Bits and pieces placed together in just the right way create a collage or an assemblage. I Couldn't Wait To Tell You weaves together seemingly fragmented snippets from the lives of two sisters as they experience the joys and frustrations of growing up and of parting too soon. True stories of the intense bond between sisters artfully constructed to convey their lives in mid-20th century America, I Couldn't Wait to Tell You is both a celebration of life and a coming to grips with death. By revealing the difficult journey towards acceptance of her sister's death, Ethyl Katz provides an intimate affirmation of the power of love and family through acute observation of the real moments that create a lifetime. Both funny and touching, I Couldn't Wait to Tell You is a "secret garden" for anyone interested in life and living.

This is a great book, especially for those fascinated by how we relate to one another. In this case, through a series of time-skipping short stories, Ethyl Katz unfolds the true story of her relationship with her sister. Not only will it make you think about your own family relationships, it is also a fascinating glimpse of growing up in America from the 1930's to the 1980's. This is the kind of book you want to buy for friends -- both because you know they'll love it, and because you don't want to lend your own copy!
