Overview

From the Publisher that brought you popular short story romances Witching Call, Hostile Hearts, Earthbound Angels, January Morrison Psychic Files, Ralph's Gift, Eve Snow Psychic P.I., In the Blood, Sex Demons, The Halloween Awakening, The Whispering, and Seasons of Love. Now, here is Friend Zone...

When the man who completes your life without even trying is about to walk away for good, what will you do?
A BREAK UP AND... ANOTHER "BREAK UP"?

Laila finds out Vince has been cheating and she took it very hard. But that isn't the only loss she will suffer from.

School has ended and she did not have anything to distract her. She has all the time in the world to cry and to doubt her choices. Eric went missing again after his graduation, and she missed him. Badly. With nothing else to do, she is forced to examine her relationship with him up to the tiniest of details.

Laila begins to believe that she has made the wrong decision. When he comes back she will tell him the truth. But where he is and what he is doing come in the form of a status update on his Facebook. Eric found love and he is coming home to prepare for his wedding.

Laila’s world sank.

The preparations are tight, time is of the essence. Eric needs friends to help him and one of those is Laila. In the midst of the chaos is the most ironic twist of all – she is relegated to the friend zone.

Best Friggin’ Friend of All time. That is her official title.

She dreads the day but she has to attend. It is, after all, her best friend’s wedding.

EXCERPT
Each step she took felt like walking on fire. Her heart started to hammer through her chest and although she had promised herself earlier that she would no longer cry, she knew she would not be able to hold it for long.

She began to breath at a quickened pace and sweat began to break through her brow. Everything seemed to move slower and she was at a loss. A single tear raced down from her left eye. Without thinking, she brushed it off with her palm.

Once she reached the middle of the aisle, she became aware of the entire gathering staring at her. Ashley had earlier commented how stunning she looked with the dress and, like all women who ventured out dressed to impress, Laila had already prepared for the stares she would be gathering throughout the wedding because she knew that Ashley was right. However she felt right now, she looked beautiful in that dress. But with the entire assembly looking at her, Laila felt like she would crumble anytime soon.

Then she noticed Eric walking towards her, smiling.

She frowned. He was not supposed to do this. He was taking his handkerchief from his suit pocket and he met her just as she made it out of the first row on her way towards Ashley’s side.

“Are you okay?” he asked so gently. “For a moment there, I thought you would trip.... Have you been crying? Are those tears?”

“Shut up already, will you? The bride would soon follow. I have to get out of the way.”

Eric paused slightly before talking again. “At least let me wipe that dirt off your toenails,” he said, suddenly kneeling down before she could protest.

About the Author

C.J. McLane was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to a family that runs a business in the music industry.
He grew up listening to demos of aspiring musicians which molded him to a man with great passion for art. It was a different kind of art, however, that C.J. wanted to pursue academically.
C.J. fell in love with photography because he was consistently amazed by the fact that one picture could tell a lifetime’s worth of story. He did an excellent story-telling job behind the lens. But when he purposelessly acquainted himself with photo descriptions, he found a new love – words. He always dreaded writing, mostly because his cursive was so incomprehensible that his essays in middle school were never really scored content-wise. But he’s got a keyboard now, and a pool of writing ideas backed by his journeys and experiences – which he likes to call the party rocking life of a college guy.
Young as he is, C.J. aspires to tell stories that involve his top-most favorite photography model – a half-naked woman – and the healthy night sweats that comes with it.
