled his eyes. Mantala glared at him. Dion laughed. Mantala stomped away and ran into the woods. "WAIT, MANTALA!" Both Brianna and Wenalt scowled at Dion. "Great." Dion stomped away in the other direction. Ok...Ezumalid knew Dion, Brianna, Wenalt, or Mantala would probably never be a team. Ezumalid decided for now, he should find Omereg, but which was the way. Wenalt and the others had told Ezumalid that Omereg had helped bring them here. He had to ask more questions. First, he went in the direction where Brianna, Wenalt, and Mantala were. The woods were deep, and the foliage on the ground was really thick. There were insects chirping and leaves crunching on Ezumalid's feet. He could hear voices. "Please, Mantala, we didn't do it!!! DION did it! We can leave now by ourselves ! Just the 3 of us!" Ezumalid scowled. They forgot about him. But he'd first get the information, then LEAVE. "Hello." He stepped through the bushes. Wenalt and Brianna turned around to stare at Ezumalid. Mantala managed a faint nod. "Uh...Ezumalid...it's you, right? Uh...what do you...want?" Brianna asked surprised. Ezumalid thought of how to explain WITHOUT making them against HIM. "Do you know where the old man who took us here lives?" Ezumalid asked. "Uh...no...but DION may know. Now leave us," Brianna told him. Oh, great. Ezumalid couldn't even use his magic to help him because all that energy he used against the weak old man. When he arrived at the camping spot, he saw Dion there looking down. "Hello, wizard," Dion jealously said. "Oh...hi...Dion...you might know...well, ya know...." Ezumalid couldn't word it. "What?" Dion slightly raised his head and frowned confusingly at Ezumalid. "I want to know where the old man is," Ezumalid insisted impatiently. "I'll take you, ok, fellow wizard?" Dion answered. Ezumalid held all the anger gurgling inside of him. How...how....mean! He didn't know what sorcery was like, he didn't -" "So, wizard of wizards, eh! If you wanna live, sell this wizard to me!" A cruel voice said behind Ezumalid to Dion and pointed a sword at Ezumalid's neck!
