Kind words can be contagious. That's what happens the day Cassandra tells her teacher that she likes her big, glittery buttons. Who in turn praises the custodian, who turns around and compliments the second-grade teacher. Pretty soon the second grade is having snack time early, a young boy is teaching his little brother a song, and Cassandra's dad brings a kitten home for her, bringing things full circle. Full color.

One of my 3-year-old daughter's favorite books now, I LIKE YOUR BUTTONS starts with a small compliment from a little girl to her teacher. The author skillfully weaves a tale that shows how contagious a kind word can be as the story moves though the school and out into the neighborhood. A charming story with a very important lesson about appreciating others can be found within these pages.
